Brother Bear “Brother Bear” is the story of three brothers who lived a long time ago in a distant land which now is called North West America. The youngest of three brothers, Kenai, is about to receive a personal totem - a symbol that the Great Spirit gives to him as the guide of life. When Tanana, the shaman of the tribe gave to Kenai a bear, the symbol of love, the young man was very disappointed. He was thinking of something else, grander, such as an eagle, like his brother Sitka, or a wolf as his brother Denahi has. After a bear took the life of his oldest brother, Stika, Kenai was looking for revenge. He followed that bear and eventually, he killed him. As a result, he was turned into a bear, and in this way, he had the opportunity to learn important things of life, such as courage and kindness. Kenai is visited by the spirit of his dead brother, Stika, which is telling him that if he wants to turn back into a human, he must travel to a special place, where “the lights touch the Earth”, the Northern Lights. Hey, I didn’t see you there, how are you?I'm just wondering whether or not a big ol' grizzly bear is going to come charging at me at any point in my life, but seeing as grizzly bears are endangered that probably won't happen. In the past, there were thought to be around 50,000 grizzly bears in North America, nowadays they are growing sparse there are estimated to be only around 1800, now not even a 20th of the population in the past. Most of these grizzlies are located in Yellowstone National Park and Alaska, but they can also be found in Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho and Montana. Some are thought to be in Washington.
This poem, Sarajevo Bear written by Walter Pavlich, addresses one of the most important themes, the struggle to keep humanity strong and stable. To begin with, this poem is discussing the sniping campaign that took place in Sarajevo in 1993 and how civilians were the targets of these attacks. During this time people faced a dilemma: they could either stay in hiding forever or until the war ended, or they could do something that would get their mind off the war and relieve some of their stress. People knew though the risk of leaving the security and safety of their home as they could be shot and killed at any time without warning. But still this did not stop the people working at the zoo and feeding the bear to stop their job. Furthermore, the first verse of this poem states that this is the last animal at the zoo. This illustrates that just as many people were dying, many animals were dying as well illustrating that our actions not only affect us but they also affect things around us, and in this poem it was the zoo animals. In a zoo the animals are contained within a certain area an...
Dog has been “man’s best friend” for ages. Around Franklin County, almost everyone owns a dog. Since many owners are farmers, people in the Franklin County area need a dog who will be loyal, can herd livestock if need be, and is obedient to its master. The best breed of dog that fits this description is the Blue Heeler, also known as the Australian Cattle Dog. Though these dogs are better suited for the rural areas, many people in the city own them as well. Sprightly yet independent, the Australian Cattle Dogs are great companions for single people and families alike. Blue Heelers are the all-around best breed of dog in Franklin County.

Some Native Americans believed that they have close relations with grizzly bears. This can be seen by looking at the way they described the grizzly bears with human characteristics, which include walking on two feet and talking like people (24). During the story "When Grizzlies Walked Upright, everything is created by the Chief of the Sky Spirits (24). He created everything but humans. Humans were created by the Chief of the Sky Spirits daughter and a grizzly bear (25). Which resulted in the Chief of the Sky Spirits getting angry with the grizzlies. He then punished the grizzlies by taking the ability to talk from them and he forced them to walk on all fours (26). Since the native Americans believed they are descendants of the grizzly bear. The Native Americans show great respect for the grizzlies by never killing a grizzly (26). Also when a Native American was killed by one they were buried on spot and for many years the Native Americans who passed by threw stones into a pile to mark the spot (26).
