Reflections on Spiritual Love
“Love is friendship that has caught fire. It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving. It is loyalty through good and bad times. It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weaknesses” was stated by Ann Landers. There is a difference between physical love and spiritual love. Platonic love is when you have a close relationship with someone where there is no intimacy or romance. It is similar to spiritual love because two people share a connection and have a mutual respect for each other, whereas physical love is when one person is attracted to another person based on their physical characteristics, such as appearance and intelligence and it may have intimacy. Platonic love allows people to love and share mutual respect for each other and build connections; it is similar to spiritual love. People come into your life for a reason and sometimes there is platonic love where both people help each other develop and grow. Platonic love occurs when you have people in your life that you are not in a relationship with, yet you still have a mutual connection and respect to them; it can be seen in families, friends and

You never have a physical relationship with them, yet the platonic love that connects both of you makes you a better person. Everyone has had someone who inspired them in their life and taught them lessons. There have been many teachers in my life that have helped me fuel my creative spark and have helped me grow and keep going when I felt lost and everything was falling apart. One of the teachers that has inspired me in my life is Mrs. Smith. We have a mutual love and respect for each other as teacher and student. Mrs. Smith’s sunny attitude always helps clear away the rain clouds. I am glad that with platonic love, we share a connection and mutual respect for each other and am grateful for the AP English topics she has
...as the day we married.” (p 23) On the surface, all seems well; however if on looks closer one can see a very sad occurrence-taking place. Most couples who have lasted a goodly time together will not answer the question, “Do you love your spouse like the day you married?” Invariably man and wife will reply, “No, I love him/her more than the day we married.” Long married couples become closer. Intimacy grows in the physical as the couple’s love proportionally grows all more. The growth is palpable to the individuals within the marriage. Furthermore, as life’s hardships are over come together, the couple’s love will grow exponentially. Welty understands this yet chooses a different path for the Fletchers. Some place in time, either by Mrs. Fletchers pride or by Mr. Fletcher’s inability to deal with confrontation, the growth of which should have taken place will happen.
The notion behind loving someone is simply very complicated and esoteric in nature. People often describe a certain chemistry, as in a certain attraction, needed between two individuals who are in love, but Barbara Fredrickson is able to coordinate the definition of love on the basis of chemicals. Barbara Fredrickson is able to provide the definition of love on the deductive reasoning based on chemistry, biology, and neurology explained in Love 2.0: How our Supreme Emotion Affects Everything we Feel, Think, Do, and Become. As Barbara explains, “With each micro-moment of love, then, you climb another rung on the spiraling ladder that lifts you up to your higher ground, to richer and more compassionate social relationships, to greater resilience and wisdom, and to better physical health.” (121).
... like…togetherness or something”. Their definition of love contains key intimacy characteristics with definitions like “integral part of whom you are”, “deep connection”, “happiness”, and “togetherness”. This individual touches upon love in a much more meaningful and emotional closeness compared to the previous individual who’d described it in a more physical and excitable manner. This form of love follows passion, and plays a role in the future commitment of two individuals. Like passion, this concept is also a stepping stone towards allowing young adults to complete their task of intimacy vs. isolation. Intimacy greatly influences romantic relationships, and is a concept that many young adults preoccupy themselves with during their development.
he Power of Love Love is a powerful emotion that affects everyone at some time in their lives. According to Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary, love is defined as a feeling of strong and constant affection for someone(1). Love can refer to the feelings between a couple in a romantic relationship, or it can refer to the affection one would have with a friend. When love is shown, each person cares about the other. Sometimes, love can be hypnotizing, causing one to do something they would not do normally.
This poem has captured a moment in time of a dynamic, tentative, and uncomfortable relationship as it is evolving. The author, having shared her thoughts, concerns, and opinion of the other party's unchanging definition of the relationship, must surely have gone on to somehow reconcile the situation to her own satisfaction. She relishes the work entailed in changing either of them, perhaps.
What is love? The age-old question arises once more. In truth, a universal definition has not been agreed upon, but generally one can define love as “an indication of adoration” or an “an ineffable feeling of intense attraction shared in interpersonal and sexual relationships.” Love can be directed towards kin, a lover, oneself, nature, or humanity- but regardless that love in an emotional sense is eternal. Some fall into love, and some claim they fall out. Love should be endless, lasting, and pure, but half of the time that love ends up being a sham. There is solid record of this false love- love that is meant to look pure- in the famous writings The Lottery and To His Coy Mistress.
She is known for creating radical novels, which stuck discord in many of its early readers, and writing highly respected sonnets. Similar to Behn, Smith also captures the inner thoughts of not just women, but all human beings in the sonnet “Written at the Close of Spring” and juxtaposes the beauty of the annual spring with the frailty of humanity. In the first stanza of this poem, the speaker uses imagery to help readers connect with the beauty and delicacy of spring flowers. In the second stanza, she calls attention to the fact that the spring flowers are dying and, to experience the beauty again, one will have to wait until next spring to enjoy them.
Love is said to be one of the most desired things in life. People long for it, search for it, and crave it. It can come in the form of partners, friends, or just simply family. To some, love is something of a necessity in life, where some would rather turn a cold shoulder to it. Love can be the mixture of passion, need, lust, loyalty, and blood. Love can be extraordinary and breathtaking. Love being held so high can also be dangerous. Love can drive people to numerous mad things with it dangerously so full of craze and passion.
The Definition of Love Love by definition is an emotion explored in philosophy, religion, and literature, often as either romantic love, the fraternal love of others, or the love of God based on the definition found in The Encarta Encyclopedia. As I explored the definitions through the Internet, books, and articles, I noticed the definitions changed quite a bit, but yet had the same basic understanding. The definition I found in The Encarta Encyclopedia is probably the most simple and most basic. It refers to love in the whole aspect, which is Godly, fraternal, and romantic. All of which can only be defined by one word and that is love.
Love is an interpersonal relationship developed, maintained, and possibly destroyed through communication, but also can be enhanced by communication. Love is often described as a feeling of closeness, caring, intimacy and commitment between two people. There are six different types of love: eros, ludus, storge, pragma, mania, and
Platonic love is in my opinion, the most important and vital aspect of love. Without platonic love people are ...
Love, in fact, is all of these things combined together. Love is spiritual, not physical. It is a union of souls and hearts and minds, not something you can't put under your microscope and understand!" Love is an emotion combined with a series of feelings. These feelings can be immensely powerful and wonderful. Romantic love is defined as an intense emotional state that one person experiences in relation to another. These types of feelings appear to be among the most intense that most of us are capable of, and at least in some cases, grow rather than diminish with time.
Love is the basis of every day life, and it gives us the power to feel so affectionately
The reason why is so difficult to define is that it is one of the most complicated feelings in the human range of emotions. Love is a bundle of emotion felt at the same time. There are many different types of love, family love, friendship love, conceptual love and intimate love. Family love is unconditional, meaning its is timeless and everlasting. The great part of this is love is you can be yourself, make mistakes, and you will always be forgiven. The love shared between friends is similar. But there are boundaries not to be crossed. Friendship love knows that you have someone there to talk to. Especially about things that you could not your parents. Conceptual love is a love of material things, and ideas or characteristics. This love we feel towards object or material things. It also is the feeling of loving characteristic traits, such as kindness, humor, and others.
According to Merriam -Webster, love can ultimately be described as a “ profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person.” The contradictory term for love is hatred, something that one person hates. With love, we can expect it to be unique, unconditional, and effortless.
