I preferred Romeo and Juliet to Shakespeare in Love because Romeo and Juliet felt like a tragedy, while Shakespeare in Love was sad at the end but there wasn’t as much bloodshed and violence, and nobody in Shakespeare in Love were bitter and heartbroken at the end besides Shakespeare and Viola. Even though it was hard to understand at times I like the iambic pentameter and poetic language in Romeo and Juliet. Although I did enjoy the humorous parts of Shakespeare in Love but there was still funny parts in Romeo and Juliet.
Romeo and Juliet stuck with me longer because when we finished it even though I knew what was going to happen at the end, it was still very depressing and dismal at the end. There was
6 deaths and in Shakespeare in Love only 2 people die and one of those people is the villain, it’s almost better that Lord Wessex’s ship crashed because then Viola is free of him to pursue a new life and maybe go back to England. In Romeo and Juliet more than half of the main characters die and even innocent Paris is slain for seemingly no reason. Romeo and Juliet stuck with me while I feel I will probably forget most of Shakespeare in Love’s details. The poetic language makes Romeo and Juliet harder to understand but it definitely makes it easier to remember the lines and it sounds amazing when the actors say the lines. While Shakespeare in Love isn’t as memorable because of this, and the because of that the lines that Shakespeare didn’t write for his play didn’t sound as dramatic and meaningful. Shakespeare in Love was definitely funnier than Romeo and Juliet, it takes away from the tragedy at the end, but the jokes were easier to understand. There were still plenty of jokes in Romeo and Juliet, and if I lived in the early 1600s then I probably would’ve thought they were hilarious. For a tragedy I think it’s that there weren’t really any jokes at the end of Romeo and Juliet besides the Irony. There’s a reason it is one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays Romeo and Juliet is amazing, and definitely better than Shakespeare in love, it is sadder, more memorable and the funny part are well placed. Romeo and Juliet is a real tragedy. Although I do think Shakespeare would’ve liked Shakespeare in love better because it’s a movie about him being a badass, having an affair and getting rich, but I hope anyone else prefers Romeo and Juliet.

Although the movie appeared better, it left out some major parts. The play had better mood and plot details which made it much more dramatic and by far a better presentation of the. & nbsp; One major difference between the play and the movie occurs in mood. An example of this is the marriage scene. In the marriage scene of the play, Romeo and Juliet is very serious. The reader can tell this by the way the two speak. Romeo says that the Holy Words the Friar speaks can make something without an equal (Act II, Scene 6, Line 4).
Paramount aspect of the movie and the play, the theme, were the same, and the overall messages in both were the same. For example, one main message in the stories was that love conquers all. This was demonstrated in both the play and the film when Romeo and Juliet kept secretly meeting each other even though they knew it was against their families’ wishes. In one scene of both the movie and the play Romeo and Juliet even got married and died together so that even if they could not be together on earth they would be together in death.

Juliet in this movie is much more rebellious than Romeo. The one that i liked the most was the 1960’s version by far. The characters emotion was remarkable towards each other, their costumes were on point, their line delivery was so graceful and charming, their ages were on point, and I really believed that they were in love. All three plays had something that i liked and disliked, but the 1960’s version was by far the most accurate display of Romeo and Juliet. The balcony scene of Romeo and Juliet that was portrayed the best was the 1960’s version because of the chemistry between the characters, actor believability, and their line delivery. I definitely want to continue watching the 1960’s version of Romeo and Juliet and I can’t wait to finish
