Some movies, no matter how bad they are, can be a blast to just sit back, relax and watch the craziness unfold. Women's Prison Massacre, also known as Emanuelle Escapes from Hell, is that type of movie, co-written by Claudio Fragasso, who you may know as the mastermind behind Troll 2 and the boring, convoluted mess known as Beyond Darkness. I can't think of one thing in this movie that is done well, be it the acting, the atrocious dubbing or the story. Well, actually, I take that back, as the randomly epic arm wrestling match and the generous helping of nudity are done fantastically well. PRODUCT INFORMATION MOVIE Women's Prison Massacre starts events off with a bang, as we witness a riveting play put on by three female prisoners, one of them being the lead character, Emanuelle (played by go to Black Emanuelle star Laura Gemser). One of the prisoners, the bad ass, blond hair wearing Albina doesn't like this play and we get a vegetable fight to end …show more content…
The dubbing in the movie does not in the least bit try to match up the mouths, the story is a jumbled mess of violence and sex (hey, I'm not complaining) and the acting is painful. The movie is a pure masterpiece of cheese and you owe it to yourself to witness this cinematic delight right away. BLU-RAY Scream Factory gives us Women's Prison Massacre in a bare bones release, with no features in sight. The video is a bit rough around the edges, but the audio is not too bad, which really highlights that terrible dubbing job. I'm thinking this movie would've been better off served up in a double feature with another Black Emanuelle movie, such as Violence in a Women's Prison, which looks to have the exact same plot as this movie and was also directed by Bruno Mattei. Both movies where shot back to back and would have gone great together, but alas, we get what we get. BLU-RAY SPECIAL FEATURES Nothing, but the joy of witnessing this movie on
Solitary confinement has the ability to shatter even the healthiest mind when subjected to indefinite lockdown, yet the mentally ill, who are disproportionately represented in the overall prison population, make up the majority of inmates who are held in that indefinite lockdown. Within your average supermax prison in which all inmates are subjected to an elevated form of solitary confinement, inmates face a 23-hour lockdown, little to no form of mental or physical stimulation that is topped off with no human interaction beyond the occasional guard to inmate contact. It is no wonder ‘torture’ is often used synonymously to describe solitary confinement. For years, cases arguing against solitary confinement have contested against its inhumane
For all the differences the film had from the novel, it was basically the same story just told in a more cheerful way and was more about the Joad family. However, the differences did not take away from the film; they might have made the film even better. No matter how different the film was from the novel, they both have succeeded in their own respective fields and remain classics to this
These movies allowed female characters to embody all the contradictions that could make them a woman. They were portrayed as the “femme fatale” and also “mother,” the “seductress” and at the same time the “saint,” (Newsom, 2011). Female characters were multi-faceted during this time and had much more complexity and interesting qualities than in the movies we watch today. Today, only 16% of protagonists in movies are female, and the portrayal of these women is one of sexualization and dependence rather than complexity (Newsom, 2011).
Auschwitz Concentration Camp “Get off the train!”. Hounds barking loud and the sound of scared people, thousands of people. The “Now!”. I am a shaman. All sorts of officers yelling from every angle.
By using dogs, the Nazi soldiers reinforced their ideas that Jewish women were sexual deviants and were part of a sub human race. To the victims, this kind of violence was especially degrading as the officers would laugh and taunt them while the dogs were biting them among other things. This is just another example of how women’s experiences of violence were gendered, in that, the sexual violence was specifically enacted against them in this way due to the Nazi rhetoric surrounding Jewish women and how acts of violence against them are meant to demean their femininity.
“Concentration camps (Konzentrationslager; abbreviated as KL or KZ) were an integral feature of the regime in Nazi Germany between 1933 and 1945. The term concentration camp refers to a camp in which people are detained or confined, usually under harsh conditions and without regard to legal norms of arrest and imprisonment that are acceptable in a constitutional democracy” (United States Holocaust Memorial Museum).
Women have always been treated inhumanely and disrespected from the beginning of time. Their rights are not of equal value as their male counterparts. Through the stories of these victims we get to see their suffering and how their inner strength was far stronger than their prosecutors.
I'm more than a little upset with myself that I allowed myself to go so long without watching this film. I've known about for what feels like forever, but for one reason or another I just never got around to watching it. Well, I can proudly say that's no longer an issue, time was made and Re-Animator was watched. Watching Re-Animator for the first time, reminded me of the first time I watched Return of the Living Dead. Both films have this vibrant atmosphere that I have a hard time putting into words. Both films share a lot in common, flawless use of humor, memorable scenes and some of the best practical effects shots that I can think of. But if I had to choose a favorite between the two, Return of the Living Dead would win out, mostly due
Sofia Coppola’s movie, The Virgin Suicides, 1999, brings to the forefront the reality of what life is like for five oppressed teenage girls living in suburbia in the mid-70’s. After examining numerous articles, a few of them made an impact on my perspective. The first of many articles is Todd Kennedy’s piece, Off with Hollywood’s Head: Sofia Coppola as Feminine Auteur. Kennedy discusses how Coppola has a tendency to lean toward directing films that cater toward females’ interest, either because of the visual imagery or women’s feelings of connectedness with the characters. The author reveals that The Virgin Suicides portrays women as becoming dominated by the environment surrounding them. The author gives an interesting point of view when he claims, “The film tells a story of the five Lisbon sisters whose identities exist only insofar as they are defined as the objects of the masculine desire” (44). Furthermore, the Kennedy asserts how the film serves as a prolonged exploration into the degree to which female characters are idealized, objectified, and defined by the image that the film- and their society- imposes upon them.

The sacrificial role of women is a prevalent theme throughout the novel Crime and Punishment, and the play A Streetcar Named Desire. These pieces of literature displayed women as characters who embodied the traits of self-sacrifice and suffering. However, their sacrificial deeds were performed for significantly different reasons, either for their family or for their own sake.
They witness a massacre and try to find a way out of the city before they are found and killed by the mob. The only job they can find is an all girl band so the two dress up as a woman. In addition to hiding, they both have their own. problems. Then there are the problems.
Women, by nature, tend to be much more social than men. Women also have a unique struggle when first going into prison. When women are put in prison, they have multiple things that need to be dealt with right away. At the PGRCC, many females first getting to prison are often intoxicated from alcohol, and or are high from narcotics. When they start to come off of their high, and the withdrawal sets in, so does reality. They start questioning what happened, how they got there, and (if applicable) where their children are? Their maternal instincts start to kick in. With this problem of the children, the Ministry of Child and Family Development (MCFD) gets involved. The ministry needs to talk to the woman in prison and try to find appropriate places
Did you know that ninety-seven percent of rapists will never spend a day in jail? (RAINN) This fact is depressing considering the large percentage of rape victims. Things like rape and violence have a severe impact on the mentality level of people. Their lives will change forever after going through an intense situation such as being molested, beaten, or anything along those lines. It has caused people to commit the same crime, become severely depressed and suicidal, as well as many other unfortunate events. People look down on those who have gone through such events, some may say things such as, "you probably deserved it”, “you were dressed provocatively" or "how did you not enjoy that?” As such, rape is an underexplored
Far more than men, women are exploited in media to indorse sales of goods and services to create desires and interests. The use of women’s body parts such as; breast, butt, lips, stomach are used in media to convey unrealistic messages about women. Media uses provocative images of women to sell and attract consumer to buy their goods. In the movie, Spring Breakers, the gang leader, Alien, bailed the girls out of the jail using his power and money for the purpose of them working for him in return. Alien knew that the girls were in a tough and vulnerable position, and the gang leader was aware that he was capable of getting the girls out of any trouble with the money and power he had. The girls have done one rebellious act and Alien knew they were willing to do more, if it meant that it would benefit him in any way. This shows how in the movie, the gang leader would be able to manipulate the girls to do anything he wants, because of the power that he had and was willing to share with the
