The assignment I choose is my passion speech. This assignment involved me thinking about what I was passionate about and make a speech on my passion. Mr. Wilcox expected me to have three to two minute speech with me having to remember some of my essay. This particular assignment is related to my 30 second speeches when I am presenting my tutorials in my group. Mr.Wilcox made us do a passion speech so we could practice talking in front of people. Throughout the assignment I wasn't expecting myself to earn an A because I am a shy person when it comes to presenting. The process for me completing the assignment was for me to think about what I am passionate about and then type it up. I wanted to receive an A on my speech so I tried to overcome
my fear of talking in front of people. During the assignment I didn't do much thinking just for when I was deciding what I was passionate about. I spent approximately two weeks working on the passion speech. Much of the work I did during class and some at my home. Of course, one thing I need to know what I am passionate about and how or why I am passionate about the specific topic. I expected myself receiving a B on my speech because I get nervous. To conclude, I chose my passion speech because it was a big assignment that was given to my class in trimester two which was worth 100 points. This assignment wasn't the easiest or the hardest, but I was proud of me being able to go up and present my speech to my class. Mr.Wilcox idea of the passion speech was for me to learn how to prepare a speech and what not to do or do when I present. Me talking in front my class wasn't the best, but It was a exemplary work because I went up with courage of not being nervous and I learned from my mistakes. The passion speech will help me in the future when it comes towards talking in front of an audience.
The author’s main argument in “Rhetoric: Making Sense of Human Interaction and Meaning-Making” is that rhetoric does not need to be complicated if writers incorporate certain elements to their writing. Downs further analyzed the elements that contribute to rhetoric such as symbols and signals, motivation, emotion, ecology, reasoning and identification. The author emphasized that writers can learn how to deliver their writing effectively once they are more aware on how rhetoric works. Downs constantly assures that rhetoric is quite simple and does not need to provoke fuzziness. Before analyzing the speech, I conducted research about the speaker to know a little bit about his background. Then, I observed the context of the speech and how the audience reacted to his statements. After doing these two things it was much easier to understand and form my opinion about the speech.
In Robert Waldinger’s What Makes a Good Life speech, he grabs the audience's attention by at the start of the speech by asking them a question, thus engaging them into what he about to say. The question is what makes they healthy and happy and where they would invest their time and energy as they go through life which is ultimately what his speech is about.
The primary function of rhetoric is to find the best means available for persuasion and as a result, they have been divided into three types. Epideictic rhetoric, deliberative rhetoric, and forensic rhetoric epideictic rhetoric are sometimes referred to as ceremonial oratory, and this is considered as a rhetoric that is used to blame or praise during ceremonies (Sheard, 1996). The rhetoric of ceremony, declamation, commemoration, play, entertainment and self-display is mostly utilized in festivals and formal events for instance anniversaries such as births, marriages or death.
Previous to this course, I had never been exposed to rhetoric, nor did I understand rhetoric and its influence the first time it was introduced to me. In addition to having limited exposure to rhetoric, this was my first real writing assignment for an AP course. The process I used to complete this essay is far different from the process I’ve developed throughout this school year. I allowed my anxiety to override my brain, resulting in me stressing myself throughout the whole writing process. Rather than accepting that I am good enough for an AP course, I doubted my writing skills and drove myself crazy by second-guessing every word and phrase I typed. I relentlessly researched rhetoric, vocabulary, and other writing knowledge, which would be beneficial for the future, but I let all of the writing skills I had not yet acquired prevent me from using the skills I did have to write a great essay. Now, I type everything I have to say about the essay topic and then review my work only fixing what needs to be fixed. At this point in time I had difficulty quoting text; I had to learn how to stop drop quoting and when to use brackets, commas, and ellipses. Looking back on this essay, I wish I had taken notes on the text, as it would have made analyzing structure far easier. I also wish I had asked for help when I felt unsure about rhetoric rather than trying to find answers

Are teacher was hoping that we weere going to finsh the essay and prosent the speech with good eye contact, good expresion, and good poster. I have prsented a couple speech’s about baseball before, and i always say the same memoriez when i was a little kid. On account of this, persuasion is just a logical and well supported arguments; an argument is the enounce of the orator’s position with the aid of the rhetorical strategies (logos, ethos and pathos).But the question is how to be a successful persuasive speaker? The response is easy, convince the audience or change their behaviour without using any strategy that violate any of the ethical principles.

According to dictionary.com, “any powerful or compelling emotion or feeling” constitutes something as a passion. Passions can be either positive or negative. In my life, my passions influence my actions and my goals for the future. My goals have been a part of my life since I can remember and there are certain personality traits and motivators of mine that push me to accomplish these goals. My passions have originated from events I have gone through and realizations that I have come to. These huge motivators in my life include my desire for happiness, my determination to succeed, and my desire to help others.
During the course of this semester; the variety of writing styles and essays assigned to me in my communication skills class encouraged the development of my writing skills, as well as provided me with more self-assurance in my abilities. My writing, research, and presentation abilities enhanced through practice, determination, and the understanding I gained during this course. With every single writing assignment, I learned new innovative approaches and skills, which enhanced my abilities to improve my thoughts logically, enabling me to write more clearly, and to organize my papers more effectively. At the beginning of this semester; despite the fact that I already knew the terminology MAP: message, audience, purpose; I never really understood the significance of MAP. For this reason, my writing lacked clarity, organization, and my writings appeared less focused on the topics. As a result my research papers and essays did not flow as smoothly from one passage to the next. Furthermore, I was unaccustomed with the precise procedures used when writing an essay. For instance, my previous classes before college, although requiring a reference page, did not require me to include proper citations in my writings. After evaluating the quality of my writing toward the end of the semester, I recognized vast improvements in several areas of my writing. By concentrating on the beginning stages of my writings, I could distinguish ahead of time my audience and my message. As a result, my essays are clear, and I remain on topic. In addition to that using transition phrases efficiently also helps my writing to flow smoothly. The proper use of transitions makes my writings easy to follow from one topic to the next. While brainstorming the process essay, I realized my weaknesses and planned better how to strengthen them. I knew simple grammatical errors and transitions were two of the most important ones I needed to correct. So while thinking of my topics to include in my essay, I thought of how each of them connected. In what ways can I draw connections between the three of these topics? Through asking myself this question, I transitioned from the paragraph of agency background to volunteer work with a more satisfying flow (“The Civic Responsibility” 2).
