Romanticism began in the 18th century during 1800-1850. Romanticism basically originated in England. It was a reaction to industrial revolution. The peak of romanticism was associated with liberalism and radicalism, but overall I think it mostly affected the growth on nationalism, the growth was very large. Romanticism isn’t easily defined. Romanticism does vary greatly between different countries and different artistic media or areas of thought. Romanticism was pretty much the largest artistic movement of the late 1700s. Its influence was noticed across continents through the mid-nineteenth century, and many of its values and beliefs can still be seen in contemporary poetry. Romanticism witnessed a steady loosening of the rules of artistic expression that were pervasive during earlier times. Romantic ideas basically centered on art as inspiration, and the spiritual and aesthetic dimension of nature, and metaphors of organic growth.

Caspar David Friedrich and William Wordsworth are usually known as artist that makes their poetry have “a spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings”. In order to express these feelings the poets had they had to put them down, and had to go deep down into their imaginations. Romanticism traveled everywhere including Germany, France, Russia, Catholic Europe, Poland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Latin America and North America. Romanticism originated from Germany with one of its many artists, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. He wrote the novel “the sorrows of young werther” around 1774. more influences came from the Germany idealism Johann Gottlieb Fichte and Friedrich Schelling. Early Russian Romanticism comes from the poets Konstantin Batyushkov, who wrote “a vision on the shores of the lethe” in 1809, and Vasi...

...e isn’t any other period in English literature that displays more variety in style, theme, and content than the Romantic Movement in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Romanticism can easily be described as a large network of sometimes competing philosophies, agendas, and also points of interest. In England, Romanticism had its greatest influence from the end of the eighteenth century all the way up through about the1870’s. In my opinion, I like romanticism. Its probably one of my favorite techniques.

To conclude, romanticism was a very huge movement that originated in England around the1800’s to about the 1850’s and migrated to Spain, Portugal, Latin America and many more. Many poets have used Romanticism in their poetry, including some of the greatest poets such as Edgar Allen Poe, and many more. Romanticism affected liberalism, realism, and nationalism.
