1. INTRODUCTION

1.1. Definition

A Beauty Therapists job is to apply face and body treatments and advice on skin care.

1.2. Description

A Beauty Therapist is someone whose job is to perform treatments to improve a person’s appearance and perform tasks such as facials, manicures, removal of unwanted hair, applying make-up, cleansing etc.

1.3. Aims

The aim of this report is to inform people about the career of a Beauty Therapist by telling them what it takes to become a beauty therapist, the prospects of this career, the salary and wages of a Beauty Therapist and the history of Beauty Therapy.

2. DISCUSSION

2.1. History

In a way beauty therapy has been around for a long time but not in the way we know today. In the past people would alter their physical appearance in the hope that they ‘perfect’ and ‘beatify’ their appearance. Some examples of what people used to do and in what culture it was performed are…

African tribes used to wear neck rings from the age of 3 and added a new ring every year on their birthday as an indicator of wealth and status. After a certain amount of time and depending on how many rings they have, if they were to take the rings off all at once their necks wouldn’t be strong enough to support their heads and it was possible for them to die from suffocation.
