I wish I had enrolled in the RN-BSN program sooner than this time. Before the RN-BSN program, I did not fully understand my role as a nurse. I had no knowledge of the functions of the Nurse Practice Act and the Board of Nursing. Nursing research was just a part of nursing curriculum. My score on the PRCA-24 was a 100 which lands me in the high level of communication apprehension area. A further breakdown of my score is as follows: Group Discussion-26, Meetings-26, Interpersonal Conversations-24, and Public Speaking-24. Since I am a very antisocial person, I knew my score would be very high. I am so antisocial that I rarely order my own food at a fast food restaurant when I am with a group. This type of situations will only intensify as I begin public speaking, so I am in desperate need of management strategies. Conflict often arises between new graduate nurses and experienced staff over the ideal patient care. The realities of practice often turn out to be contrary to what graduates were taught in university (Phillips, Kenny, Esterman, & Smith, 2014). The College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) is the governing body of all registered nurses in Ontario and is regulated.
