Every point of view is considered an argument in everyday life. Although many arguments are thought to be based on a point to win, not all arguments aim to win out over others. Writers and speakers have many purposes for arguing and take on different usages of languages such as; to inform, to convince, to explore, to make decisions, and even to meditate or pray. on eradicating world hunger.
Her use of hard facts such as; there are over 17 million hungry children in the world, 3 out of every 5 children go to school hungry and 1 out of every 5 children are currently living in a food-poor house, this information gives the audience a perspective of what is going on around the world. The ability to inform people will give rise to others that are able and willing to help with the important cause. She told her whole audience why she joined the campaign, she wanted to help herself. By joining and helping the Hunger Is campaign, she now has a new sense of self. The argument of persuasion is included into her speech as well, she first used points to inform others on the amount of hunger in the world. She then persuades the audience to help eradicate, childhood hunger. She believes the everyone should have a voice and no one should be unspoken. She also believes that every child should have a chance at the American Dream, and no one should live in a world where they can't afford to be fed. Viola Davis made a statement to the audience about her formally tough life. She used to be 1 out of the 17 million hungry kids in the world. She did all this and it resulted in sacrificing her childhood for food that she wasn't provided with in the first place. The actions she described, made it so society understood the hardships and struggles she went through. Being able to help children facing the difficulties that she had to face, means the world to her. Her future goals are expressed through the act of eradicating world hunger, as she expresses through her thoughts and emotions. Viola Davis created an emotional atmosphere when speaking to her audience.
She used ethos to describe the childhood hunger that is being dealt with around the world. When referencing that she was 1 out of the 17 million children living in poverty, it captured the audience and kept them intrigued. She mentioned that her mom had one picture of her from when she was little. The picture included Viola smiling from ear to ear with her hair in a little ponytail, she said, “...and I have to tell you, that's me, that's who I remember every time I wake up…” She has a true purpose when she is giving that speech, she gives it with emotion and purity. She grasps the audience and takes them for a journey through her past, as she tries to create a bright future among the 17 million children living in poverty
today. Viola Davis reacher her audience through her emotions and use of differing arguments. Many in the U.S., today, try to eat well, balanced, meals to order to maintain a healthy lifestyle. They do so by purchasing their food at farmers markets or making their own meals, so their food isn’t processed or genetically modified. Even though people are trying to maintain health in order to live long lives, without medical complications, many don’t have the opportunity to pursue life like this. In “Research shows food deserts more abundant in minority neighborhoods,” the author, Kelly Brooks, portrays an anecdote and logical reasoning, from Kelly Bower’s research, to thoroughly describe the food deserts in poor minority neighborhoods and how this issue needs to be repaired.
She understands just how unfair America can be to people who don’t fit in. She knows that she doesn’t seem like the best representative for the group of people she mentioned, but she wants the audience at the DNC to know that she has their best interests at heart. Mrs. Glaser wants the DNC audience to join her in the fight against AIDS. Glaser also uses Pathos in her speech. “Exactly four years ago, my daughter died of AIDS.
...n our country. She’s saying that the advancement of women is getting stuck between a rock and a hard place. This was such a strong point in her speech because it shed light into the logical thinking, and made a historical connection to slavery. By making this connection, she was able to help many see that women were convicted slaves to the current state of the union.
Also, the fact that she debuted this speech at the National American Woman Suffrage Association is critical because it stirred up a certain determination and emotions that other groups may not have had, as well as the logical reasoning behind relating women’s suffrage and child labor laws.
Have you ever wondered how influential people write great speeches that grab people's attention? They use a literary device called, rhetorical appeals. As supported in Hillary Clinton’s November 03, 2016 speech, uniting the American Public, will lead to an advantageous country. In her speech for the Democratic National Convention it states that, as elected for president, she will get everyone saying “We” instead of “I”. To reach out to the American Citizens and grab their attention, Clinton uses many rhetorical devices as she speaks. Using Logos, Pathos, and Ethos, the people of America jump on board with Clinton's ideas.
People started to open their ears and their hearts. Her overall purpose is to show that there is a gap between men and women that cannot be overlooked and sidestepped for any longer. Women don't only deserve the right to vote, but they deserve the same rights as men. Applying logos, juxtaposition, and strong use of diction to her speech, she connects to her audience and reveals to them the reasons why what she is saying is crucial to the country.
PepsiCo with almost a 3-minute commercial using Kendall Jenner as the silent communication source, using visual language with all ethnic and race being included using career choices such as a cellist, a photographer and dancer; a song written and sung by Skip Marley “Lions”; not to mention the men in blue was expected to be a hit advertisement by showing it was time to bring the world together as one. To be able to bring peace and understanding to every individual or let it be shown that all people count, not just one ethnic group or race. This advertisement was used to try to defuse the conflict of street protest and the violence that often comes with it, particularly the black lives matter movement. Showing the men in blue there to protect and serve; yet will do whatever it takes to control the ongoing issue at hand. The way Jenner being shown ditching a high fashion photo shoot ripping off her blonde wig, to join a protest and prance around with every nationality with a Pepsi in hand smiling as saying this is what will make the world a better place. The goal of Hillary’s speech is to persuade her audience that her ideas are valid, by using ethos, pathos, and logos. Hillary is the First Lady and Senator, she shows credibility as an influential activist for woman rights. “Over the past 25 years, I have worked persistently on issues relating to women, children, and families. Over the past two and a half years, I’ve had the opportunity to learn more about the challenges facing women in my country and around the world” (Clinton 2).
“Is it any wonder that the slogan the advertising people came up with was “The Sooner You Believe It, the Sooner We Can End It”?”. Anna Quindlen has chosen to write about child hunger in America. She persuades her readers effectively because of her use of logos, pathos, and ethos.
Hillary Rodham Clinton is a well-recognized woman in the United States. Her great contribution as Secretary of State impacted people’s lives. One of many remarkable speeches Clinton gave was the “The Women Rights Speech” at the 4th World Conference on Women Plenary Session, where she used strong words and emotions to appeal to the audience. Even though the speech talked about women's rights, she wanted everyone, including men and children, to listen and take action. Her use of ethos, logos and pathos throughout the speech helped people understand women live in a world where they suffer discrimination, and she proposes solutions to solve the issue.

Many people do not realize that the jobs in the fast food industry are very dangerous. These are the jobs that no one realizes what it’s like behind the scenes. The workers face high rates of injury in the factories and in fast food restaurants, so we feel like we shouldn’t support the fast food industries. In chapters three and eight of “Fast Food Nation,” Eric Schlosser uses pathos to highlight the fact that fast food jobs are difficult as well as dangerous. The jobs involved with fast food are so dangerous that more regulations should be reinforced more firmly, as well as more laws should be put into place.
In his article “Poverty is Literally Making People Sick Because They Can't Afford Food” Matthew O'Brien writes about how low income persons are more likely to get sick at the end of the month because they can't afford food. O'Brien explains how people living from paycheck to paycheck are often out of cash by the end of the month and can no longer afford food ,this problem also applies to those dependant on benefits or food stamps. For people with Diabetes the problem goes beyond hunger and they may end up with Hypoglycemia. As stated by O’Brien “The basic idea is that people struggling to make it paycheck-to-paycheck might run out of money at the end of the month—and
