The Gamm Theatre in Pawtucket, Rhode Island did an excelent job performing the drama filled play Macbeth. Directed by Fred Sullivan Jr and starring Tony Estrella, the Gamm's own artistic director, as Macbeth himself, with Jeanine Kane at his side playing Lady Macbeth. I found that these two as performers have strong solo acts and put an interesting and unique twist to the set. Other characters such as; Richard Donelly as Duncan, Steve Kidd as the ever vengeful Macduff, just to name a few. The Gamm theatre not only had me on the edge of my seat, as i was looking around a few other audiance members were as well. As noted on Gamm's website, the press; including the Providence Journal and WPRO, both had nothing but good things to say about the …show more content…
The drive for power, the betrayl, the anxiety, everthing, in my opinion, that Shakespear was trying to convey was excelently played out at the Gamm. This drama performed at the Gamm effectivly illuminated each character and each scene. Not only by having limited props and a spacious stage set, but the individuals performing each character added their own as well. Macbeth, Tony Estrella, throughout his entire perfoemance and even a few solos, suprised me with his acting skills. I was not expecting the projections in the back to be so simple and yet his interactions with them, seemed to have such an impact that the entire audience was set back as well. Right by his side, Lady Macbeth, perfoemed by Jeanine Kane, was also a strong role played by a strong actress. She is percieved to have everthing in her power and under her control and then it slips through her fingers and she turns insane. She aids in portreying Shakespears message in a confident and self-possessed woman character, just as Lady Macbeth seemingly is. Along with the two lead roles, the other actors and actresses did an amazing job portreying their character on stage. Malcom, played by Jordan Ahnquist, did an outstanding job keeping his character a determined leader. Michael Walker, playing Banquo, shockingly was able to keep his character involved and suspicious of Macbeth. These few underdogs of characters stood out to me as
In conclusion I think that the stage directions and dramatic irony are significant to the play, and without them there would be no need for a lot of the events that happen in the play.
Not unlike Shakespeare’s Macbeth, the character of Macbeth in Rupert Goold’s film is a savage, power-hungry politician. In Goold’s film, however, Macbeth finds humor in the tumultuous events leading to his downfall. His chilling laughter upon the announcement of his wife’s suicide and his demeaning attitude towards his fellow rege...

William Shakespeare was born on 26 April 1564 (died on 23 April 1616), in Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire. Shakespeare was a poet, playwright and actor and has written about 38 plays, 154 sonnets, and two long narrative poems. Shakespeare wrote many successful plays such as, Julius Caesar, Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet was written in the mid-1590s in London and even today it is considered to be one of the greatest plays ever written. It is a play based on a long dispute between two families, the Montague’s and the Capulet’s, and takes place in the cities of Verona and Mantua, Italy, over the course of four short days.
In the play Macbeth, or more commonly referred to as the Cursed Scottish Play, the multitude of death and betrayal covers up or destroys the potential heroism of many characters, except for that of Macduff. His purity, courage, and sacrifice throughout the course of the play enable this hero to eventually orchestrate the fall of Macbeth.
At the end of the play Lady Macbeth is described by Malcom as being a
ShakespeaRe-told: Macbeth is a wonderfully written and directed film, with both James McAvoy and Keeley Hawes acting with mastery. The film is both entertaining to watch, detailed enough for discerning analysis, and connects with adolescents effectively. It is obvious that this is the best interpretation for English teachers across
In Shakespeare’s play Macbeth, the protagonist, Macbeth, murders the king of Scotland and eventually murders several other people. In the end, Macbeth meets his tragic fate of being killed by the nobleman Macduff. Throughout the play, Macbeth makes decisions that affect his fate, but other characters manipulate his choices and his actions. Early in the play Macbeth, Macbeth has control over his actions, but due to the influence of other characters and his subsequent insanity, by the end of the play, Macbeth has no control over his fate.
William Shakespeare born in 1564 is famously known as one of the most influential writers of all time; he conjured up many breathtaking plays during his lifetime. One of Shakespeare most successful plays was the tragedy Macbeth. Public and critical acclaim quickly followed and Shakespeare eventually became the most popular play writer of all time. In this famous play Shakespeare has portrayed Macbeth as respectable noble man however he is motivated to go down the path of dishonesty and crime.
William Shakespeare was born in Stratford upon Avon in 1564. One of the most influential writers of all time, still remembered today for his enigmatic plays. The zeitgeist of England in the 17th century did nothing but intensify his success. In an age of acute paranoia and a morbid fascination surrounding the supernatural, plays like Macbeth' were the forbidden fruit craved for by the public of that era. Also as feminism was yet to be invented Macbeth' was also controversial in relation to the character of Lady Macbeth, and her almost masculine temperament. In a time where men were the dominant gender, Lady M's domineering character was intriguing. Shakespeare's plays are grouped into three categories; histories, tragedies and comedies. Macbeth is ultimately a tragedy. He was thought to have written The Scottish Play' for King James I, who had a personal interest in witchcraft and the supernatural. In this essay I intend to explore Macbeth and Lady Macbeths fall from grace and the deterioration of their relationship throughout the play.

Macbeth: Appearance vs Reality? & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; The way people act on the outside and who they really are on may be two totally different things. Some may change because they feel they don't fit in the sand. Others pretend to be something they truly aren't. No matter which. The way you look at it, if you try to act like someone your not, the truth will. always appear in the end. That is exactly what happened in William. Shakespeare's play, MacBeth. Banquo, MacBeth, and Lady MacBeth each project an. image, but as time passes.
Overall my partner and I were able to deliver a good performance. I was able to express the way Macbeth was feeling to the audience. I think the way I performed helped the audience get an idea of what was happening. I was able to convey my emotions though my body language and the way I addressed the lines. Playing Macbeth was an interesting experience. Performing this scene helped me discover the personalities of the characters.
Impressions of Macbeth in Act 1 At the beginning of the play, Macbeth, the honourable Thane of Glamis, is the “bravest” soldier, who fights for the King without mercy. He is a very successful and a highly respected member, who is always loaded with honours and praise. His rank and nobility are of great value, and his fighting for King Duncan is magnificent, and of course courageous. (Shakespeare describing Macbeth’s courage in battle: “Like valour’s minion carved out his passage till he faced the slave” (Act 1, scene 1, line 19)). Macbeth fights bravely, in hope that he will be known as a “valour’s minion” – Macbeth strongly values success because he recognises the fame and new titles he will gain from the public.
