Hero is a word we hear often in sports, but heroism is not always about what happens on the field. "42" tells a story of the great Jackie Robinson (Chadwick Boseman) and legendary Brooklyn Dodgers general manager, Branch Rickey (Harrison Ford). Together they changed the world by changing the game of baseball. Oscar award candidate, Harrison Ford played Branch Rickey. As the GM, Rickey put himself at the edge of history when he signed Jackie Robinson to the team. They broke Major League Baseball's infamous colored player ban. Despite adversity, they were able to bring a lot of change in the diversity of sports and society.
As the movie was a great success, “42” grossed over twenty-five million dollars in its opening weekend and over 95 million dollars in total in just months after release.

The tribute to Jackie Robinson’s legacy was heartwarming and inspiring. Their storyline was nominated for a Golden Trailer for best drama and outline due to Rickey and Robinson both exhibiting tremendous amounts of courage and enduring prejudice from critics, players, and fans in the movie in their roles.
The successful movie was nominated for many awards. The movie received an Image Award for Outstanding Writing in a Motion Picture and won a Key Art Award for best audio and visual technique which was well deserved for it beautiful production. It also deserved to win the “Breakthrough Performance of the Year” award for its outstanding cinematography on its brilliant display of American life and 1900’s society. The display, visuals, and special effects bring the film to life and the emotional writing has engaged so many viewers to connect themselves to the movie.
