Together, they win Capture the Flag for fifth Cohort. Gloria Skurzynski’s “Nethergrave” is a superior work of science fiction compared to Ray Bradbury's "A Sound of Thunder" because it has a more important theme, has better characterization, and is much more original. To elaborate in other words, Nethergrave artistically conveys a meaningful message through a distinct story while A Sound of Thunder bluntly restates a generic idea.

There are a few minor characters in the story. There’s Clarisse and there are the firemen. The firemen are only mentioned to give you a better perspective of their world. They are very obedient and don’t seem to have minds of their own. Their personalities are not shown and they don’t really play a significant role in the novel. Clarisse, however, is a big player. She is the reason that Montag decides to quit and print books instead. She is used to get things going and ignite the rebellion, but she is soon killed off. So, she doesn’t have a big enough role to be considered a major character. Most of the minor character4s are there to show contrast with some major characters. This way, you have a better insight as to who they really are.
...e realized he is from a Roman camp. Somewhere he thinks in San Francisco California called camp Jupiter he also knows where his strange markings on his arm came from; all the campers at camp Jupiter had their godly parent’s symbol tattooed on his forearm alone with dashes that counted how many years you where part of the camp for. Hera has switched the leaders of the camps who are Percy and Jason. Jason thanks Percy is at the roman camp, camp Jupiter. He just like Jason who doesn't remember anything about his past was thrown into a place where he does not belong. Hera switched them so the camps can learn to work together to find Geae and her evil minions the Giants and destroy them. They will build a giant flying boat that will carry a few campers from camp half blood to camp Jupiter, who will unite to seven heroes that are part of the great prophecy to defeat Geae.
He had multiple reasons for doing so: His family was threatened, some of his friends died at his enemy’s hand, and all the “gods”, including Percy’s father Poseidon, were faced with death. “The gods and Mount Olympus will still be destroyed, but it will be much messier. Much, much worse for you and your city. Either way, the Titans will rule" (Riordan 112). With the help of other demigods and Hades, the “god” of the underworld, Percy Jackson battled Kronos, a Titan. Even though Percy and his friends won, it came with a price. Rick Riordan, the author, writes “she [Selena] didn’t breathe again” (Riordan 155) and “The son of Nemesis fell through a fissure that went straight through the heart of the mountain—straight into open air” (Riordan 172). Percy Jackson stopped the Titans from completing their mission, therefore completing his: “We saved the world” (Riordan 196). Afterward, Percy was “heading back to Goode High for my sophomore year” (Riordan

Percy Jackson is the main character in this story, who is a demi god, who mortals are after. His name is short for Perseus and his father is one of the big three gods, Poseidon. He is suffering from dyslexia and ADHD, which could be deliberately added to the character by Riordan, to show he is meant to be a hero, and not to do well in school. This shows that school is not what he is good at, and he is destined to be a hero and save people. The character Grover, who plays Percy’s best friend, parallels a Satyr who is human from the waist up and goat from the waist down and is a companion of wine God, Dionysus, who we later learn, is the camp director for Half-Blood Camp.
There is a large cast of characters including the priest Sarastro (a very serious, proselytizing basso), the Queen of the Night (a mean, angry, scheming coloratura), and her daughter, the beautiful and courageous Pamina. There is the handsome hero, Tamino, on the quintessential road trip, and his cohort in misadventure, the bird seller, Papageno. Papageno ultimately finds his Papagena (who starts out disguised as a crone), Tamino ultimately wins Pamina, Sarastro presumably wins a passle of converts, and everyone goes home humming the catchy Mozart melodies. It is all presented in a plot complicated by a dragon, a threesome of warbling ladies in service to the Queen of the Night, another threesome of boy-angels, even a bully - Monostatos, guard for the Queen. It is lightened by such elements as locked lips, charmed animals, and, of course, a magic flute.
Over the course of this novel, Percy must embark on a quest to clear his name, much like Hercules had to endure his Twelve Labors. These Twelve Labors would prove to be a recurring theme for Percy throughout the entirety of his five-part series. While Hercules abandoned his quest with Jason for the Golden Fleece, Percy did not, and succeeded where the ancient hero had failed. Hercules was also directly referenced in Titan’s Curse in a flashback by Percy’s new friend and Hesperide Zoe, a goddess entrusted with protecting Hera’s apples which Hercules had stolen. Over the long chain of events throughout the entire series, Percy and his friends encountered and battled numerous monsters that Hercules had originally slain in his Twelve Labors, such as Cerberus, a hydra, the Nemean Lion, the Erymanthian Boar, and cleaning the Aegean stables, home to flesh-eating horses.
Then they find Percy, dripping wet and angry, but with the eagle standard. They climb on Arion with a load of weapons and rush to make it back to camp Jupiter before it’s destroyed. They find it at war. The legion is outnumbered and surrounded. Arion can’t run any farther. Tyson, Percy’s cyclops-half-brother, and Mrs. O'Leary, his giant hellhound from camp half blood show up. They charge and bring the weapons to the legion. Percy, aboard his colossal canine, fires lightning from the standard that incinerates half of the giants army. The amazons, lead by Queen Hylla, come to aid them in battle. Percy heads straight for the giant Polybotes. After luring him into city limits, he and Terminus, the god of boundaries, slay the giant and save the camp. The army chants to make him praetor. They do and they begin repairs. They get a magic scroll telling them that the Greeks are coming in a flying warship. They see it a go out to meet

He faces two sea monsters, Scylla who is part human, part animal, and Charybdis, who takes in water and spits it out 3 times a day. Then, the monster Scylla took the men, killing them. The monsters are believed to have come from the Mediterranean sea, were on one side there was dangerous, whirling, whirlpools and a jagged cliff that rose on the other.

Some of his family includes Laertes, his father, Penelope, his wife, and Telemachus, his son. There are many gods that Odysseus must battle on his journey home, including Zeus, who is said to be father of all gods, and Poseidon, the god of the ocean who punishes Odysseus and his crew by giving them a very difficult trip home after they blind his son, Polyphemus, or the Cyclops by blinding him after stabbing him in the eye. Another major character is Calypso, a sea goddess who is in love with Odysseus.
