For this sociological exercise, I decided to binge watch the show Riverdale. Riverdale is a popular teen drama based on the characters of Archie Comics. The main character of the series is Archie Andrews. Archie is depicted as a real life superhero living in the body of an average teenager. He is a white male with bright red hair, very muscular and extremely attractive. His personality is very caring one where he is often found in situations where he rescues individuals from dangerous situations. Based on his looks, he is presented as a favorable character. His bright red hair allows him to stand out in the crowd, like all eyes are on him wherever he goes. His body type gives off the allusion of a strong man who is capable of many task. He is a straight male with an equally beautiful girlfriend. Although his parents are divorced, they are still on good terms. Overall, Archie is depicted as a good boy with a bright future. …show more content…

In the prologue of Friday Night Lights, by H.G. Bissinger, football team, Panther, has players who have fears/problems to overcome before a important game with their biggest rival the Midland Lee. The main characters include Boobie Miles who had dealt with a tragic accident on his knee the last game he played causing him to get surgery leading him to not play as well as he did before, Jerrod McDougal who knows he can’t make a collage team because of his height, Mike Winchell who lives in poverty with his mother, Ivory Christian who has a love/hate relationship with football, and Brian Chavez who is a gifted football player and student being on top in every class.
You can see that he's strong but he's also frightened. As you move your eyes towards what's behind him you notice that his hand is crippled and was probably burned. Your eyes meet his and they're a piercing blue. You are so struck by his looks you can't wait to go talk to him and find out about his personality traits. Johnny Tremain's personality was very fascinating, and it was most intriguing to read about how he changed from a bossy, impatient boy, into a thoughtful, patient gentleman.
The idea of belonging is primal and fundamental. It is human nature to want to belong. In Medicine River, written by Thomas King, the desire to belong is crucial to the character development of the protagonist, Will. Belonging is represented in various ways throughout the text but the changes to Will are mainly conveyed through two channels: from community and from family.
A young 12-year-old boy by the name of Aaron Kurlander faced many hardships when he was left to fend for himself while his family was separated from him in the 1930’s depression era in St. Louis at the Empire hotel. Aaron uses his imagination and sense of reality to survive and he never seems to let his spirits sink. While Aaron was left to fend for himself, his father seems to think he had good reasons for the families absences; Aaron’s brother Sullivan was shipped off to go live with relatives, his mother (Mrs. Kurlander) admitted to a sanitarium for tuberculosis, and his father (Mr. Eric Kurlander) who was a door-to-door sales man who sold wickless candles left town to travel for a watch
As we already know that Archie just want to get revenge of his father’s death. Which is divergent. He should think about his mom too if he wants to get revenge. As I mentioned in previous paragraph that he was drinking, very destructive and didn’t attend school. His mom is not raising him right because of her own problems which is depression. She is dependent on pills to control her health because she can’t get over her husband 's death. One of my researched article stated, “Research on the effects of an infant 's/child 's death on parents ' mental health and personal growth has found symptoms of PTSD, depression, and anxiety; lower quality of life; and minimal involvement in social activities up to 6 years after the loss” (Hawthorne, et al.). In other words, It is very difficult for parents to handle their health when they lost their child. Which could lead to many health related problems. Such as PTSD, depression and anxiety. I also believe it is hard to manage if you lost your close relatives or friends. It does not matter if you lost your child or husband but the symptoms will be the same. Archie’s mother needs more time and need more care than Archie needs but Archie is not that old who can understand what his mom is going through and what he needs to do to make things better. For example, Archie said, “A number of times she’s called me, trying to get me to come home, even though she herself is the one
Ghosts; figures that haunt and torment the living due to unfinished business. They have long been a part of society, and have frequently appeared in literature throughout the ages. In “The New Boyfriend”, written by Kelly Link, ghost appear once again. The protagonist, Immy Imogen falls in love with a ghost that inhabits her friend, Ainslie’s, fake boyfriend, Mint. She has a large shock when she finds that it is two ghosts inside of Mint. However, the true ghost haunting Immy is not Mint, but rather her split nature. Immy is haunted by the duality of her nature, because she is both the best friend as well as the best enemy of Ainslie.
Throughout six seasons of AMC’s ongoing hit show The Walking Dead, Rick Grimes, the main protagonist, has grown from: a tough guy police officer with a soft heart for helping others (almost always coming with a great personal risk) to the ultimate leader and survivor. Rick’s character arc during the first five seasons of the show, were about the ongoing growth/development of Rick, along with little benchmarks along the way in the form of gruesome but necessary murder. During Rick’s character arc, he goes through three major phases that reflect his morals and view of the world. These changes are then highlighted by the various brutal gory kills Rick has achieved. We as viewers get an in depth look at this gradual evolution as he fights to survive
When my mom asked if I wanted to see this year’s Lakeside musical, I honestly was a bit unwilling. It’s not that I didn’t want to support my two or three friends up on stage and in the crew; I just don’t have a very good track record with high school performances. I’m a critic: I have always been very critical of myself, and very critical of others. I unwittingly judge the actors onstage, and end up feeling guilty because I probably could have done no better. On top of this warped superiority/inferiority was the nature of the musical they were performing; all throughout third grade I had been obsessed with the movie-musical Hairspray. I knew all the songs, most of the lines, and wasn’t sure if anyone could top Queen Latifah. But I was mistaken.
A new tv series, Riverdale has been quickly gaining popularity. This series originally began as a comic series however artists believed that they wanted to bring these characters to life. The genre of this show cannot be conformed into one category. With gothic eerie undertones and a suspenseful storyline keeps every episode interesting. Riverdale in this rising popularity is addictive due to it’s dramatic character line, how it brings to life literature, and closes with a melodramatic cliff-hanger.
Regina strives for excellence, but other than her inspiring life, she shall first be recognized for more than what she does but for who she is, like her personality; beautiful, awesome and amazing, outgoing and funny, exhilarating and adventurous, goofy and silly, caring and kind, sweet, a perfect character, there is never a dull moment when hanging out with her. Though she has her serious moments, when it comes to having fun, she knows how to embrace herself. When music plays, she dances and sings, and does not care what she looks like or who is around. Sometimes showing your complete self is hard, but Regina is 100% herself. The times she hangs out with her girls or sometimes, even her brother, well, lets just say it is all laughs and giggles from there. Speaking of her brother, siblings fight daily and they have their differences, but Regina shows the roll of a wonderful big sister. Yes, some days her brother drives her crazy, but she would do absolutely anything for him, as well as her friends and family. There are times when she places herself before others, but she deserves that because she places others before herself the majority of the time. Regina likes to joke...
Say what you will about 2 Broke Girls, a lot of people out there love and adore it. Which got me wondering why? Where did they go right? If you haven 't been watching the show you 've probably at least seen the billboards and commercials and magazine articles about 2 Broke Girls and know the basics. 2 Broke Girls is Kat Denning 's character Max is the poor, waitress with a gift for making cupcakes as well as the rebel of the batch, and Beth Behr is her bubbly preppy fun loving blonde BFF Caroline, whose dad is in jail for being a total bad guy, leaving the one-time goody two shoes totally alone for the first time in her life broke and dependent on Max. Despite all of this, I kept right on watching, but it wasn 't until about halfway through
