Robert Bateman was born on May 24th 1930 in Toronto, Ontario (currently 85 years old right now), he is a Canadian naturalist and painter. Even in his early days, he was fascinated by nature and art, and would record bird sightings. Robert Bateman painted nature in a representational style all the way until his teens, when he switched over to a more post-impressionism and abstract style. He found inspiration from the Group of Seven, and was interested in abstract paintings of nature. Bateman returned to painting in a representation style (realism) during the early to mid 1960s, which resulted in him becoming one of the most recognizable Canadian artists. But it wasn't until 70s-80s that he started getting recognized for his work as a naturalist

Alexis Rockman was born in 1962, in New York and subsequently grew up there his whole life. Throughout his childhood, Rockman very often frequented the American Museum of Natural History as well as traveled to Australia a number of times due to his stepfather being an Australian jazz musician. He developed a fond interest in natural history and science, as well as a liking for film, animation, and the arts. This fascination for history and science most likely stemmed from his mother’s occupation-working for anthropologist Margaret Mead. He painted his first mural, Evolution, in 1992 and his career soon flourished. His works primarily focus on nature and the natural world, whether that be though large scale murals or field drawings of animals and foliage. He currently lives in New York City and works out of a studio in the city’s Tribeca neighborhood.

Richmond Barthé was born in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi on January 28, 1901. Richmond was born in a hard time for African Americans. Some people argue that rehabilitation is the most effective way to handle prisoners, but the risks don’t outweigh the benefits, especially for murderers. Nobles was an example of a murderer who appeared rehabilitated, but under close examination of his actions, he was no more than a manipulating sociopath. Nobles was not rehabilitated because his actions in court showed how he felt, his faith was a facade, and he was a schizophrenic.
Grant Wood is a famous philosopher who was born in February in the year 1891 in Anamosa, Iowa. Wood was born to Quaker parents on a small farm. This experience would be the basis of his iconic images of small-town plain folk and verdant Midwestern vistas. He later moved to Cedar Rapids after the death of his father in 1901. He first studied at the Minneapolis School of design between 1910 and 1911 and became a professional designer while attending night courses at the University of Iowa and at the Art Institute of Chicago. At the end of 1915 he gave up designing and returned to Cedar Rapids. After his military service he taught painting and drawing at the public school of Cedar Rapids and visited Paris in 1920 with Marvin Cone. His early works were outdoor scenes combining a bright Fauve palette and a loose, impressionistic style - the result of a 1923-24 trip to Italy and Paris, which included study at the Academie Julian. He visited Europe again in 1928 and notably went to Germany and Holland where he discovered German and Dutch primitive painters to whom he borrowed many facets. Wood was appointed head of the Iowa Works Progress Administration-Federal Arts project in 1934 and also taught at the University of Iowa.
Aloysius “Louis” Baumann was a businessman who truly cared for the well being of his customers as well as his family. He was born on August 22nd, 1863 in Hirschau, Bavaria in southeast Germany. Louis accompanied his parents, Joseph and Anna, on the long journey to settle on a farm near the town of Branch in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. In 1889 Louis Baumann purchased a property on North Central Avenue in Marshfield, Wisconsin to build a saloon and hall. Sanger, or Singer, Hall became a community gathering place and was later renamed to Baumann’s Hall as the business prospered.

Mark Rothko, born as Marcus Rothkowitz, was born September 25, 1903 in Gvinsk, Russia and by the age of ten had emigrated to the United States with his parents. He attended Yale University in the early 1920's, but never completed his formal education there. In 1925 he entered studies at the Art Students League in New York City where he started painting under the instruction of Max Weber. Although he studied under Max Weber he still considered himself as basically a self-taught painter. In the 1930's and 1940's he went through phases influenced by Expressionism and Surrealism, but from about 1947 he began to develop his own distinctive style for which he is known for today. Critics labeled Mark Rothko as an Abstract Expressionist, but defiantly he argued this association by his peers, because he did not want to be known for a certain style. Harold Shipman was a British middle-aged family doctor turned a serial killer, and he is believed to have killed at least 236 patients over a twenty-four year period (Saferstein, 2015). The glaring question is how does a medical doctor betray the needs of patients, and more importantly, how does he elude suspicion for nearly two and half decades. Let us examine the key facts and circumstances surrounding Dr. Harold Shipman, also dubbed Dr. Death, and determine why he was to kill undetected for so many years beginning with Dr. Shipman’s teenage years.

Ray had older twin brothers, Samuel and Leonard and a younger sister Elisabeth. Ray’s brother Samuel died in 1918 and his sister died in 1927 (Reid 1). The Bradbury family eventually settled down in Los Angeles when Ray was fourteen. Ray Bradbury attended Los Angeles High School, where he regularly worked on his writing besides joining the drama club. Ray also considered becoming a professional actor or even a magician (Badertsher). Ray had a vivid imagination, as a consequence, he was often haunted by his fears (Bradbury). Ray claimed he had almost total recall, back to the moment of his birth (Reid 1).
