Effective communication is a key concept for any professional working or interacting with the general public. Communication in any profession can impact the successfulness of both workplace and client relationships. To gain a better understanding of the concept of effective communication, I conducted an interviewed with a client services officer from the police service. The following essay will discuss and reflect on the context of that interview, and draw conclusions on how I can better my communication skills for my future career as a Nutritionist.

As a nutritionist rapport building is extremely important, as patients would be providing me with information that they could consider quite personal or confidential. In interpersonal communication there are many theories that are similar yet different in many ways. The theories can be combined to describe people and how those people interact and communicate with each other. The dietitian will use food and nutrition to try and cure the diseases. Often it will help a tremendous amount. The dietitian will work with alternative and herbal remedies to help prevent and treat different diseases. The dietitian’s goal is to cure different conditions with the use of food and herbal remedies, rather than prescription pills and harmful chemicals that could in the long run, harm the body even more. Dietitians that work with these patients have to be calm during their practices, “these specialties involve high-pressure work environments and long hours that demand leadership, assertiveness, and career commitment from the dietetic professional” (28). They will also create a personal relationship with their patient in order to make the patient more comfortable and open up to them because in most cases, the patient is coming to the dietitian for weight problems. If they are overweight or underweight, the dietitian will try to help them become comfortable in their own body before they make any drastic changes. It makes the process easier. It can also make the process easier by creating a relationship with their patients. If the patient thinks of the dietitian as their friend, they will most likely think of it as just conversing rather than confessing. In conclusion communication plays an important role in people’s personal and professional lives. As much as 70 percent of work time is spent communicating with others. Several barriers to communication exist (Wallace & Roberson, 2009, Chapter 4). They range from emotional feelings to physical obstacles that prevent the free flow of information. Effective listening and feedback is a technique that anyone can learn. Anyone tasked with the job of communicating would need to keep in mind the goal of any communication, specifically, to deliver accurate information. By following the simple strategies of communication, anyone can eliminate the frustration of poor communication.
Interpersonal communication is one of the significant skills while communicating with other individuals. It normally covers an extensive area and includes both verbal and non-verbal communication. Now the communication class is almost over I have realize how important is to have good communication skills, and how it is key to life. I have learned many things in this class for example ways to approach strangers. Another thing that I have learned how to handle conflict and how sometimes it could be good it not always bad and many others. The way I look things have change to have reach my goals. This class was has also taught me how to look in the “other” perceptive, and not being selfish by just seeing one side.
