According to Google, perspective is an attitude toward, or way of regarding something. This definition means that perspective is all about how you look at something. When I think about perspective, it means your point of view. For example, you can have a perspective drawing, or a perspective on life, but you are not limited to just those two. Also, perspectives can change. They can change in as little as a day or over a certain period. A perspective as a child is tremendously different than a perspective of an adult. As a mother you must try to protect your child while giving them the best life that you can. Some people pick up on it rather quick, whether it be because someone has told them they’re disgusting, or they see it through their own eyes. Then there are those people that will never notice their filth, and unfortunately not everyone learns to clean up after themselves. Living on campus at Spartanburg Methodist with three other girls my age has made me realize that not everyone was taught to clean up after themselves the way my mother taught me. The first incident that led me to this conclusion was on a weeknight, after a long hard day of workouts, class, and practice I was sitting in the bathroom, I look down to my right—there was no toilet paper. What kind of person doesn’t put toilet paper back on the roll after they use it all?! As if being stranded in the bathroom wasn’t enough I walked out into the living room and a stench of onion almost knocks me down. I look around and someone left their sub wrapper on the living room table. When confronted about leaving a mess in the room each person claimed to understand how it’s not acceptable to leave their stuff thrown throughout the dorm, yet it continued to happen. As I have grown up I now realize that every time my mother would yell at me for leaving food out, not changing the toilet paper roll, leaving a wet towel on my bed, etc., she was preparing me for life on my own. My mother was teaching me how to pick up after myself because one day she wouldn’t be there to wash my laundry or tell me what time to go to bed. In high school I worked at Jimmy Johns and have had to clean up after customers that have defecated on the floor next to the toilet. At the Men’s Wearhouse in Sioux Falls where my fiancée works, people have rented suits and returned them after defecating inside the suit. At the Kmart that my stepdad worked at for twenty years, elderly customers have not been able to make it to the bathroom on time and leave a streak down the aisles to the restroom. At the Starmark in Sioux Falls where my father was employed for many years, employees defecated in the corner of the factory bathroom. My father also worked on many construction sites around Sioux Falls where other workers would urinate in a bottle, place the bottle in the wall, and build around it. My father also worked on an apartment complex renovation where the tenants of the building defecated on the newly-carpeted hallways and proceeded to smear it on the freshly-painted walls. These stories provide some insight on the public defecation phenomenon in that it is not localized to one specific area or just large populated
I agree with his assessment about society’s throw away mentality due to the fact that I have seen it myself first hand. Recently I helped my sister move out of her dorm room at NAU and I was horrified to see all the things and edible food she was just dumping and what was worse, she wasn’t the only one. All of the kids were getting rid of perfectly good items in the dumpster, so it’s no wonder that dumpsters near college campuses are one of Eighner’s favorite places to scavenge. In his article on page 3, Eighner elaborates on student’s wasteful habits, “but in the case of discards from student apartments, the answer may be that the item was discarded through carelessness, ignorance or wastefulness.” I believe agree with Eighner that some people have a pack rat mentality while others just throw it away. My parents are a good example of this and I think it has something to do with the way that they were raised. My mom is a pack rat, holding on to everything as long as possible and giving away to charity what she doesn’t want anymore. She squeezes every last drop out of a toothpaste tube or a shampoo bottle, while my dad will throw it away half empty. My mom was raised in a single parent household, where money was tight and you used what you had… my dad however, was raised in a more affluent home and money flowed more freely. In fact, my mom does her own dumpster diving fairly regularly in our garbage can by rescuing stuff out of the garbage that my dad has thrown away, including belts, pants, shirts and hardly worn tennis shoes. She doesn’t keep the goods, but instead gives it to Goodwill or the church clothing drive. My dad is her antithesis and is definitely part of the throw-away society. Understanding other people’s perspective is vital when it comes to making someone a more informed and a more sympathetic person. For example, in politics, there are two main sides; the democrats and the republicans. These two sides almost never see eye to eye, but when they see from the other’s point of view, an agreement can be made.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that every teen should be able to decide when they want to do chores and what chores we want to do that day. In order to do so, parents/guardians should take this into consideration and allow the teens to do as they wish. It is the right of the teens to abolish the control the parents have over chores and establish their independence. We have to pick up messes that are not ours and if it isn’t cleaned up we are the ones getting in trouble. On the 1st of November 2013, I performed my first simulation on the module, Foundation Skills for Nursing. This simulation was on checking for vital signs in patients particularly, measuring the blood pressure (BP) which is the force of blood vessels against the walls of the vessels (Marieb and Hoehn, 2010). We also measured the temperature, pulse and respiratory (TPR) rates of a patient. This simulation’s objective was to engage us in practising some basic observation techniques taken on patients in and out of hospitals and to familiarise us on some of the tasks we will be performing when in practise. I will be applying the “What”, “So what”, and “Now what” model of reflection in nursing by Driscoll (2000).
I am currently an English 160 student who is hoping to move on to the next course, which is English 161. I understand the requirements for English 161. It require students to explore a topic in some depth and conduct independent research related to that topic. Conducting research allows students to learn what it is like to participate in academic culture, posing questions about important issues and developing an argument in response to what others have said. It expected students to learn the most valuable skill in college, which is critical thinking. Students have to be able to read challenging readings. Although I still have problems with English, I think I’m qualified to move on.
During the course of the quarter, I feel that I have progressed somewhat. I've gained a lot of knowledge on rhetorical strategies and how to present arguments effectively. In the writings I have written, I feel that each writing works towards meeting the course goals. Logos, ethos, and pathos were strategies and ideas we were introduced to (if not already in the past) and were built upon throughout the quarter. The knowledge gained over the course of the quarter weren't only those three types of appeals. Rhetorical strategies like proposals helped reinforce the course and using rhetorical analysis in different situations have become easier throughout the quarter. I believe that I have made sufficient progress towards becoming a better writer this way.
Up until this year, before taking the class intermediate composition, I thought I was a terrible writer. I was right. Writing isn’t something that I enjoy doing, nor am I good at. Writing is difficult for me because I’m not very good at explaining things in a professional manner, that can be easily well written. While writing you are expected to make little to no mistakes, which is not something I’m great at. I am so much better at explaining things with verbal words rather than written words. Still her accusations are false when in fact sloppy people like Christine don’t pay attention to every object when cleaning and spend time organizing certain objects together. In reality on the rare occasion Christine actually cleans she doesn’t spend time organizing her things, as long as the mess is out of sight she is done cleaning. For example she tends to pile her clothes and shoes with other random objects that are left laying on her floor or desk in her closet and finishes with closing the door so the mess isn’t noticeable when walking into her room. Can you imagine having to hold it for hours because you don't have a toilet with water and a door to give you privacy? The problem with this is that not only invades your privacy but also carries bacteria's, germs and diseases that can be easily spread without things like a toilet, toilet paper, water, and soap. Fifty communicable diseases like to travel in human shit, which is basically our disposable system or trash can. An example of this is a baby called Marie Saylee, she was nine months old and died in three days from diarrhea. How did she get that terrible disease, probably from someone who did not wash their hands because there wasn't any water and touch the baby?
