“We have a social responsibility, a constitutional opportunity and a moral obligation to help others” - Janie Lewis (EnkiQuotes, 2017).
As the quote suggests, it is our law-abiding obligation to take care of the society by helping each other in tough situations and make the world a better place to live. Social Responsibility is a foremost responsibility in which all individuals are responsible for consummating their ethical duties which would benefit the society and make a balance between the social welfare of the environment and economic growth (Anon, 2017). In October 2011, A new policy was published on corporate social responsibility by the European Commission which is in relevance to our responsibility towards our environment as the responsibility

And as said, a student’s life is just not about scoring good grades and finding a job, there are more things which has to come to their attention. The universities should continue to open new doors for the students to learn the importance of social responsibility so that they can remove the social barriers that are running on the basis of racial division and discrimination. There are still so many unethical activities going on in the community and someone has to take a step forward to stop it and the only power who can stop the destruction, is a student because a student is a pillar of tomorrow who has been taught so much about his responsibility towards the society and it is his chance now to implement his knowledge and bring a change to this community which would eradicate all the unprincipled activities and that is how we can make a change to this world and finally the students would be able to adapt to the famous quote of Mahatma Gandhi “Be the Change that you wish to see in the …show more content…

Social responsibility requires managers to make decisions that positively influence the well-being of, not only their stakeholders, but the community as well (Jones, George, & Haddad, 2016, p. 111). Tentree has taken a proactive approach to the implementation of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative. A proactive approach is demonstrated by a company’s eagerness to do more than the law requires for social responsibility (Jones, et al., 2016, p. 113). The basic social responsibility for a business is to use resources to increase profits without deception or fraud (Jones, et al., 2016, p. 112). Tentree goes beyond this basic social responsibility by being committed to environmental stewardship, sustainability and social responsibility
What is social responsibility? Social responsibility is an obligation to act in a way that benefits society at large, people can do this through working to help improve Earth’s sustainability through processes such as recycling, composting, and being polite to others. Thanking a police officer or veterans for their service, or confronting consequences and accepting them are just a few examples of social responsibility. Sadly, the vast majority of individuals are not socially responsible. We are often fueled by fear, and the fear of losing power is so devastating that we make irrational and socially irresponsible decisions. Then, when those individuals work in a business or group themselves into corporations, those corporations are not socially responsible either. I have made the following promises to myself about my individual and social responsibility: Be economically responsible, be socially friendly and be a good influence on others.
“There is only one and only one social responsibility of business- to use its resources and engage in activities designated to increase its profits so long as it decides to stays within the rules of the game, which is to say, engages in open and free competition without deception or fraud.”

So before we go in greater detail on the different perspectives related to social responsibility, one might question the meaning of social responsibility. It is generally agreed that social responsibility is defined as the business obligation to make decisions that benefit societ...

Every business has a social responsibility toward society. That means to maximize positive affects and minimize negative affects on the society. Social responsibilities includes economic-to produce goods and services, that society needs at the price, that satisfy both-business and consumers, legal responsibility-laws that business must obey, ethical responsibilities-behaviors and activities that are expected of business by society, but are not codified in the law, philanthropic responsibilities-represent the company’s desire to give back to society (charietys, volunteering, sponsoring).
I begin this essay by defining CSR, there are many definitions for this term by various different theorists, and EU says that CSR is "A concept whereby companies integrate social and environmental concerns in their business operations and in their interaction with their stakeholders on a voluntary basis." On the other hand, Sloman et al. define it as "The concept in which a firm takes into account is the interests and concerns of a community rather than just its shareholder". Davis and Blomstrom (1966), say it "Refers to a person’s obligation to consider the effects of his decisions and actions on the whole social system". These definitions differ from one another in many ways but they agree that CSR involves taking the environment into account and therefore, one must look take social responsibility.

While the concept of an individual having responsibility is commonly recognized, modern views have lead to the emerging issue of corporate responsibility. Business Directory.com defines corporate social responsibility as, “A company’s sense of responsibility towards the community and environment (both ecological and social) in which it operates. Companies express this citizenship (1) through their waste and pollution reduction processes, (2) by contributing educational and social programs, and (3) by earning adequate returns on the employed resources.” But such a concept has been much disputed since at least the 1970’s.
However, there can be more definitions about what Corporate Social Responsibility can be. For example, Corporate Social Responsibility can be the commitment which is continuing for a business to behave ethically and bring to economy the development to improve the workforces’ of the whole society and local community and their families’ quality of life. Corporate Social Responsibility is also known as the obligation of a company to serve the society’s interest and of course its own. With the help of the Corporate and Social Responsibility, social and environmental concerns companies can integrate into their business and stakeholders operations.
