Threw out the article judy blmue wrote about censorship a personal view she takes her readers on journey threw her eyes and makes them hop in her shoes to take a test drive threw her life and show her ins and outs of how she experience and dealt with censorship , with coming in contact ,learning ,and rebelling against it. She does in her article by using some clever yet effective ways of using the Rhetorical Strategies to get the reader to think a certain way and feel a certain way. Jude blume use the rhetorical strategies ethos, pathos, and logos to effectively persuade the reader and inform the reader that censorship is not up to a group of people but a personal choice.
In her article she first use ethos to let the reader know that she is credible in this topic and knows what she is talking about on the subject censorship. By letting the audience know that she know that she is credible she use for personal experience threw out life by coming in contact with censorship a daily basis by being an author and also threw her childhood experiences. (I found john o hara name on my reading list. No a specific title by john o hara , but any title . I didn’t waste my time. I went down to the public library in Elizabeth, new jersey, that afternoon-a place where id spent so many happy hours as a young child, id pasted a card pocket on the inside back cover of each book I owned and looked for a rage to live. But I couldn’t find it. When I ask the librarian told me that book was restricted. It was kept in a closet, and I couldn’t take it out without written permission from my parents.(317)) she also use the other credibility of the past teachers who have gotten fried over censored and banned martials in their curriculum (Colorado do English ...

Blume article is really well write, she knows what say that is not to over the top to come off bitter and rude against the censors. blume is asking us to re think the way in which is when something is unknown and controversial to us, that we would shy away but instead, take it head on and embrace it immerse our self’s in it and explain it to our younger generation and educate them on the unknown to so can bark on their own quest and expand their minds.
Margaret Sanger, a well known feminist and women's reproductive right activist in USA history wrote the famous speech: The Children's Era. What are the aspects of an underwear advertisement that make us want to buy them? “Hanes Her Way” by Brittany Gray, a freshman at Virginia Commonwealth University, analyzes an underwear advertisement by Hanes. Gray describes the starting scene as a “mild, relaxed morning.” She goes on to describe the music being played, “Fade Into You” by Mazzy Star and acknowledges that the soft ballad complements the pleasant setting. As the male actor speaks about how his wife’s white cotton underwear reminds him of his mother and his childhood, the commercial “fades out on the Hanes trademark.” By describing the commercial in detail, and backing up her statements with evidence, Gray states that this commercial depicts the fantasy of women well enough to make them want to buy the product.
In conclusion, Blume’s piece “Censorship: A Personal View” was used to debate and inform the hot button issue back then of censorship in young teens literature. She comprised personal experience when handling censorship in childhood and adult life. Her personal experience alone could not hold the article together but by listing others that have lost their jobs or been suspended adds extra credibility to let the readers know how censors and censorship can effect an author’s everyday right of freedom of speech.

US linked to new wave of censorship, surveillance on web”. The article states the benefits of censorship in a free society, although there are both benefits and dangers of censorship in a free society. Fahrenheit 451 responds to censorship in every detailed page of the book.
Ray Bradbury establishes the theme of self censorship in many ways. He uses books, to help convey the level of censorship. At one point in the story Beatty is explaining to Montag that “It didn’t come from the government down. There was no dictum, no declaration, no censorship, to start with, Technology, mass exploitation, and minority pressure carried the trick.” The censorship in the story, wasn't from the government, the members of society censored themselves. They began an evolution, making censorship the focal point.
Imagine a world full of chaos and fights. With no secrets and everything out in the open. In the twenty-first century, censorship is used everywhere. Even if it is unknown to the public. Censorship is always around, whether it be a certain book the public can read, or internet sites people can visit, to classified documents that could be harmful if gotten out to the open world. Since the dawn of time, censorship has been used. Even in Ray Bradbury’s book, Fahrenheit 415, censorship is used as a conflict dealing with the main character and what too much censorship is such as the government making books illegal. Bradbury’s book takes censorship to the extreme such as in this statement, “‘Do you ever read the books you burn?” he laughed “That’s
Censorship is defined as the act of taking out unacceptable parts from books, movies, and other content available to the public eye. In Ray Bradbury’s novel, Fahrenheit 451, censorship takes over a major part of the citizen’s lives. In the modernistic era, the story is based upon a lot of television and is censored to the important and educational content we have in the present, such as; books, which open doors to infinite amounts of knowledge.
The people who question censorship and the use of censorship are known as the people who are against or anti-censorship. People who are anti-censorship believes that nothing should be hidden, and that everything should be open to the public. Gavin Mcinnes is a 45-year-old (2016) who is a writer, an actor, and comedian. Gavin Mcinnes had written an article which was taken down because it “has been reported by the community as hateful or abusive content” (Brown 1). The people who read Mcinnes article didn’t have to read or continue reading it when they became displeased with Mcinnes’s view. Those people did not have to read it if they did not like it. “The publication can choose what to publish… no matter how much outrage that content provokes”
Lastly, there is censorship that involves someone who is part of an organized campaign, whether of a local or national group, and who goes in ready for a fight and wants to make a broader political point” (Miner 1998). Although there are many other ways that a piece of literature could get censored, most censored works are asked to be removed from classrooms and school libraries. There are four motivational factors that may lie behind a censor’s actions. Those factors include family values, religion, political views, and minority rights.... ... middle of paper ... ...2003.
Books are banned for many reasons but more times than not it is because of the sensitive information found within the novel that agitates the reader. As long as people have been able to develop their own opinions, others have sought to prevent them from sharing. At some point in time, every idea has ultimately become objectionable to someone. The most frequently challenged and most visible targets of such objection are the very books found in classrooms and public libraries. These controversial novels teach lessons that sometimes can be very sensitive to some but there is much more to challenged books than a controversial topic. What lies within these pages is a wealth of knowledge, such as new perspectives for readers, twisting plots, and expressions that are found nowhere else. For example, To Kill A Mockingbird, contains references to rape, racial content, and profanity that have caused many to challenge the novel in the first place. The book was banned from countless
According to Peter S. Jenison “Children deprived of words become school dropouts; dropouts deprived of hope behave delinquently. Amateur censors blame delinquency on reading immoral books and magazines, when in fact, the inability to read anything is the basic trouble.” Jenison is trying to tell us that censorship will damage our future generations due to the amount of tension it has put our society in. Books teach us lessons and if this books are abolished then lessons, ideas and real events of the real world are also banished from students.
Nothing lasts forever. Over our lifetime, we must learn to let go of the items we love and accept that everything good must eventually perish. In "Annabel Lee", Edgar Allen Poe uses metaphors and imagery to illustrate that realizing all good things must come to an end is a key trait that we all must learn to master in order to succeed in life. Poe uses metaphors to characterize how strong his love was between him and his beloved, but also to communicate that their love couldn't overcome death. For example, when Poe said,"And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes", he was comparing the stars to his lover's eyes.
Brinkley describes a few actions that can lead to the censoring of a book in a school or school system: An expression of concern is simply a question about the material with overtones of disapproval; an oral complaint is an oral challenge to the contents of a work; a written complaint is a formal written challenge to the school about the contents of a work; and a public attack is a public statement challenging the contents of a work that is made outside of the school, usually to the media to gain support for further action (1999). Brinkley also points out an important difference between selection and censorship: Selection is the act of carefully choosing works for an English course that will be age-appropriate, meaningful, and fulfill objectives, while censorship is the act of excluding works that some con...
