As the world turns, darkness spreads throughout the lands affecting us all with its cold grasp. Poverty, drought, plague, famine, recession, all of times problems funneling down to a worsening reality. Millions of children dying in the streets and millions without food on their table, it is clear we’re on a downward spiral. As the great godchild of humanity, the United States fights on every front the corrupting forces of evil, acting as a global police for the greater good. A shining pillar of light, breaking through the darkness, stands as the only barrier between the hordes of evil. Sadly the light is dimming; the U.S. is slowly succumbing to the ever powerful Acherontic hordes. We need help, all of us, for soon, even our great nation will …show more content…
With over a million of our nation’s finest men and women fighting for the greater good, and hundreds of thousands deployed internationally to ensure global peace, the fatherland of America, is oddly desolate of protection. With the National Guard spread thin, it’s hard for our nation to rally enough force to solve our nation’s problems be it with illegal immigration or poverty reduction. The time has come to call upon our nations little army, the Boy and Girl scouts. With the Boy Scout organization turning one hundred years old this year, many people are wondering why the scouts have never been summoned, and I concur, I believe we should finally call in our debt of years of buying cookies and …show more content…
Halting health care reform, consuming our tax dollars, taking our jobs, this problem needs to be dealt with before it’s too late. But what can stop the hordes from our xenophobic fatherland? The choice is clear, our nation can be purged with a “little” help. With over five million active duty Boy and Girl Scouts, and 1.3 million learning for life scouts in reserve, the nation could be constantly patrolled by these honor driven, short, devoted individuals. As an Eagle Scout myself, I know the rigorous training we go through to be promoted, and much of this training comes in handy when it comes to apprehending criminals. Not only are scouts trained in rudimentary language, and diplomacy, but scouts are knowledgeable when it comes to physical altercations. All boy scouts are equipped with a knife, and rope: tools of a trade devoted to ensuring Americas safety. Also, we are skilled in the manor of wilderness survival, a skillset essential for tracking down illegals, and surviving where they make their cross into America, an arid desert, in the case of the Mexican border. With these skills, scouts could be deployed at a moment’s notice and could begin America’s transformation. Another issue afflicting the nation is our decaying infrastructure. According to the US Bridge Infrastructure report card, 27% of bridges in the United States are rated structurally deficient or functionally obsolete
This campaign mission must convey the importance of the programs the WWP provides and stress the need for the financial support of the public. WWP over the years has demonstrated that it is successful at raising funds for its organization and programs with an extensive list of corporate sponsors (Current Corporate Sponsors, n.d.). An area that the WWP has not developed is a marketing campaign that targets Americans age 25-40 years old who are the exact same age as veterans the WWP is dedicated to serving. Focusing on this age group similarity in our campaign would allow our target audience to identify with the WWP alumni while at the same time increasing awareness about the WWP. While the monetary donations may not add up to the big donations from corporations, brining public awareness to the organization will allow the organization to expand nationally and have locations in all 50
The United States Army is an important subculture within our society. It has many uniquely defining attributes, which separate it from the general culture and from the subcultures of the other branches of the military. The Army’s subculture is critical to the effective operation and discipline of the Army. The Army is critical to the survival of our country, our society, and our way of life. Only certain individuals are willing to accept the demands of this subculture to be soldiers in order to preserve our freedoms for their own, and future, generations.
Let’s be wary and vigilant and not permit horrific catastrophe to happen! Wake up all you American Apologists while you still have precious breath in your lungs to do your pathetic apologizing! It’s now time for all Americans to openly acknowledge that Freedom Isn’t Free and that these dire times require the tried and true virtues of struggle, sacrifice and perseverance.
middle of paper ... ... Children within the United States whose parents serve in the military are left to deal with issues of separation and fear. The fear of not knowing when their parents are coming home, and if they’ll come back to the same person they were when they left. Since we are incapable of hiding violence and the act of war from children, it is better to help them understand the meaning behind it and teach them that violence is not always the answer. Children react based on what they see and hear, and if the community and world around them portrays positive things, then the child will portray a positive attitude as well.
My interviewee went through a lot during World War II and sharing her amazing story left me evaluating her words for a long time, rethinking and still not willing to imagine the pain. She was one of the 150,000 American woman served in the Women’s Army Corps during the war years. They were one of the first ones to serve in the ranks of the United States Army. She recalls being teased a lot about being a young woman in a uniform but was very proud of it. Women finally were given the opportunity to make a major contribution to the national affair, especially a world war. It started with a meeting in1941 of Congresswoman Edith Nourse Rogers and General George Marshall, who was the Army’s Chief of Staff. Rogers asked General to introduce a bill to establish an Army women’s corps, where my interviewee, Elizabeth Plancher, was really hoping to get the benefits after the World War II along with other women. ( Since after World War I women came back from war and were not entitled to protection or any medical benefits. )

Jim Crow, a series of laws put into place after slavery by rich white Americans used in order to continue to subordinate African-Americans has existed for many years and continues to exist today in a different form, mass incarceration. Jim Crow laws when initially implemented were a series of anti-black laws that help segregate blacks from whites and kept blacks in a lower social, political, and economic status. In modern day, the term Jim Crow is used as a way to explain the mass incarcerations of blacks since Jim Crow laws were retracted. Through mass incarceration, blacks are continuously disenfranchised and subordinated by factors such as not being able to obtain housing, stoppage of income, and many other factors. Both generations of Jim Crow have been implemented through legal laws or ways that the government which helps to justify the implementation of this unjust treatment of blacks.

The United States of America’s national immigration problem has sparked many bitter altercations and deliberations among the political spectrum of the United States government. Approximately thirteen million illegal immigrants are currently residing within United States borders. The processes involved in both legal and illegal immigration needs to be reformed and become more restrictive towards those illegal immigrants.
Throughout the world children younger than 18 are being enlisted into the armed forces to fight while suffering through multiple abuses from their commanders. Children living in areas and countries that are at war are seemingly always the ones being recruited into the armed forces. These children are said to be fighting in about 75 percent of the world’s conflicts with most being 14 years or younger (Singer 2). In 30 countries around the world, the number of boys and girls under the age of 18 fighting as soldiers in government and opposition armed forces is said to be around 300,000 (“Child Soldiers: An Overview” 1). These statistics are clearly devastating and can be difficult to comprehend, since the number of child soldiers around the world should be zero. Furthermore, hundreds of thousands adolescent children are being or have been recruited into paramilitaries, militias and non-state groups in more than 85 countries (“Child Soldiers: An Overview” 1). This information is also quite overwhelming. Child soldiers are used around the world, but in some areas, the numbers are more concentrated.
The problem in America is the health care crisis. We all fear government ran programs and operations so we are all reluctant to allow this government aided system into our nation. We all wonder how we spend the most amount of money on health care than any other nation and our quality of care is not as high as them other nations. Next year our health care cost is expected to escalate to 4$ trillion dollars. The quality of health care still remains low. In the United States there are high number of people that do not have insurance at all. There are also people paying ridiculous prices for insurance it all has created a modern day crisis and a highly debeated topic in America.
...lly sure if there is an exact way to fix the whole problem. Let’s hope for our sake, the government can come up with a Healthcare Reform Bill that will at least resolve some of the issues. That way every American can have proper health care in the future.
“Of any one hundred boys who become Scouts, it must be confessed that thirty will drop out in their first year. Perhaps this may be regarded as a failure, but later in life, all of these will remember that they had been in Scouting and will speak well of the program… Each of the one hundred will learn something from Scouting, and all will develop hobbies that will add interest throughout the rest of their lives. Approximately one-half will serve in the military, and in varying degrees, profit from their Scout training… At least one will use it to save another person’s life, and many may credit it for saving their own. One in four boys in America will become Scouts, but it is interesting to know that of the leaders of this nation in business, religion and politics, three out of four were Scouts” (One Hundred Scouts Poem). The scouting program has changed the lives of many, whether it is providing them with a second chance at life or serving our nation on the other side of the world, or even being a leader on the political economic or social spectrum, and none of this would have even been remotely possible without the person who started the world wide scouting movement. This man is Lord Baden Powell. “He was born in February 1857 and joined the military in 1876 and was best in his class. In 1906 he wrote the handbook for boys and started the scouting movement” (Robert Baden Powell 1). The handbook for boys was a catalyst for teaching boys and girls everywhere the wonders of the outdoors while at the same time instilling the morals and knowledge that successful people around the world deserve to know. Lord Baden should be the man of the millennium because he has been able to better the world and community by encouraging youth to give...
A study done in 2012 by the Girl Scout Research Institute, reported that “women who were Girl Scouts as children display significantly more positive life outcomes” than women who were not involved in scouts (Tompkins). This does not mean the women were involved for all twelve years. Even a small amount of time in th...
What changes are there to make to this country’s flawed immigration policy to fix it? Immigration control is a growing problem in the United States. Illegal immigrants are coming into this country and taking advantage of Americans’ jobs without becoming a citizen first. The U.S. needs to reinforce its border security and implement a new guest worker program. If the government does not do this America could become overpopulated and the amount of jobs would decrease even more. On the other hand, telling the immigrants to leave, instead of trying to work with them, could make America seem hateful and unwelcoming to new people entering the country. The government does not want to come off as unwelcoming so that they can keep up their reputation around the world. The current laws and policies regarding the immigration policy are extremely flawed and need to be changed.
