Romeo And Juliet Impulsiveness Essay

Romeo and Juliet, the product of the great William Shakespeare, their love was tragic to themselves and many characters. This is because of their emotional impulsiveness they had and acted on throughout the story. Many deaths were also caused by the wish made by Lord Capulet for Juliet and Paris to marry. Ultimately, their love has caused many casualties of characters in the play. For the previous reasons, their love was detrimental to the story.

Impulsive behavior is dangerous and unpredictable, this is the main cause for Romeo and Juliet’s demise. They made split-second decisions about their future together as husband and wife. They asked Friar Lawrence for a plan to save their love, but they were unprepared and did not carefully plan it out accordingly. This resulted in a mix-up and they ended up dying because of their impulsive decision making. Impulsiveness is the very nature of this play, and it clearly causes many conflicts and deaths in Romeo and Juliet.

The wish made by Lord Capulet for Romeo and Juliet to marry caused many disputes and deaths throughout the play.

It conflicted Juliet's love life by adding Paris to it. He was an obstacle that stood in the way of Romeo and Juliet’s future together. Because of this very reason, Paris met his fate from Romeo in a duel to the death. Juliet also resented her father because of him forcing her to marry a man she doesn't love. An example of this is when Lord Capulet says, “Sir, Paris, I will make a desperate tender of my child’s love, I think she will be ruled…” (Shakespeare, Page 834) That quote is an example of how heartless Lord Capulet is, he doesn't consider his daughter’s feelings and refuses to allow her to marry someone that she truly loves. Lord Capulet posed a threat to Romeo and Juliet’s undying love for eachother, he was an obstacle that both Romeo and Juliet had to

overcome.
Not only did the unbinding love of Romeo and Juliet cause tragedies in the play, the brotherly love that Romeo shared with his friends caused unnecessary deaths. The duel between Mercutio and Tybalt is the prime example of this. Tybalt started the feud when he says “Mercutio, thou consort’st with Romeo” (Shakespeare, Page 820). This quote was a main cause of the duel between these two men. Which did not turn out well for both of them. Mercutio was slain by Tybalt, the rage of anger that struck Romeo as he saw his friend incapacitated, compelled him to chase Tybalt and ultimately kill him. This unfortunate event was caused by impulsiveness, distaste and love.
In conclusion, Romeo and Juliet were very disastrous to the play in it’s entirety. They made impetuous decisions that prevented them from living a “happily ever after.” Lord Capulet’s decision to forcefully marry Juliet to Paris, arose many conflicts and caused deaths. Romeo’s brotherly love for Mercutio hinders his relationship with Juliet, because he killed Tybalt, which is her cousin whom she loved. She was conflicted because of this and it caused tension between herself and Romeo. Overall, Romeo and Juliet’s love for each other caused them to make hasty, passionate decisions that ended making them meet their fate, it was also ruinous to numerous characters and the play itself.
