Romeo and Juliet Literary Analysis Teenagers are known for having a difficult time controlling their emotions and making rational decisions. Nowadays, teenagers can be unruly and difficult, thinking only about the present. In the tragedy Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, Shakespeare captures this idea by having many of his younger characters go from decision to decision without even pausing to think for a day. The tragedy Romeo and Juliet shows that acting on impulse can lead to unexpected tragedies. The first that example Shakespeare uses to represent this theme is verbal irony. Throughout Romeo and Juliet, Romeo constantly rushes from decision to decision, not once thinking about the consequences. Near the end of the tragedy,
he learns that Juliet has passed away, and cries, “Is it ev’en so? Then I defy you, stars” (5.1.24). Romeo believes that he is defying fate by killing himself and being with Juliet. This is a perfect example of verbal irony because Romeo is rashly going into a decision, thinking he will defy fate despite that being exactly what fate wants, and not thinking about the consequences will be. Shakespeare also uses foreshadowing as the second example for the theme. “I fear, too early; for my mind misgives… by some vile forfeit of my untimely death” (1.4.106-110). Romeo has a dream that he will die an untimely death should he go to this party. He tries to tell Mercutio, who dismisses the dream, and sure enough Romeo meets Juliet at the party, setting the course for his- and others’- untimely deaths. This theme shows that Romeo’s future rash decisions would end in the tragic deaths of Romeo and his friends. Shakespeare also uses a metaphor to show this theme, “Do thou but call me resolution wise and with this knife I will help it presently” (4.1.53-54). Juliet, desperate with her true love for Romeo, is going to kill herself if the Friar doesn’t solve all of her problems for her. Juliet is about to do something rash and uncalled for, but her love for Romeo is blinding her reason and judgement, making this a perfect example for this theme. In the tragedy Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, it is shown that rash decisions can lead the downfall of many. Teenagers don’t think about their decisions, a statement that is as true now in our time as it was in Shakespeare’s. Despite the fact that this rule will never change, society can at least boost awareness of bad decisions and prevent further tragic mistakes.

William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet demonstrate the ignorance and susceptibility of men to making impulsive decisions without considering the consequences.
Since the dawn of the cinematic age film has effectively altered the course of society and individual people. Due to the decrease in cost for movies, cable, and satellite television since its advent, people worldwide have been able to be given the exact same messages from what they tune into or go to see. As such the directors, producers, writers, and the like have the need to maintain a level of decorum into their films and television productions to prevent society from receiving certain positive and negative messages on accident. Sometimes they don’t do too well with it. Now, it isn’t inherently their fault, humans take messages in in a multitude of very different ways. For example, look at all the different variations in all the translations
In act two scene two of Romeo and Juliet, the audience learns that people who are in love will do anything for each other. In the scene, Romeo does everything he possibly can to see and talk to Juliet. This is illustrated when, “ The orchard walls are high and hard to climb,” (Shakespeare 2.1.68) this demonstrates what Romeo will do for Juliet. The mood of the quote convey that Romeo will do anything for Juliet even climb over a wall. Also, not only was it hard to climb the wall to get to her, but he put himself in danger going to the place of his enemy. The word “hard” demonstrates that Romeo wasn't just going to meet Juliet, but he was putting himself through challenges to see

“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage” (Tzu, Lao). Romeo and Juliet is the story of two families, the Capulet and Montague families. The two families have an ongoing feud which has created a lot of fights within the streets of Verona. A child from each family, Juliet Capulet and Romeo Montague fall in love with each other; it is a love that is certainly forbidden. If their parents ever found out, how would it end? Would there be more rivalry, or bring love between the two families? Romeo changes over the course of the play, at first feeling dark and depressed, then madly in love and ending with him thinking Juliet was dead and mourning over his loss of her.
J.B Priestley and William Shakespeare’s world-renowned plays ‘an inspector calls’ and ‘Romeo and Juliet’ discuss the importance of: class, gender and materialism. Both Shakespeare and Priestley use different emotions to present the relationship between children and their parents. In both plays, it is evident that parents use emotion as a way of communicating with their children.
One of the greatest plays of all time, Romeo and Juliet, is a love story that ends with a tragedy. Two teenagers, Romeo and Juliet, fall in love, despite them coming from feuding families; hence their label as star-crossed lovers. At the end of the story, the star-crossed lovers make the bold decision to take their own lives. Although they are responsible for taking their own lives, Friar Lawrence is the one who led the star-crossed lovers towards their suicidal path.
Romeo and Juliet: Overview "From forth the fatal loins of these two foes, a pair of star crossed lovers take their life." Romeo and Juliet's death was a result of many misfortunes, but they were mostly victims of the society in which they live, malignant fate, and their own passions. Romeo and Juliet are members of two families that are each others two biggest enemies, both rich families and with that comes expectations that you are expected to live up to. If something was done incorrectly or a wrongful action was taken, the consequences for that action might be different from a person who was not as rich, because people look up to the Capulet's and the Montague's and will more likely follow them, and want to be like them more than a poorer person. Therefore Romeo and Juliet are influenced by this and marriage with a member of the enemy could result in being looked down upon in your family, cause even more anarchy between the two families or possibly banishment from your house. They are victims of this because if their families did know of this marriage, they would have had no reason to cover up or hide anything, and there would have possibly been peace between the two families.
Juliet’s attitude to her relationship with Romeo undergoes changes, and as her relationship with Romeo deepens she starts to take more risks.

Would their tragic death could have been avoided? Would there have been a happily ever after? Romeo’s role in the story of Romeo and Juliet is played as a young man who is the protagonist and falls deeply in love with a girl, Juliet. He is the son and heir of Montague and Lady Montague. In the beginning of the story he was madly in love with a girl called Rosaline. He even risked to go to the Capulet’s party just to see Rosaline as Romeo said “I’ll go along, no such sight to be shown, But to rejoice in splendor of mine own” (1.3.107-108). That all changed however because when he saw Juliet he asked to himself, “Did my heart love till now?” (1.5.59). During that party he gave a kiss to Juliet and also met her on her balcony after.
