Romeo And Juliet Family's Feud

The family’s feud is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. In the opening scene, the servants from the Capulet and Montague sides are fighting. This scene helps show us that these families are not going to get along. This brings out the drama and action in the story. The family’s feud also forces Romeo and Juliet to hide their love. They can’t be seen together because their families would not accept them anymore. The family’s hate for each other is so strong. The Prologue states,”From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean. From forth the fatal loins of these two foes A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life.” (Prologue 3-6) These opening words tell us what will happen to Romeo and Juliet.

It tells us that they are going to commit suicide because they can’t be together.

They are pulled apart by the opposite families. Throughout the book there are many fights. They intensify the book and bring more action and suspicion. The scene that Romeo kills Tybalt brings more danger to Romeo and Juliet’s relationship. Romeo and Juliet got married and Romeo got into a fight with Tybalt. Romeo ended up killing his brother in law, Tybalt. This put Romeo in lots of danger because he just killed a family member. This could cause the family’s feud to become worse. In the article, “Taking Words Seriously - Romeo and Juliet are Troubled Kids”, Peele says,”These are traits of the young lovers themselves, not of their families or the barriers their last names create.” This quote shows that Romeo and Juliet love each other very much. They are the young lovers, but their last names create more problems. Their last names are just names but create barriers so they can’t be

together.
Friar Laurence is to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s death. Friar Laurence had many ideas to keep Romeo and Juliet together. But, they never worked. Friar Laurence thought of this elaborate plan to have Romeo show up at the same time Juliet awoke. Friar sent a letter to Romeo explaining the plan but it never go to him. His planned caused both Juliet and Romeo to kill themselves. The article ”Beyond Raging Hormones” states,”It appears that new activated patterns for some emotional states - feelings that are triggered more quickly or greater intensity - are linked to biological changes occurring with puberty.” (Dahl) This quote supports that Juliet must have been feeling a bunch of emotions. She didn’t really understand what she was feeling because she was only thirteen years old. Puberty changes how you feel. Friar Laurence also made the mistake of leaving Juliet before she killed herself. He tried to take her away but instead left her. He could have saved her life if he would have forced her to go with him. Friar Laurence had tried to make it look like he didn’t know what was going on. He didn’t not do the responsible thing.
Romeo and Juliet’s parents should be held responsible for their deaths. Lord Capulet forced Juliet to marry Paris. Juliet was against it and tried anyway to get out of it. Lord Capulet was very harsh and made Juliet very angry. She cried and hoped that Romeo would come save her. She hated her father for making this decision. Lord Capulet said,”But fettle your fine joints’ gainst Thursday next To go with Paris to Saint Peter’s Church, Or I will drag thee on a hurdle thither. Out you green sickness, carrion! Out, you baggage! You tallow face!”(III.V.153-157) Juliet’s father was very cruel and harsh with her. He wanted her to marry right away. Both of her parents felt it was time for her to marry someone; meanwhile she was already married to Romeo. Not only did they force her to marry Paris but they had moved the wedding day closer forcing Juliet to make a decision. The article “Beyond Raging Hormones” states,”The long-held idea that the human brain development is virtually complete within the first years of life is a serious misconception.” (Dahl) This quote helps support that Romeo and Juliet’s parents were forcing her to marry too young. They believed that she was ready to marry even though she was only thirteen years old. Juliet’s parents were very strict. They forced her to stay away from the Montagues. She always had to hide and sneak away to go see Romeo. Critics would say that her parents were just being protective and didn’t want her to live her life alone, but her parents pushed her too far in her marriage.
In conclusion, Romeo and Juliet are not to blame for their deaths. This is a preventable way of death. If anyone is feeling like they want to die because of a loss, there are people that you can talk to you. There are many counselors and therapists that will listen to you.
