I am currently in Oahu and letting you know that Hawaii has changed ever since you left. Hopefully North America is great right now and you're having a wonderful time. A year after you left to go to North America, missionaries came to Hawaii. A lot of Hawaiians here have changed to Christianity, but I on the other hand, don’t know which side to follow. I am still deciding whether to change my religion and beliefs or keep what I have from the years I’ve spent being Hawaiian. The weather outside is grey, not to mention it is very humid here. It disappointed me hearing that as time goes by, many of my cousins and friends have converted into Christianity. I was furious when I first heard this and I still do, but it's not that severe now. Since they are staying here, more and more Hawaiians are converting to Christianity because people read the bible and they introduced churches so people go to there. Before missionaries came, the Hawaiians followed the kapu system and the kahuna’s and they also went to heiau’s. Now it has been destroyed by the missionaries and it makes my heart break. It is very depressing that it happened and Hawaii has turned into something else.
Missionaries had a job of being a teacher so they could teach children English and how to read. Mainly the bible was what the teachers taught children but I hated it because it's hard to believe what they're saying. When I go to school, they teach us English and Christianity beliefs but it's hard for me to understand what they are telling me and my classmates. Before the missionaries were teachers, the children did not know how to read so they didn’t know Christianity beliefs. Now that there's teachers, children learn how to read the bible and learn
