1. INTRODUCTION The most basic definition of “accident” is adopted by the National Safety Council, which states, “Accident is an occurrence in a sequence of events that produces unintended injury, death, or property damage.” Road accidents are currently one of the major world economic and social problems in transport industry. Motor vehicle is an unstabilized situation that includes at least one harmful event that does not result from discharge of a firearm explosive device and does not result directly from a tragedy. The effort to ensure better road safety requires large allocation of resources which further signifies the importance of economic valuation in every possible area caused by road accident. Road conditions Thousands of people are hurt or killed each year due to poor road quality and conditions. It is essentially impossible to ensure every road and highway in the state is completely safe. Common road conditions are confusing, damaged or missing signs, blind curves and poorly banked roads, lack of traffic signals, overly bright lights or lack of night-time lighting and broken guardrails. Potholes, uneven roads, construction zones, bumps on the road also can cause extreme accidents if drivers are not careful. The government organization responsible for maintaining the road could be responsible if missed maintenance created a dangerous condition that caused an accident. In other case, the road conditions are not a problem with the road itself but are instead caused by weather. If a road is icy or there is a low visibility during driving due to fog or rain, drivers are expected to change their behaviour to accommodate for these conditions and drive safely. 2.5. Bad weather When the weather turns bad, the possibility of an accident can increase significantly. During heavy rain or snowstorms, the falling rain and snow can make it hard for drivers to see. Windshields can rapidly become cloudy when rain or snow is mixed with dirty water and can cause diminish visibility to drivers. Diminished visibility is dangerous and drivers should take necessary precautions to avoid
To start of we all know that driving in Winter all drivers experience low visibility which causes all drivers to take it slower than usual. Before thinking about driving in Winter, you need to make sure you know how to handle snowy and icy roads before getting behind the wheel. Below I will be analyzing the Responsibility for Accident case to find out the answer about the inquiry of who is responsible for a work accident – the employee or the company? First of all, I am going to look at every fact and different points of view of the case. I will also going to analyze the employee’s complains about the unsafe workplace. On the other hand, I will analyze what is the foreman’s defense to demonstrate that the employee is responsible for the accident and not the company.
The elimination of traffic regulations causes drivers to think for themselves and pay attention to the road rather than the laws of the road. Without set speed limits, motorists drive at a speed they feel comfortable and in control of. For example, large stretches’ of the Autobahn do not have a speed limit. While there are many people who drive at speeds in excess of one hundred and fifty miles per hour (Driving 150mph on the Autobahn, YouTube), but the average speed of the majority of vehicles is eighty miles per hour. This is merely ten miles per hour faster than the speed limits on most comparable United States highways. Even though there is no set speed limit on large portions of the Autobahn, fatalities are much lower than that of rural highways in the United States, despite having no speed limit. Another study concerning speed limits involved measuring the speed of vehicles in a given area. Next the posted speed limits were either raised or lowered the speed limit. After the speed limit was altered vehicle speed was measured again. The study found, regardl...
To begin with, the landing of the snow on the road caused many damages to them. This was because the levels on which the roads were raised were in different proportions. This, therefore, prevented lack of flow to be experienced on the roads. Moreover, the cracks that were observed on the roads came about because of the difference in the temperatures of the country.
Car Accident! The world would be more beautiful if their less or few car accidents. Now a days car accidents happens daily and sometimes they leave a big scratch in the heart if it end up by a death or a serious injury. Also, many thinks they are smart enough that they wont get into a accident because of their tricks in driving but in the end they find them self in a accident.
There is a serious problem with our nation's roads and highways. I find myself repeatedly avoiding trips to the city for this very reason, as I'm sure many others do as well. This nerve-wracking congestion is even beginning to find its way into the suburbs and surrounding areas of large cities. It is a serious problem that affects everyone who owns an automobile, as well as, businesses that are dependent on reliable and convenient transportation. To top it all off, this problem is getting worse every year. The population of this nation is growing, which translates to an increase in cars on the road. More people are moving to cities and the suburbs that surround them, creating gridlocks everywhere.
The cdc.gov says, "Everyday more that 9 people are killed in the united states and more than 1,153 people are injured in car crashes that are reported involving a distracted driver."Distracted driving is driving while doing another activity that takes drivers ' attention away from driving. An everyday activity that is dangerous is being distracted while driving. Three situations that can cause driving to be dangerous are texting while driving, being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs while operating a vehicle, being distracted by passengers inside the car.
Environmental conditions play a vital part in aviation as a whole. Much planning goes into a flight based on the current and forecast weather conditions for safety reasons. Accidents have occurred due to flying in bad weather such as thunderstorms with low level wind sheer, lightning, hale, icing conditions and poor visibility. Poor weather especially icing can be very dangerous to flight but most accidents can be avoided if the right precautions are taken to avoid potential bad weather situations. I will take a closer look at icing conditions on aircraft and give examples of icing related accidents
Disappointment, disbelief and fear filled my mind as I lye on my side, sandwiched between the cold, soft dirt and the hot, slick metal of the car. The weight of the car pressed down on the lower half of my body with monster force. It did not hurt, my body was numb. All I could feel was the car hood's mass stamping my body father and farther into the ground. My lungs felt pinched shut and air would neither enter nor escape them. My mind was buzzing. What had just happened? In the distance, on that cursed road, I saw cars driving by completely unaware of what happened, how I felt. I tried to yell but my voice was unheard. All I could do was wait. Wait for someone to help me or wait to die.
The pick-up bounced jarringly down the old dirt road. The driver sat up straight in the front seat, checking over her shoulder every few seconds to make sure that her cargo hadn't fallen out.
I always hear those old sayings. In the course of one day I can hear them about everything from retraining old dogs to getting up early. I think they make sense and I even ponder on some of them, but I never really thought one might mean as much to me, or become as realistic as it has become in my life. The clichés about telling those you love, how you feel, before it is too late and the ones about living every day like it is your last have an all new meaning to me.
Accidents is defined as an unplanned and undesired circumstances resulting in injuries, fatalities and loss or damage of property or assets(safety.ILO, 2011). Accidents are much deeper and beyond the older clichés, accounting to bad luck or fate, almighty’s work or simply being at wrong place at wrong time. But, in todays scientific world it is neither perceived as fate nor as deity’s work but a social problem resulting from a chain of undesired events. Preventing accidents is very arduous task without knowledge of accident phenomenon and the study in the field of accident phenomenon has been very diverse but a basic question has always been raised as why does accident occur? Can there be some common pattern to it? To unravel these mysteries and predict and prevent accidents several theories and model has been postulated in the past and recent times with each having some explanatory and predictive values.
“The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status, or ethnic background, is that, deep down inside, we all believe that we are above-average drivers” -Dave Barry, comedian. The number of accidents over the last ten years have drastically increased, drivers are paying less attention to the road itself. Many individuals behind the wheel of a car believe that their driving does not affect the road conditions, however it always will. The driving habits of today are catastrophic due to the reasoning that the driving will affect other lives through reckless or distracted driving, and disobeying traffic laws.
Last year I got involved in a massive car accident. It was the most terrified part of life. It was the moment. I will never forget in my whole life. Before, I never realized how people really feel when a car accident happens. But,after this car accident I know what really it felt like. It was the moment. My mind was totally feared of driving. I was crushed by the hot metal and cold dirt of car. I was not feeling my arm,my body was numbed. It was felt like my lower body pressed down with monster force. All I could feel was the noise of car accident ringing in my ear.I was barely able to move my body. I was kept thinking. What my parents going to think about this? Where is my friend John? I looked through the window and saw the cars passing by
Road safety is one of the most important aspects of daily living. Our vehicle is our main transportation from one place to another. The number of car and motorcycle accidents seem to be increasing because of the many distractions, the lack of safety measures and judgment to road conditions and weather. Not being cautious increases the chances of not only injuring ourselves but hurting others as well. On the road, you see people talking on their cell phones or texting, eating, putting makeup on, changing the radio station, reading or using your GPS while driving. These are all distractions that endanger drivers, passengers and bystanders safety. Safe driving involves off-road precautionary measures such as making sure tires are properly inflated, testing windshield wipers, getting regular oil changes and tune-ups and adjusting the mirrors. All of these actions can help prevent an accident. Unfortunately, not all of us decide to wear our seat belts when driving or turn signal ligh...
