At an early age, I can remember attending church and learning about our God. It took some time to identify with what I truly believed about church, God, and ultimate reality, but overtime I realized what it was that I believed to be the truth. When a person believes in something that means they have faith in that belief whether it was learned from someone else or from themselves. Sometimes beliefs can change from what others may tell you. It is always good for a person to dive deep into their own beliefs and learn about them as much as possible. A few of my core beliefs are that there is only one God that created the heavens and Earth, and He sent his son Jesus Christ to live among the humans, and then later be crucified on the Cross to forgive …show more content…
All of this is quite mysterious; it is something we have to go on by our faith. I know this by reading the Bible, and attending a church that explains The Creation so well. First, I believe that God is the creator of everything in the universe. How else could something so big and vast been created any other way? He knew exactly what to put on the Earth for everything to live and survive the way they do. There really is no other explanation for it. He then needed for the people on this Earth to know how he wanted them to live. He then created his son Jesus Christ from his liking to be the one to spread His …show more content…
He later would be crucified on the Cross. This was all part of the plan to show the people that if they truly believe in Him, that He will save them from their sins. This is all sometimes very hard to understand. How would Jesus dying on the Cross have anything to do with forgiving us of our sins? I believe he took the pain of all of our sins from past to present, and paid the consequence for them. I know I am a sinner and that if I repent my sins, God shows will show mercy and grace to me and also to those who believe. I believe that when Jesus died on the Cross, that three days later He arose from the grave and went to Heaven. This was another plan of God’s to show this to His followers. I believe He wants everyone to have that right to accept Him as their Lord and Savior. To believe in the resurrection that Jesus died a painful death, to then show that whoever believes in Him will be transformed in their body and soul to one day live with Jesus in
As ancient Rome began to fall, Christianity began rising. Around 2,000 years ago, Jesus of Nazareth was born, later to be known as the Messiah or Son of God. When people of the Roman era began to hear of such a powerful being, they began to convert to Christianity. Why did Christianity take hold on the ancient world; Christianity took hold on the ancient world because it offered immortality, equality, and it was spread like wildfire.
In Genesis, god created merely by speaking. It was god who created the heavens and earth also known as cosmos. Water was already pre-existent matter; everything else was created by god. It all began when god spoke in the darkness and said let there be light and there was light. God saw that the light was good. During the day there would be light, and the darkness would be at night. By the second and third day, god created a firmament (dome) which separated the waters from the waters. God called the firmament heaven and said that all the waters under heaven should be gathered as one allowing for dry land to appear. This created one place for the water and another place for dry land. It was the dry land that beca...
Intro An account of creation is found in the book of Genesis. Chapters one through eleven tell of how and when God created the Earth, the Heavens, all forms of life, and everything else in the Universe. Genesis also tells the stories of Adam and Eve as well as all of their descendants. Genesis is part of the living Word of God, providing details of the character of God, the principles of man, and man’s relation to God.
Every religion embodies a plethora of recognized rituals that are significant to its teachings. Customs exclusive to each religion can include acts such as: attending a weekly mass, praying five times a day at specified hours, celebrating the transition from childhood to manhood, along with endless others. The similarity shared amongst all religious rituals is that the follower of faith must believe whole-heartedly in what he/she is doing or saying. Dhikr, or the remembrance of God, is a ritual based in Islam that does not receive the attention it deserves from mainstream Muslims, and is highly under appreciated for its value (Robson 238). Its myriad versions allow it to be very personal, whereas other rituals are more structured, which is
Christian faith and Ethos is the class I am taking this term. The professor 's name is Reverend Leroy Leach Jr. The class is about God, the creation, and how to read the Holy Bible.
This religious study will define the social stratification of Roman Catholic policies in colonial Mexico. Religion has always played a major role in the country and this is no less true of its colonial period. Historically, Catholicism was seen as a civilizing force that contended with the indigenous religions of the indigenous population, as well as with religions imported by other, non-European newcomers. This aspect of syncretic religious values was part of the overarching authority of the Roman Catholic to stratify citizens based on racial and social values within the context of colonial governmental policies. The restric6ttions to class mobility were primarily based on racial and ideology religious values, which were controlled and regulated through the Spanish Inquisition during the colonial era. Also, an examination of the Cult of Mary will define the various forms of syncretic beliefs that were an extension of witchcraft and Aztec belief system amongst the indigenous population. In essence, this study aims to examine to what extent religion expressed the societal standing of members of colonial society, which created a stratification of society under the authority of the Roman Catholic Church in
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1 New American Standard Bible. It’s understood in Genesis 2:7 (New American Standard Bible) that life in fact was created by God. God created man from dust on the ground, breathed it, and man became a living creature. God created humans to be able to reproduce to create more life.
There are two possibilities ether the universe is came by chance or someone ordered in the unique ways. On the religious views, God is the ruler of the universe which is mentioned on the Bible because he crated the earth and heaven at the same time and after he provided the light which is the sun, moon, and stars. The earth was out of shape and void, and the space was only wide and deep darkness. In reality, the law of nature depends on the God's willpower. When the rule of universe comes to the philosophers, people
"Sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death." (James 1:15), or as Paul puts it in Romans 6:23 " the wages of sin is death". Christ never sinned, and therefore did not earn the wages of sin. Therefore God raised him from the dead "having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it." (Acts 2:24). The full story of Christ's death and resurrection can be found in Matthew 27 & 28, Mark 15 & 16, Luke 23 & 24, and John 18 - 21.
What is Christianity and why has it been able to develop into a continuously growing and evolving religion?
Every day God created something new and blesses it. God created nothing irrelevant or unworthy. Entirely everything he created served a purpose. Also all he had created came from nothing. The fish were undeniably produced out of the waters, and the beasts and man out of the earth; but that earth and those waters were made out of nothing. God created what is known as the world today and everything that exists on the earth. Reading Genesis 1 gives all mankind an idea of how life started and how the earth was formed to be this magnificent place. The earth is very complicated yet God could solve all of the problems and create blessings. He gave us light and darkness, day and night, water and land. He created all living creature including mankind.
The religions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are alike in many ways but they also share many differences. Judaism and Christianity use the bible in their holy scriptures, while Islam does not. Jesus Christ is a part of all three religions as Christianity and Islam developed from Judaism. Many believe that the three religions worship, pray to, and focus on the same god. They believe this as many of the prophets are they share much in common as they share many beliefs. However, the followers of the three religions pray differently and in different places. the religions believe that their god created the world and everything in the world. The three Abrahamic religions have different histories, yet they share many similarities and difference.
I am fortunate to have realized my faith in god in early years of my life and experiences in life have only strengthened my faith; I was born and raised in a small town in India and my elementary to undergraduate education has been from a Christian, catholic school, Convent of Jesus & Mary, a congregation established by Mother Claudine Thevnet who wanted to undertake the education of girls in India. It was in school, I first experienced the introduction to Christianity and my family being Hindu resonated a lot of common values being taught at school. Since there was no conflict in my values learnt at school and those at home, these were only deepened and have become an important part of my personality. As a result of my upbringing and my education, memories of my faith are amongst my earliest. I believe in the presence of god and I believe that god has bigger plans for me. My education and my family has integrated values in me for respecting, accepting, understanding other members of the society. Hinduism taught me how to be respectful and tolerant to others, it taught me that I need to understand that I am a human and I am here to serve and help others in need. There have been times when faced with difficult challenges in life and I have followed the path laid by god, ignorance went away and I found solutions and answers to the problems and challenges that I faced.
I believe Jesus died for our sins. Christianity to me is more of a relationship with God rather than just a religious practice. The bible to me is God last words and teachings in a matter of faith and practice.
