Recommended: Importance of sacred scriptures
Religious tradition is generally informed by scripture and these religious traditions are considered to be sacred, and central to their religious tradition. In Islam, the scripture is considered to be the word of god and therefore attributed to the divine, whereas the Buddhist scripture is the actual words of the Buddha, and attributed to its human authors. Even though both religions’ scriptures have been either attributed to the divine or human authors, both Islam and Buddhism have used their religious scriptures to influence and regulate the lives of the religious people who follow their beliefs and religious tradition.
Islamic scripture, more specifically the Qur’an, which is the most sacred text in Islam, is said to be revelations from God (Allah). They were received by the prophet Muhammad, who is the greatest and final prophet of Islam (LaGrone, 3). Fisher describes the life of Muhammad, where as a young child grew up amidst poverty and as was a person who was always sympathetic to the poor and underprivileged. He is also described as a thoughtful and trustworthy character, and although Muhammad is not to be worshiped by Muslims, his life story is considered as an important model (Fisher, 379)
Muhammad grew up in Arabia and knew other monotheistic communities, namely, Jews and Christians he rejected the idol worship of the majority of Arabs (LaGrone, 3). Muhammad was known for making spiritual retreats, spending much time in solidarity and reflection, which provided him the opportunity for contemplation away from the world (Fisher, 380). It was during one of those spiritual retreats during Ramadan, when he was forty years old that he began having revelations, and it was the angel Gabriel who came to him ...

...e in them and are directions for practice what they are teaching in order to reach enlightenment. Buddhism has throughout its history adapted well in new surroundings and this has allowed this religion to flourish. As with Islam, this religion is practiced today all across the globe. There are daily rituals that all Muslims must follow according to the five pillars of the faith. The Quran in its original language has not changed since the scripture was originally written and it is just as important and valuable to those who follow this religion today as when it was first created. Both Islam and Buddhism are very involved religions. Their followers have a strong belief in the teachings, and stories provided in the scriptures. They are dedicated and committed to the words in the scriptures, and this can be seen in both through the daily practice of the religions.
Muhammad made it a habit to retreat to a cave in the surrounding mountains and visited to meditate and pray. In 610, at age 40 while he was there, he received a powerful message through the angel Gabriel, from God. He was given advice and guidance in many areas. Three years after this happened, Muhammad started preaching these messages publicly. What he was told is recorded in the Qur’an, which ...
All three also share a common bond of being monotheistic. Islam's belief system was centered around the importance of making the God happy by your behavior (Doc 2). By the end of your life, there would be a final judgement where the God would assess your behavior and you would hopefully be granted a peaceful afterlife. Buddhism, founded by Buddha, was a religion based on staying on the right path and doing what is right to achieve nirvana. In Buddhism, there were two paths that people should not follow and there was a middle path discovered by the Perfect One that people should follow in life (Doc 4).
Today both religions are still greatly worshiped and have millions of followers. Buddhism and Hinduism are connected in many ways and still continue to flourish after many, many centuries.
Both Buddhism and Hinduism are well known religions. They are two of the most popular polytheistic faiths in the world. Some people believe them to be sects of the same religion, but they are mistaken. Buddhism and Hinduism have some similarities, but many things set them apart from each other as well. They are each their own religion in many aspects.
Buddhism and Hinduism share vast similarities. One being both the practice of meditation. Hinduism has “no single founder” (Hinduism, Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia, 6th Edition), no central authority, and no widely known creed. However, Hinduism does have a caste system that they run on. Hindus believe that everyone has their place in the world and they cannot overstep their roles and responsibilities outlined in their caste. Hindus also follow the “Veda as the most sacred scriptures.”(Hinduism, Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia, 6th Edition). Due to this commonality it has helped Hindus and Buddhists come to recognize each other and remain cordial to one another. Which is pivotal since both religions are practiced so close to one another (at least geographically speaking). The “caste system” (Hinduism." Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia, 6th Edition...
In the seventh century, a new faith arose in the Middle East known as the Islamic religion. Just like Christianity and Judaism, the Islamic religion believed in one God known as Allah. The founder of Islam was a very unique individual known as Mohammad. Mohammad had an amazing spiritual experience that transformed his life and made a great impact in history. He experienced visions and revelations from Allah which he accepted as messages. Mohammed
...ive of the afterlife. Both religions have an ultimate goal that religious believes must follow in order to obtain a utopian world. Yet, to reach these goals, Christianity and Buddhism vary as they both explore different concepts that must be understood and achieved before reaching a utopian world.
In today’s world, there are various religions that are worshipped by millions of devout followers every year. Of these religions, two of these include Buddhism and Christianity, which have dated back for thousands of years. According to. Experiencing the World 's Religions and The World’s Wisdom: Sacred Texts of the World’s Religions, both Buddhism and Christianity originated through a single enlightened leader and were known as each religion’s teachers: Buddha and Jesus Christ. Both of these prophets became what shaped their respective religions and had a large influence on being bringers of hope to the world and proclaiming peace among the nations.
Centered around revelations of the Prophet Muhammad, Islam was founded thousands of years ago. According to Mary Fisher, author of Living Religions, followers of Islam are commonly referred to as Muslims (Fisher, 2008 p. 381). Very similar to the structures of both Christianity and Judaism, Islam is a monotheistic religion, where worshipers believe in a single God, commonly referred to as Allah, according to Mary Fisher (Fisher, 2008 p. 386). In fact, many Muslims recognize some of the prophets from Judaism and Christianity, such as Moses and Jesus, as messengers of God, according to Mary Fisher
Muslims believe that the absolute deity is Allah. However, they also believe that there was a string of prophets sent by God to teach his word. The last of these prophets was Muhammad. His life is used as a foundation for Muslims to see how they are supposed to live and to help explain the teachings of the holy book of Islam, which is called Holy Qur’an. These teachings are said to have been revelations that Muhammad received that confirmed the God’s unity and the direct life in the world.
Although we can see that the two beliefs of Christianity and Pure Land Buddhism have similar beliefs, we also can see that they do differ in some major areas. I think that it is obvious to see that the Nestorians who brought Christianity to China and Japan had an influence on the Buddhist people during the sixth and seventh century. The religions have their major differences but we can see that throughout the scriptures that the main Idea of unseen faith is the central idea to the religion. Some may say that they are two very different religions but I would differ saying they have very much in common.
The Qur’an is believe to the ultimate source of God by many Muslim believers. It contains 114 suras for the believers as the core practices of the Islamic religion and Muslims throughout the world recites its verses (Chang, Lecture. 1/21/14). They believed the prophet of Allah was Muhammad, who received the words of Allah through Angel Gabriel, and was passed on with the Qur’an during Ramadan. Angel Gabriel one night came to Muhammad “in clear human form” (“Scripture and Tradition in Islam- The Qur’an and Hadith” 104), and gave the messages from Allah to him. From the establishment of the Qur’an, Muslims have viewed the book as the last revelation of their god Allah, and thus are the true words from God for their ways of life and in reaching Allah in their afterlife. The book also teaches “mankind’s responsibility assigned by God” (Gordon 115). Therefore, Muslims practices in ways to prove their devotion towards the new religion of Islam by being faithful, and performing religious practices.
...mmad, Apostle of Allah wrote with the purpose of leading others to the Islamic religion. This is shown in the positive manner that Muhammad is spoken of. The story of Allah sending an angel to speak to Muhammad puts this great man on a very high pedestal, which encourages others to follow him. The prophet Muhammad was a very influential leader of the Islamic religion.

The word Muhammad is known as the praised one. His mother heard an angelic voice while she was pregnant and he was born covered in light. He was born to Hashim clan of Quraysh tribe in 570 CE. (Fisher 176) Muhammad was visited by two angles at the stage of infancy and they removed sin from his heart by using a pure white snow. He have a birthmark in his back which is surrounded by hair and Jews identified this as the mark of godliness. Muhammad’s father died before he was born. His father was doing a trading journey and after his father’s death his family fell on hard times.
