Recently I have read a few books. Some of the books I have read include; Six Months Later by Natalie Richards as well as Returnable Girl by Pamela Lowell. The book Returnable Girl by Pamela Lowell has impacted me for reasons such as I can relate to the main character through her thoughts in addition to her feelings. Through the books I have read either by recommendation or by my own searching I have found a few authors that I favor. The authors’ names are Kiera Cass, Riche Tankersley Cusick, as well as Lauren Kate. Even as a young child, I remember seeing my sister read, so being the younger sister I wanted to read the same genres she did which was mostly fiction as well as fantasy. As I grew I still love reading fiction, fantasy, along with …show more content…
These are my strengths because when I am assigned an assignment with a due date I always make sure it is turned in on time. Also taking ownership of my own learning is a strength of mine, because when I do not do well on a test or assignment I always do my best to raise the grade. A weakness of mine in the soft skills category is small-group discussion, because I am not the type of person to talk to individuals easily. As of when I am not in school, I am involved in less than I would like to be. Even so, I am involved in a few activities. Outside of my school work I practice archery as well as I am involved in Concert Choir. In my free time I enjoy reading, writing, practicing music, listening to music, practicing archery, as well as running. All those listed are also the best ways for me to relax.
I in my life so far have not traveled anywhere interesting. Taking into consideration, in the summer of 2018 I will be traveling to Europe with the school my step-mom’s sister works at. All to know about me is that if I am ever called on in class I may freeze for a second as well as stutter as I have mentioned I do not talk directly to or in front of people easily. Through all that could be known about me, that is one of the most important. Regardless of my weaknesses, I continue to push myself to strengthen the weaknesses I
My parents have always stressed the importance of reading. Throughout my whole life, they have motivated me to read and they have encouraged me to find books that I find interesting to read. Because of their encouragement, I am an avid reader today. When I was a child, just starting to enjoy reading I liked to read books that were fiction. Some of my favorite books to read as a child are series that I still love today and I think I still have every book in each series stored in my attic. They are The Boxcar Children, Junie B. Jones, and The Magic Tree House.
I believe that everyone has their own strength and weaknesses, but not everyone is able to figure out their strengths and weaknesses correctly. Knowing our own strengths and weaknesses is essential because it can help to achieve success in anything we choose to do. For me, my weakness is the time management, communication skills and weak in preparing effective Curriculum Vitae (CV) Below will be further explaining all my personal weaknesses and the ways to overcome it.
After completing the Clifton strength finders test, I learned my dominant strengths and it gave me a sense on what areas I am strong in. It allows you to work in the areas that you are good in and not in the ones you might not be as strong in. My top five strengths were learner, connectedness, belief, positivity, and includer. A lot of these I figured I would have because I am an athlete and I love to be positive. That is good because I practice these strengths every day which in turn will make me better at them and will allow me to use them in my career.
These strengths and weaknesses were mainly discovered through the papers that we have written. I have many strengths when I’m writing papers and at the same time, I have many weaknesses. In my papers, I have noticed that one of my biggest strengths is how articulate I am. The papers that have been written by myself show that I structured sentences to present ideas in different ways. It is not straightforward and boring when ideas are presented. I like to keep the reader hooked on my paper. In order to keep up with this strength, I like to read articles. The articles I read are typically the ones that present new ideas or start arguments. This is one of my strengths that I am very proud
My five strengths according to the strength finder include; balance, this helps me be aware of treating all people equally regardless of the situation. I am neither in anyone 's favor or against anyone as this to me is selfishness and individualism. This would result in a situation where some people scale heights due to connections while others are lagging behind. I believe that a consistent environment where the rules apply to everyone is the best for individuals to function best (Rath, 2007). Flexibility is my next strength. By knowing that things do not always work out as planned has helped me change the tactics of how I perform my tasks. I do not always expect to have a smooth flow of opportunities or accomplish goals, but
I have a variety of hobbies outside school. When time allows, I find playing the keyboard and creative writing, such as poetry, a change from my studies. I enjoy using computers as a hobby and to broaden the skills I have gained from my RSA word processing course. My other pursuits include more physical activities such as attending the gym regularly, dancing and cycling.
Besides this immersion into a world of books, I credit my love of reading to the fact that my parents only let me watch an hour of TV a day. I learned to use my mind and imagination to entertain myself. It's not really surprising that literature became my vocation. When not reading or writing, I enjoy watching films, baking, going to the city to eat Thai and Ethiopian food, walking, and relaxing with my friends.
One strength I saw myself, as having when I enter college is being able to understand and critical think about a essay/article that I have read. However, after taking English 101, I have now learned that this is a strength of mine as well as a weakness.
Another strength that I have is being an active listener. I listened to my clients and utilized a lot of micro skills. Insuring confidentiality was also a strength that I developed closer to the end of field placement. Conducting assessments and making sure I tracked and exhausted the topics was also a strength that I identified throughout field. Practicing from a strengths perspective was also another area I excelled at when working with my clients. A skill that I could work on is being more conscious of self in terms of body language during interviews, because at times I find myself with my arms cross which may give an indication that I’m closed off or
What type of books I read have changed over time. In the past I read fantasy fiction, but today my favorite genres are non-fiction and historical fiction. Reading captivates me for a couple of reasons. First, reading is interesting: no matter the book, fiction or non-fiction, reading brings
I would describe some of strengths as being able to define clear objectives when working in group settings whether it is in the working world or in academic settings and communicating clearly to the rest of the people in my group when I am in the lead or not. I communicate clearly to other people what I want to achieve out of working in a group, but also what I want them to achieve themselves. As a leader it is imperative that I allow other people in the group to learn and grow along with the rest of the group. I enjoy defining clear objectives when I am a leader and not a leader because it provides the rest of my peers an efficient way of working together. If the objectives are not clear and concise then the productivity of the group will
Despite what we are taught at school and what we have to read as part of our studies, as humans we develop our own taste. Some people prefer to read fiction, some enjoy reading educational materials and some do not appreciate reading at all. With that said, my own preference is to read narrative fiction, to which I was introduced by my parents at a very young age. The book I love the most, which might
Growing up I have always been fond of learning and taking in new information, and exploring the world around me. As early as my head start years, I found that I loved to read books and I would sit quietly all day in a corner by myself reading. My love of reading came from me watching my older sister read, and I remember I would get jealous because I could not read yet. Because of that, I demanded that I have books too, and soon I was able to teach myself new words and read all by myself. My passion for reading and understanding the information grew into something more as I got older and enrolled in school.
Reading has almost always been an integral part of my life. I remember way back when I was a little kid, my mom helped me learn how to read in small steps. When I was young, I did not really enjoy writing. Eventually, both reading and writing became things I enjoyed and even abilities I employed in my spare time. Reading and writing are both in my favorite hobbies, although I do not have as much time for them as I did in high school.
One of my greatest strengths at work that I have recognized would have to be my ability to be a well-organized individual. I tend to write what I have to do down on paper and prioritize what is more important to least important. In doing this, it helps me organize and accomplish my work and meet deadlines that are important. A personal strength that I have at home is patience. I am a mother of a beautiful three year old little girl who is a handful. Patience is my greatest strength as a parent and individual which I possess especially being a single mother. I am a dedicated and hard working mother and I always make sure that my daughter gets the love and attention she needs.
