In my opinion, over the years, my current writing skills have improved. Beforehand, I used to have difficulties understanding the proper format of sentences and had dragged sentences on. However, my current writing skills are becoming more developed. The composition of my writing has become more concise, clear, and understandable. Furthermore, some of the dominant skills my writing demonstrates is; avoiding slang, jargon, and transitions. With each of these skills in mechanical writing, my papers have become more advanced, more concise, and able to follow the primary goal. So, from these writing mechanics, my personal writing has matured. This allows my personal writing to evolve further. Nevertheless, my current writing skills have improved by becoming more concise, clear and understandable. On the other hand, even though my writing skills have developed, there are some areas of improvement. From historical events, my writing skills have …show more content…
differed in multiple ways. This causes a disadvantage in varies of writing areas. The skill I need to improve on the most is grammar. Although I am able to prepare, achieve, and conclude ideas, my grammar is the main cause of losing marks. I have had more difficulties with punctuation and sentence structures. This allows me to not develop or grasp the skills needed. Also, another area of a writing skill I struggle with is avoiding cliché. After a while, my papers become more detailed with not needed information. Although, after proofreading, I pick most of the cliché, there are times where I don't realize it there. Evidently making parts of my papers more cluttered. Nevertheless from these historical facts, my learning goals for this class is to develop better grammar skills and avoid cliché. Overall, after analyzing my writing skills versus weaknesses, it is obvious that I need to achieve my learning goals.
This learning goal is to develop a better grasp on my grammar skills and to avoid cliché. Therefore to achieve these goals, I must work on understanding the rules of grammar and also practicing writing on my personal time. To make this goal even more reachable, I have to learn how to understand the rules of grammar, how to apply them, and to stay onto the main point. I also will be contacting the instructor and/or the teaching assistants when in need of help. By putting these goals into place, it allows myself to demonstrate my work abilities and forces myself to adapt to a new and better writing style. Furthermore by trying to accomplish these goals, it allows me to develop my writing skills into a more professional and academic way. Nevertheless, although my writing skills have matured, I still need to accomplish the learning goals of grammar and avoiding cliché to demonstrate my writing to the
fullest.
My development as a writer has flourished throughout this semester. The first week of this fall semester started out with writing responses from our readings in the textbook. Looking back through and analyzing my reading responses at the semester to now; I noticed a substantial improvement in not only my grammar skills, but also my summarizing, and in-depth studying of writing adeptness. Another way I have progressed this semester is the vocabulary of my writing has significantly improved and become more scholarly. Another advancement I noticed was that the content of my work has matured, along with my organizational adeptness.
...lized that there were many mistakes that I needed to fix in order to perfect my writing. I need to consider more about focusing on the topic and organizing for my writing, because it appeals to the audience more clear to the point. Also, I feel that I am much better to convince my audience through my writings.
Over my career of schooling my writing has changed dramatically at times and very little at others. Through my years of schooling people have determined my main weaknesses and strengths that I should work on with my writing. My biggest weakness is writing introductions and conclusions they must be so complicated and require so much thought to be defined as good. I excel at writing body paragraphs and explaining all the facts that back up your main ideas though.
As mentioned in the first paragraph, I believe that I have improved my writing skills based on interpretation of writer’s pieces.
Over the past year I have grown as both a person and a writer. My writing has improved
Regardless of all of these improvements, I know my writing is still far from perfect. My arguments still lack the emotional appeal that, if present, would make my audience consider my arguments a lot faster. My analysis still lack development because often times I just state what happens instead of explaining why. In general, I need to work on controlling my voice and tone throughout an entire essay, which can be fixed if I choose my words more carefully to make sure my diction is uniform. Despite all of this, I am satisfied with myself, I am satisfied with the ways my writing has changed, with the way my writing skills have grown. Why? Because I am learning, and I know that I will continue improving as long as I take chances.
English 102 has taught me a lot about my writing. Becoming a better writer and pushing myself to the next level was my goal for this semester. Therefore, I learned how to use research to back up my arguments. We wrote many different essays based on different types of literature, which is something I had not done before. Initially, I had a few problems, but learned from those mistakes to become better at writing. I definitely have things that I need to work on in the future. However, looking back on my semester I have overcome many of my writing obstacles and have become a better writer.

Throughout my college career I noticed how different my form of writing has become. When I came to this realization, it made me wonder why this is so. Is it that I am simply just writing a lot more than I have in the past? Is it because I am simply maturing as a writer and combining all the techniques I am picking up on my own? All these questions, along with many more, rambled around my head sounding like a resounding gong struggling to find a true conclusion. As the school year went on I came to find out the truth about why my writing has changed, which brought me to a rewarding conclusion.
Writing is an important part of everyone’s life, whether we use it in school, in the workplace, as a hobby or in personal communication. It is important to have this skill because it helps us as writers to express feelings and thoughts to other people in a reasonably permanent form. Formal writing forms like essays, research papers, and articles stimulates critically thinking. This helps the writer to learn how to interpret the world around him/her in a meaningful way. In college, professors motivate students to write in a formal, coherent manner, without losing their own voice in the process. Improving your writing skills is important, in every English class that’s the main teaching point; to help students improve their writing skills. Throughout my college experience I have acknowledge that
Evaluating my distant analysis essays to my most present essays; I have noticed a tremendous amount of of improvement in my writing. My vocabulary has increased with intellectual diction; I have expand my analyzing skills. I retain more knowledge of consisting a flowing satisfactory sentence structure.
Synthesis Essay As a writer, my overall writing style has changed greatly over the years. With each paper being a trial and error experience for me each one has a different outlook and method of getting my point across to the reader. With each paper I’m constantly trying to make each one better than the last, by improving and evolving the type of tone, imagery, and even though the type of diction I use in each of my papers stays the same, that doesn’t mean the way in which I present and use it hasn’t and with that in mine it's clear that my writing style has in fact changed over the years.
When I transitioned into 7th grade, I was very clueless when it came to grammar and sophisticated writing techniques; little did I know how to use commas, semicolons, and transition words in a sentence. Throughout the year, not only did my grammar enhance, but also my sentence structure matured vastly. Reading my papers from the beginning of the year to the end of the year, I knew that my writing has improved.
I have shown tremendous progress in further developing my writing skills throughout the course of this semester in a vast variety of means. Principally, in a research paragraph that was completed in the beginning of the semester, I wrote, “This example clearly portrays how male athletes are held superior to female athletes, despite what their skill level may be.” The listed quote is a reasonably satisfactory discussion sentence, but I could have better connected it to society by adding in the sentence, “The passing on Title IX had intentions of changing that societal belief,” which I have just recently revised into the paragraph. Additionally, in my most recently completed research paper, I have clearly portrayed the improvement and development of my vocabulary and language skills. In my introduction
For the Things Fall Apart literary analysis essay specifically, my word choice and grammar have improved. Even though my word choice is changing in minimal amounts, it is improving as time goes on. My grammar has also improved as I develop a better understanding of how punctuation and words work together in sentences. Even though I have improved in some ways as a writer, there are some parts where I have stayed stagnant. I am stagnant in my vocabulary and finding the deeper meaning of figurative language.
