Good communication skills are important for a good leader. A good leader is one who engages in clear and honest communication as they know secrets and miscommunication never benefits anyone. In William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, lack of clear communication contributes to the tragedy in Verona, Secrets and deception aggravates the problem for both families, miscommunication and misdirection is used to heighten the tragedy of the play.
Characters in the story keep secrets to avoid escalating the problem but secrecy and deception aggravates the problem for both families. Deception does not give a chance for both the Montague and the Capulet family to talk or give an opinion of Romeo and Juliet’s decision to marry each other causing more

dilemmas. When Juliet returns from Friar Lawrence’s cell to work out a plan to not get married to county Paris, her father (Capulet) asks, “How now, my headstrong , where have you been gadding” (IV.ii.16-17)? Juliet lies about her happiness and learning obedience “Where I have learned to repent the sin / Of disobedient opposition / To you and your behests, and am enjoined” (IV.ii.18-20) Lying causes more dilemma because Capulet changes the wedding date “Send for the County. Go tell him of this. / I’ll have this knot knit up tomorrow morning” (IV.ii.24-25). Capulet changes the date to the next day which affects the whole story and all leads up to their death. One day might have been for them to be alive. Also no insight of others while keeping everything in secrecy leads characters into making bad decisions. Romeo in Mantua has no one to talk to and knows that he loves Juliet a lot. When Romeo hears from Balthasar about Juliet's death, he quickly jumps to suicidal thoughts. Before he returns back to Verona, Romeo decides to buy poison. He goes to an Apothecary and asks for it “Hold there is forty ducats. Let me have / A dram of poison, such soon-spending gear” (V.i.70-71). With no one to give him any advice Romeo buys the poison and drinks it later. Secondly, Miscommunication and misdirection is used to heighten the tragedy of the play.
Right after Romeo and Juliet marry each other at Friar Lawrence’s in secret, neither Romeo nor Juliet tell the news to anyone. Tybalt approaches Romeo accompanied by Mercutio and Benvolio and tells him to draw. Romeo responds, “The reason I have to live thee” (III.i.63). He continues “I do protest I never injured thee / but love thee than thou canst devise / Till thou shalt know the reason of my love. / And so good Capulet which name I tender / As dearly as mine own, be satisfied” (III.i.69-73). This causes miscommunication as Tybalt is confused and shocked and that why Romeo loves him which angers him. On the other hand Mercutio is in rage after what Romeo just uttered as he can’t take a Montague loving a Capulet and draws for him. The fight leads to both Tybalt and Romeo’s death. If Romeo tells Tybalt that that he is married to Juliet it wouldn't have come to this because Tybalt wouldn’t have come to Tybalt would not try and kill his cousin’s husband, In addition characters are misleaded and lack of leadership causes chaos. There was a miscommunication between Friar John and Romeo. Friar John’s message to Romeo is not delivered. Friar John says, “I couldn’t send it - here it is again - (He returns the letter back to Friar Lawrence) / Nor get a messenger to bring it to thee, / So fearful were they of infection” (V.ii.14-16). Friar John was not able to communicate with anyone which
misleaded characters such as Romeo and Friar Lawrence. It was the last way both Romeo and Juliet would have survived. In other words, Truth and honest communication between characters between the characters in Romeo and Juliet would have save a lot of lives. (opposite of secrets) and (opposite if deception) would resolve the problem between the families. Good communication would (opposite of heighten) the tragedy. To sum it all up a leader was needed in the play to avoid the tragedy.
Did you know that Romeo and Juliet was one of the biggest love story of all time. Romeo and Juliet is a story of two star-crossed lovers from two families the Capulets and the Montagues. The Capulets and the Montague had a big fight that made the families very angry at each other. Romeo and Juliet decide to get married. The two couple marry and run away. In the process both of them will die. When it comes to Romeo and Juliet who are the top three people that caused the two to die. The two people that are chosen are Friar Lawrence and Lady Capulet. Friar was chosen because he is the one that married Romeo and Juliet. Lady Capulet was chosen because she is forcing Juliet to marry Paris which is making Juliet want Romeo even more. The third thing
Firstly, Romeo and Juliet’s problematic marriage was a result of their impulsiveness. In Verona, the Capulet-Montague feud was infamous: even the servants loathed each other. Therefore, Romeo and Juliet knew of the consequences their marriage would entail since their families dislike each other. Yet, they still took that risk and got married. Afterwards, their secret marriage caused a big problem for Juliet. Lord Capulet was unaware of
The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, a play written by William Shakespeare, is set in Verona where two families, Montague and Capulet, have a long feud between them. This conflict causes a dilemma for the two lovers, Romeo and Juliet that are secretly married, and they take their lives to be together. Romeo, a Montague, is a teenage boy that in the beginning of the play, loves Rosaline and he is depressed because she doesn’t love him back. After talking to Mercutio, Romeo’s friend, he goes to a Capulet’s party and falls in love with the daughter of Lord Capulet, Juliet, and they secretly get married. By the end of Romeo and Juliet, Romeo’s quality of being naïve and kills himself after him being heartbroken over Juliet’s supposed death. His quality
Although the Capulets did arrange orchestrate Juliet’s marriage to Paris, they believed that Juliet was aware of what it entailed, and openly accepted it. They did not intend to upset or harm Juliet and felt it was best for her, in addition to not knowing of her secret romance. In Friar Laurence’s case, he was aware of how much the two loved each other, and chose to provide Juliet with a potion that would lead to her death. Romeo did not know of this, and when he did hear of what she had done, it was too late. If Friar Laurence had chosen to ask Friar John to deliver the letter to Romeo promptly, Romeo would have known the urgency of the situation, preventing the unfortunate deaths of the couple in the end. Friar Laurence’s actions had a directly negative impact on the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, based on his failure to consider the effect of his own actions on their lives and
Before meeting Romeo at the ball, marriage was not what she desired. “It is an honor that [Juliet dreams] not of.” (1.3.67). Lady Capulet, Lord Capulet, and Nurse are all in favor of her marrying Paris, yet she does not wish to. Romeo had manipulated Juliet into moving quicker and she did not wish to. “It is too rash, too unadvised, too sudden.” (2.2.118). Juliet knows this is not right, but continues with the marriage. Romeo and Juliet’s decision to keep their marriage a secret also contributed to the tragedy. Romeo sees Tybalt as family, but how is Tybalt supposed to see Romeo as family if he is not aware? “ But love thee better than you canst devise/ till thou shalt know the reason of my love.” (3.1.61 & 62). By not telling anyone, Tybalt is offended by this statement, leading to the death of Mercutio. Romeo and Juliet have blinded each other with their love and did not realize the effects they have on their
Teenagers that are in love tend to be impulsive and bad at making decisions. In the play Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, two star-crossed lovers from families that don’t get along have to go against their parents, so they can be together. The language that Shakespeare uses depicts the characters and shows that they are impulsive, which affects the outcome of the play.
Many people think that society has changed so much over the years. That the way that children act, has taken a turn for the worst, but in reality children are learning from their ancestors. Children are lying to their parents, they are sneaking out at night to be with a boy that is “the one”, children are going back into the age of Shakespeare. In the play “Romeo and Juliet” which was written by William Shakespeare in 1597, there are two teenagers, Romeo and Juliet, who fall in love with each other. These two teenagers try to do everything that they can to live the rest of their lives together, except their families despise each other, so there is no way that they can live the rest of their lives together. So, many people believe that the way that our children are growing up today is taking away the fun parts of their childhood. However in this play Juliet did many of the things that teenagers are trying to do now. Children and sometimes adults now need to realize how your actions not only affect you but also the people around you, you also need to think about the consequences of the actions you make. At first Juliet falls in love at first sight with Romeo, then she takes a potion, which causes her family to think she is dead, and then how Friar Lawrence helps Juliet with the scheming, which shows how adults have to think about others as well.
There was action and there was tragedy, but put it all together to make the perfect comedy and a perfect tragic story. William Shakespeare wrote the play Romeo and Juliet, said to be the finest written play in history, for its originality and it's many plots. This story will take you through a lot of mixed emotion and will show you what a true feud is. This story is laid out perfectly because of its true holding and both family's passion for their children. William Shakespeare wrote the story to show how Romeo and Juliet's love for each other will show their youth and immaturity. Their over reacting cost them their life. At such a young age they thought they could never love another being again, and so, " A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life."(Act one scene one)
The main protagonists of the play are victims of fate’s cruelty. Many events that directly affect Romeo and Juliet’s lives are brought about by the harmless actions of others. The reason they were even able to meet was because of a servant’s mistake: “My master is the great rich Capulet; and if you not be of the house of the Montagues, I pray come and crush a cup of wine” (1.2.82-83). Capulet’s servant was simply looking for anyone to help him read a list of invites when he ran into Romeo. He had no intention of inviting a Montague, but he accidently did, simply because Romeo helped him out. If the servant had not crashed into him, Romeo and Juliet would have never had a chance to meet, and therefore no chance to fall in love and then die. Similarly, Friar John played an indirect role in their deaths: “I could not send it—here it is again—/ Nor get a messenger to bring it to thee” (5.3.14-15). This is towards the end of the play when Friar John was supposed to give a letter to Romeo, explaining that Juliet was alive, but in a coma, and waiting for him to get her. Friar John has no ill-intentions when he says he can’t get the message to Romeo. He is completely oblivious to the content of the message and simply gets held up to a point where sending the message isn’t a possibility. Friar John doesn’t realize that the message he is intended to send to Ro...
In some cases, “dawn” is a representation for a minute of mindfulness when reality gets to be self evident. The two sources react verbally, such that gives a moment of clarity to one. Romeo and Juliet (Act 3 Scene 5 Lines 1-64) is a short excerpt from the play Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare, published in 1597. In the excerpt, Juliet has a moment of clarity that only gives her more sadness. “Summertime Sadness” is a song by an American singer and songwriter Lana Del Rey from her second studio album, “Born to Die”, in 2012. In her famous song, it demonstrates the dawning of awareness by being fearless. Considering the two sources react verbally, such that gives a moment of clarity to one, we can conclude that the moment of clarity gives a strong impact of that instance and often discovers a still
At this point Romeo had killed Juliet's cousin, Tybalt, to avenge his friend Mercutio’s death. This act resulted in Romeo being banished from Verona by the Prince. During this time, Juliet’s Father, Lord Capulet, had arranged for his daughter to be married the next day. Friar’s plan proposed that Juliet was to have faked her death with a potion that made her appear to be dead for the following forty-two hours. This was to ensure that the wedding wouldn’t happen. In the meantime, Romeo was supposed to receive a letter from Friar John explaining the irrational plan. Encased in the letter were directions for Romeo to return to Verona and reunite with Juliet when she awoke from the potion. From there, they were to speedily to commence their future together without having to worry about their families searching for them. But the plan didn’t come to fruition that way. When Friar explained this plan to Juliet, she only desired Romeo, so she followed the first idea he came up with. Friar told Juliet, “In the meantime, against thou shalt awake, And hither shall come; and he and I Will watch thy waking and that very night Shall Romeo bear thee hence to Mantua. And this Shall free thee from this present shame,” (IV,i,113-118). With this statement, he just assumed that the letter would be delivered to Romeo with no
Everyone is to blame for the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. Romeo, Juliet, Friar Laurence, and Romeo and Juliet’s parents all played their own role in causing the four deaths of Romeo, Juliet, Tybalt, and Paris. It is not just one of them to blame, every one of them did something to cause the tragedy. Some of them played a bigger role than others, but everyone contributed. Fate had nothing to do with it and it was all the different characters faults. Romeo, Juliet, and Friar Lawrence’s rash decisions where the main cause of the tragedy.
“O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?” During the balcony scene in the Romeo and Juliet 1960’s movie, Juliet is lamenting Romeo’s name, alluding to the feud between their two families. I really enjoyed the 1960’s version of Romeo and Juliet. The other two versions of the play were very inaccurate in many ways. Some of the reason of why the other movies were inaccurate was because of the actors ages, and their costumes. The balcony scene of Romeo and Juliet that was portrayed the best was the 1906’s version because of the chemistry between the characters, actor believability, and their line delivery.
The feud between the Montagues and the Capulets causes the young couple to have to sneak around to one another. Broken family relationships in both families add stress since there are less people Romeo and Juliet can trust, and feel comfortable talking too. Miscommunication not only between Romeo and Juliet, but almost all the characters, affect the couple in a poor way because they are constantly being misinformed about one another. Romeo and Juliet may not like that they have been greatly impacted by all these factors but these actions are ultimately what shaped their lives, and affected how they lived them. This demonstrates how the influences around you can change the way you feel about certain things. If they had better family conditions, and ways to communicate, it is possible they could have lived their lives longer and
How could this happen? Why is all of this happening to me? I do not deserve any of this. I want to stay with Romeo but he is gone forever. Literally forever.
