Arranged Marriages
An Arranged Marriage is a controversial topic. Some Cultures believe they are the only way people should be married. These could be for military or political reasons. Arranged marriages, as seen in Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” is an important topic in literature and modern-day culture.
Arranged marriages occur both in “Romeo and Juliet” and in real life in “Romeo and Juliet” the Capulet family tries to have an arranged marriage for Juliet with Paris. This causes conflict because Juliet already married Romeo. This eventually leads to Juliet getting in a fight with her parents and wanting to commit suicide. The two were too young to be married. Juliet wasn’t even thirteen before she got marriage. Maybe the two did not fully love each other. Maybe they were just infatuated with each other. The two could maybe fall out of love with each other later and divorce. The marriage basically helped cause the death of the two. If he would told the two families that he married Romeo and Juliet, he would not have had to create his potion plan. Without the potion plan Juliet never fake died which meant that the couple would have stayed alive. If he had not married them Juliet would’ve married Paris. Even though she did not love Paris she would have still been living.

Getting married can be very difficult and it could change lives. When parents arrange their children’s marriages there is little amount of time to get to know each other. Unlike most people in his time, he thought Juliet should be able to choose who she wants to marry so he allowed her to take her time and look at all the possible suitors before making a definitive answer.
