William Shakespeare describes the battle of love and hate and spreads a universal message—in which love is always victorious. Described as one of the greatest love stories of all time, Romeo and Juliet is also a very complicated one. There has been bad blood between the Montague and Capulet families for as long as their generations have lived. The hostility between the two families was so destructive that no human being and no God had the power to diminish it. What are we made of? I mean humans of course, but what are we made of. We know what our bodies are composed of but what is in our souls or spirits. Are humans really superior to other living things. Yes we can talk, but what are we made of? We are made of our feelings. Our standards, our way of life, our way of thinking and everyone is different. Some may be straight A students with a normal life while some have had a rough journey and less than perfect grades. But there are some things that I think most people have in them. It’s a positive spirit. Now, everyones is triggered by different stuff but we all have one. But, of course where there is a positive spirit there is a negative spirit which is much, much easier to catch. Even though The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet doesn’t scream positive messages about human spirit there are still some in it such as, love can make you do crazy things, in hard times people can unite, and that even when everyone is against you, you can still do what’s right.
Whenever something bad goes down, we always want to blame someone else but ourselves. In the case of Romeo and Juliet, Friar Lawrence is the real person to blame. People think that he's the one who was trying to put things back together for the families, but really he wasn't. Giant problems that the Friar ended up causing happen include about three different deaths, lying people and his own selfishness. The Friar may look like the innocent one here, but he isn't. People may think that he is innocent because he was trying to make the two children happy towards the end, but really he was trying to save his own skin. In the opening scene, the chorus states that Romeo and Juliet are two young lovers from opposing families who were destined to fall in love and eventually die together. Juliet’s parents have the perfect life planned for Juliet. She has the perfect fiancé, she was going to have a great family, and live happily until the day she died. But then it was love at first sight for Romeo and Juliet. They both know it was the wrong thing to do, but they went with it. Despite their best intentions to be together and to change their fate, the play proves that there destiny’s are predetermined.
Everyone is to blame for the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. Romeo, Juliet, Friar Laurence, and Romeo and Juliet’s parents all played their own role in causing the four deaths of Romeo, Juliet, Tybalt, and Paris. It is not just one of them to blame, every one of them did something to cause the tragedy. Some of them played a bigger role than others, but everyone contributed. Fate had nothing to do with it and it was all the different characters faults. Romeo, Juliet, and Friar Lawrence’s rash decisions where the main cause of the tragedy.
Is a death of two lovers romantic or just a tragedy? “Romeo and Juliet” is a good answer to this question. There were plenty of things they could have done differently, in order to live happily ever after. Romeo could have refrained from killing Tybalt, or Juliet could have denied her father and told him of the marriage. Not to mention that Romeo should have just obeyed and stayed in Mantua. The main thing that could have been done differently was that they should’ve thought these things through.
