Romeo And Juliet Dialectical Journal

My poster represents the struggle Juliet experiences. I drew Juliet in this state because through most of the story, Juliet was upset because of many tragic events that occurred. Most of her whining was over Romeo. Specifically, the quote represents her lost love with him when he made too many hasty decisions. His decisions were the main reason why they died and Juliet has a difficult time recovering from his choices. This quote reflects her thoughts towards the beginning of the play about Romeo and that she should not rush into love with him so quickly. But she did and when everything goes wrong she probably feels regret. I also decided to draw her because as a teenage girl, I can somehow understand her predicament and I regret some

choices I make as well. Her irrational decision to kill herself was probably an act of impulse which everyone does once and a while (usually not to that extreme). In stressful situations, I could break down like she does, whether it is over romance, parents, or whatever problems may arise. She is conflicted many times and the effect of this is also weeping. As a sensitive person, I wanted to draw the sensitive side Juliet because her character interests me the most. The theme of Romeo and Juliet would be love and loss, which Juliet goes through the most, in my opinion, out of all of the characters. Yes, Juliet is one of the main characters, but to me, she is also the most important. I like her more than Romeo because she is smarter than the boy (like most girls are) and is more reluctant to making stupid decisions than he is. Even though she was upset most of the play, she had rare, happy moments with Romeo which lifted her mood. Likewise, these moments were what made Juliet even more distraught when he was banished and when he had died. Juliet was wrong in many ways but I appreciate her as a character because all teenagers make mistakes and this story highlighted how we sometimes react through troubled situations.
