The Road Back Vogler mentions that the Road Back is a "stage [that] represents the resolve of the hero to return to the Ordinary World and implement the lessons learned in the Special World...Heroes gather up what they have learned, gained, stolen, or been granted... [and] they set themselves a new goal, to escape, find further adventure, or return home" (189-193). Once Harry has defeated Lord Voldemort for the third time, he recognizes that he must soon return home to the Dursley's house in the Ordinary World; a World where he is unloved, uncared for, and a nobody to those around. This is a “setback” where although “things were going well after surviving the Ordeal” within the Special World, “now reality sets in again” and Harry recognizes the daunting life he faces in the Ordinary World (Vogler 192). For example, as Harry boards the train back to the Muggle World, Hermoine makes the statement that it couldn’t be that bad – his aunt and uncle should be proud of what he accomplished. Harry, however, responds with, “Proud? Are you crazy? All those times I could’ve died, and I didn’t manage it? They’ll be furious…” (Rowling 341). Despite Harry’s apparent …show more content…
Harry, who was once a shy, unvoiced young boy with little knowledge about the world, is now transforming into a brilliant young man un-phased by even the slimiest of individuals. When Mr. Malfoy confronts Dumbledore about his return to Hogwarts, Harry steps in and questions Malfoy about the diary. He urges, “Don’t you want to know how Ginny got hold of that diary, Mr. Malfoy?... You gave it to her” (Rowling 336). This degree of accusation by Harry, as Mr. Malfoy is head of a very powerful and darkly associated Slytherin family, shows that Harry has accepted who he is and his old Self is “completely dead” – outweighed by the bravery of new Self Harry he has forged (Vogler

G.K.Chesterton once quoted, “The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.” The novel Three Day Road by Joseph Boyden, recounts the struggles of a Canadian soldier through his tedious and terrible experiences fighting for his country against the Germans. Throughout the novel, the protagonist was disgusted by the blood and trauma war brings, however, he knew that it was imperative to kill, or else he would not have survived. In war, it is kill or be killed, someone who is wise will kill to survive and protect his country, as well as avenge his family or comrades.

I am reading The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan, and I am on page 302. This portion of the novel is about three newfound half-bloods named Jason, Piper, and Leo. This novel starts off with Jason waking up on a bus, not knowing who he is. Apparently his best friend is a guy named Leo, and he has a girlfriend named Piper. They’re all apart of the same boarding school for troubled kids. They arrive at the grand canyon, when one of their thought to be classmates turns into a storm spirit and tries to kill them, because they are half-bloods. At the time they do not know that they are. Their coach, also known as their Teacher, is actually a Satyr that tries to defend the kids. Jason eliminates the storm spirits with his golden sword, even though he was
An exposed and desolate house set in the untamed outback is the setting of ‘The Drover’s Wife’. Lawson describes the two-roomed house as being “built of stringy bark”. Similarly, he identifies the environment around the house, such as “bushes… of rotten native apple-trees” and a “waterless creek”. Lawson further explains the surroundings and her isolation in this quote “Bush all round- bush with no horizon…the country is flat”, here Lawson has used the word “no horizon” to state that there is nothing in the distance. This allows the reader to visualize the bush as being clear, flat and empty. These quotes demonstrate that the family is poor and lives a difficult life because the house is made of stringy bark; this offers discomfort and no protection
Redemption is defined as the action of saving or being saved from sin, error, or evil. Throughout life, individuals are faced with numerous incidences of redemption that can be taken up or ignored. Those who choose to take the opportunity are often able to grow mentally and accelerate much further than those who do not. However, what must be taken into account is that true redemption is for oneself rather than for others. For example, redemption by finally getting a well-deserved promotion which impresses others is not truly beneficial redemption. What must occur is happiness for the promotion within. In The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, the employment of redemption as a central idea prevails throughout the novel, specifically in the life
Media makes celebrities seem as if they live life facing no problems or hardships. In reality, they do not live a perfect life, but that characteristic of celebrities' life tends to go unseen. In Charles Dickens’s, A Tale of Two Cities, Dickens develops Mr. Lorry into a character where business engulfes his life. Mr. Lorry continually tries to suppress his emotions using many different strategies. Even though business is always Mr. Lorry’s top priority, he always has a special place in his heart for the people he cares about, the Manette’s. Through the use of characterization and dialogue, Charles Dickens uses Mr. Lorry to promote how humanity overrides one’s business side no matter how hard they try to suppress it.

Just to quickly run through the two previous books; Harry Potter is a wizard, who’s parents were killed by the worst dark wizard ever known. The reason why Harry Potter is still around, is because Lord Voldemort failed to kill Harry. His spell hit Harry, but then backfired on Voldemort taking all of his powers with him. Harry is so famous for two things. Withstanding the powers of Lord Voldemort, and, taking him back in to the underworld in hiding. In the first book, Harry receives a letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He’s eventually allowed to go, and spends the next six months there learning magic, getting into trouble, and trying to solve mysteries of his past, and the school. In the second book, Harry goes back to his second year at Hogwarts, and gets into more trouble, figures out many astonishing mysteries and learns loads more magic. His best friends in the two books consist of Ron and Hermione (two of his fellow wizard students) and Hagrid the gamekeeper who was expelled from Hogwarts but allowed a job as the gamekeeper.
Introduction Front Lines by Michael grant is a magnificent alternate history account of three young girls and their experience in a “what if” scenario where women are subject to the draft and eligible for military service. Rio Richlin, Frangie Marr and Rainy Schulterman enlist in the United States military and are instantly thrown into a new world. In between vigorous training in preparation for World War Two, our protagonists are offered no safe haven as they are bombarded not with grenades, but with the sneers and partiality coupled with the leering gaze of their male comrades and superiors. As made obvious from the above, the social justice issue represented in this novel is sexism, especially concerning women in the military. Although Frangie Marr, an African-American character, experiences distressing amounts of racism in addition to the misogyny throughout her service, sexism is a more constant attribute in the struggle of these particular soldiers.
But the letter begins to multiply, appearing in the strangest ways and their uncles make burn them. But on the night of Harry's birthday, he is visited by Rubeus Hagrid, Keeper of Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts, which tells the whole truth: That Harry was a wizard, just as his parents, who had been murdered by Voldemort, and not died in a car accident, and that Harry had the scar on his forehead was not the car accident, but an assassination attempt, which had destroyed Voldemort and, for this reason, Harry Potter was famous in the wizarding
