Spanish and western-Mediterranean influences are uniform throughout the flavors and venue. The chic, modern atmosphere is equipped with ample power outlets to provide the perfect workplace for the productive coffee drinker. Imported foreign blends and locally baked goods unite to create a perfect harmony of flavors from near and far. The Instagram-famous aspect of the restaurant appeals to social media butterflies with an affinity for art. Dynamic artwork, the friendly staff, and addicting flavors encourage recurrent visits. Spanish flavors are integrated into the food and drink at Lorca to incorporate the culture of the Mediterranean. By drawing ties to savory delicacies served on the other side of the Atlantic, the charming cafe is set apart from the surrounding American-based chain restaurants. Foreign blends are imported to diversify the restaurant and provide high-quality coffee for loyal customers. Lorca is famous for their pour-over coffee, a technique very pleasing for coffee aficionados. It is not a feeble task; a special kettle, high-quality beans, and extreme patience are required to achieve this unique specialty. Flavors are distinct and even sweet. The unique decor and fantastic music give it the feel of an NYC cafe. The friendly staff also contributes to the pleasant environment. All of the capable baristas are introduced on the restaurant’s website, with short and sweet bios about them all. This creates a close-knit family, all with a love for quality coffee. This familiarity encourages loyalty to the coffee shop. The full wall of windows provides a view of Bedford Street and again stresses that the products should be enjoyed in the morning. On a sunny morning, the light fills the cafe and illuminates the mural, a focal point. The artistic, wispy design disguises a boring brick wall as a magnificent work of art. The cozy and intimate setting encourages the consumer to return to enjoy the food and people that they love.
This analysis paper will analyze one advertisement picture that was produced by the mega food chain known as McDonalds. The ad is exuberantly promoting three cheeseburgers that the fast food chain is attempting to sell. The three cheeseburgers on the advertisement are the more popular attractions of the fast food chain including the “Angus Deluxe Third pounder”, the “Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese”, and the most famous one of all, “The Big Mac”. These three cheeseburgers have been the baseline for the McDonalds fast food chain ever since the restaurant opened. The burgers are also known world wide, making this advertisement is just a way to get the public to come and buy there food.
One of my favorite commercials to watch is the Chick-Fil-A commercials. Their commercials are very ironic but at the same time interesting and entertaining. The main purpose of their commercial is to persuade an audience to go and buy their product or maybe convince an audience to come back again and buy more of their product. They are able to influence their audience through the use of rhetorical elements. Rhetorical elements include: the rhetor, discourse, audience, and rhetorical triangle. Their commercials don’t necessarily target one particular audience, they incorporate different ideas into their commercial to target different audiences such as families, and football fans.
In recent years, it is not even necessary to turn on the news to hear about the bad reputation farming has been getting in recent years. What with the media focusing on things like drugs in animals and Pink Slime, or Lean Finely Textured Beef, it is a wonder that people are eating “non-organic” foods. However, many pro-farming organizations having been trying to fight back against these slanders. Still, the battle is not without heavy competition, and a good portion of it comes from Chipotle, a fast food Mexican restaurant that claims to only use completely organic ingredients in their food. Chipotle is constantly introducing advertisements claiming to have the natural ingredients while slandering the name of farmers everywhere. Perhaps the most well-known is “The Scarecrow,” a three minute ad that features some of the most haunting images Chipotle has ever featured. While “The Scarecrow” uses tear-inducing images and the almost eerie music to entice the audience to the company’s “free-range farming” ideals, it lacks substantial logos yet, it still
Many in the U.S., today, try to eat well,balanced, meals to order to maintain a healthy lifestyle. They do so by purchasing their food at farmers markets or making their own meals, so their food isn’t processed or genetically modified. Even though people are trying to maintain health in order to live long lives, without medical complications, many don’t have the opportunity to pursue life like this. In “Research shows food deserts more abundant in minority neighborhoods,” the author, Kelly Brooks, portrays an anecdote and logical reasoning, from Kelly Bower’s research, to thoroughly describe the food deserts in poor minority neighborhoods and how this issue needs to be repaired.
In Dave Barry's essay "Lost in the Kitchen" Barry shares his view on sexual equality through his own experience with his family on Thanksgiving. So Barry wants to share his view on this with the men in the world that he believes are losing their role as the top gender that has more responsibilities. Jarrett J. Krosoczka spoke at a Ted talk in July of 2014 about why lunch ladies are heroes. He is a children’s book author and he created the Lunch Lady graphic novel series in honor of his old lunch lady, Jeannie. From the series, he has been able to bring awareness towards the lunch ladies and how important they are. Every school has a lunch staff that feeds all of the students every day and they rarely get a thanks for all their work. Thanks to Krosoczka there is now a day dedicated to celebrating the lunch staff’s hard work and they are very thankful. In his speech he argues the importance of appreciating the lunch staff’s hard work by using pathos and a sincere and inspirational tone.

In Tan’s article, Mothers Tongue, she writes about her experiences with her mother's inability to speak English. “Why Lunch Ladies are Heroes” was presented by Jarrett J. Krosoczka at a Technology, Entertainment and Design Conference on July of 2014. His purpose was to teach an educated audience about the importance of being compassionate and how showing a little appreciation can change someone's life. Krosoczka’s hope was that people would not wait until a certain day to say thank you or show appreciation to others. While advertising his Lunch Lady graphic novel series and School Lunch Hero Day he still manages to center his whole presentation about how one should frequently thank others. Krosoczka shows the audience how just one thank you can make the day of the one receiving the thanks by using emotional appeal through various tones and speeds in his voice.

Starbucks is a company in which purchases and roasts high quality whole bean coffees and sells them along with fresh, rich-brewed, Italian style espresso beverages, a variety of pastries and confections, and coffee-related accessories and equipment (starbucks.com). During my environmental scan in which took place at the Starbucks on the corner of Fair and Newport across the street from vanguard, I noticed many things in which where never brought to my attention in prior stays and visits at Starbucks; such as the many social groups in which choose to have their meetings at Starbucks. Thus in this essay we will discuss things in which many people do not really notice when going to Starbucks.
The coffee shop I decided to do my observation was the well known Starbucks just a couple blocks away. The reason I chose this coffee shop was because of it 's style inside, it attracted me. For example, one side of the wall has a glass top, and the lower part of the wall, made of wood and painted in a bright red color, which was one thing that attracted me and stood out. Outside of the shop people can actually see through the glass wall and get to see what’s happening inside of the coffeeshop. By the entrance you see these two red ceiling lamps which were shaped in a flower bud and these two tall green plants. Once you were in, on the right of the shop there was a counter with food and things to put in your drinks such as milk, sugar, chocolate, etc and the colors and how the food was displayed and served was appealing to my eyes. Behind that counter there was a long table with different electronic devices plugged into the wall. On the middle of the those there is a fridge just for ice and when I turned to the other side and I noticed a big menu on the wall. Further more into the shop, there was an area filled with tables, chairs, and sofas. The tables were in different shapes, one was round and the others rectangular, also there was four bamboo baskets and I looked around and noticed that the walls in that area were decorated with paintings.
