One reason Kealing Magnet Program would be a good fit for me is because I am a hard-working student who wants to get ahead and learn a lot. Another reason is because I want a challenging school, and Kealing Magnet is challenging, but also very helpful. I define a challenging school as a school with a lot of work. I want to apply to the McCallum Fine Arts Program for high school, and going to Kealing would give me knowledge and support in that. Being at Kealing would be a fun and accommodating opportunity, while also educating me. I want to both enjoy school and learn things, and Kealing would satisfy that for me. Not only did we help students with their work, we also organized school fundraisers and organized things around our school. This is one thing that I would do again if there was something similar at Kealing. There are several reasons why I would like to attend the Woodbridge Academy. Academically, a spectacular learning environment makes a superb school. Some examples of a great learning environment are class sizes being smaller, there is amazing collaboration between the students and faculty, and the school counselors will always be determined and will lead the student in the right direction. Why would students want to attend a magnet school? The reason may be because magnet schools offer a variety of specialized programs that students can choose from. Programs such as visual and performing arts, mathematics, sciences, and many others are available for students to choose from. Similar to having a major in college, students at magnet schools have their own specialized area that they can take classes in, in addition to basic academic classes. They are encouraged to be creative and to hone their skills in their area of interest.
The Magnet Recognition Program was initially developed to attract and maintain nursing staff. According to American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) web site, the program “was developed by the ANCC to recognize health care organizations that provide nursing excellence. The program also provides a vehicle for disseminating successful nursing practices and strategies.” Nursing administration continues to have an integral role associated with the demonstration of excellence in achieving the highest honor of nursing distinction. I define a hard worker as someone who is willing to struggle and work hard, despite the fact that nobody will notice. One of the best parts was seeing the creativity and ingenuity of all the children, while they took part in this program. One girl was really shy, but she had a lot of really imaginative ideas and when it came time to present she had a lot to say about her project. Now it has been four years since we did this camp, and I have seen her at church and seen her grow as a person. I spent most of my time in a first grade classroom. In this classroom I observed the children as well as the teacher and paraprofessional. This classroom had children with special needs and that is why there was a paraprofessional in the classroom for half the day. What I observed in this classroom was how children with special need should be handle and taught. The teachers in this room loves her job and each student in her class. While in the classroom the teacher allowed me to help with children with their work, read to them and help them with anything else that they needed. During this field experience I got to give back to not only a school, but to a community that is very near and dear to my heart.
