During my time observing at the Seed Day Care, I saw our course objectives come to life. I saw many different students who had different needs and behaviors. The teachers were highly qualified to meet the needs of all students and create a positive learning environment for all students in the class. The teacher 's had to adapt to different situations and help different students throughout the course of the day. They also had to make accommodations and modifications to help students in their class. One student had a speech impairment and a therapist came to spend time with that student individually. Another child had ADHD and had to be seated close to the teacher in order to prevent misbehavior and to help the child remain on task. When the student was near the teacher, she responded better to assignments and circle time. Observing this class has showed me many ways that teachers can meet the needs of all students in the class. The use of technology and visual aids was helpful to all students. This helped bring reading to life for all the students. Small group work helped all children as they …show more content…
This week’s theme was boats and the sea. The class did an arts and crafts where they got to make paper boats. They then got to test out their boats in the water to see if they would float or sink. They colored the boats with crayons so that they would float. Then the class had sports time where they played games to stay active. Then the class had lunch. I saw the teachers manage misbehavior during lunch from different students. The class then had reading time where students got to do some independent reading with the help of the teacher if needed. Then the students got to go outside for playtime. Nap time soon followed. The students then had spanish and some math time. They then listened to an audio tape that read them their favorite chapter book. The students finished the day with
Overall, I was very impressed with the infant room I observed. To start off the day, the teacher warmly welcomed all of the children and parents. The teacher asked the parent how their night was since they left the daycare the night before, when they ate last, had a diaper change, and when did they wake up. I made me feel like the teacher really cared about the children even when they where not in her care and waited to make sure everything went ok at home. All of the personal care routines where fallowed and the teacher where constantly washing their ha...
A requirement in being an early childhood teacher, is to fulfill the needs, of the children and families I will work for. In chapter one, you have the Lawrence and Ashley Family. In the Lawrence family, they are a married couple, which means more income for the family. Whereas the Ashley family has one income. In addition, to the Ashley family, having one income and dealing with the state can bring heartache and struggles to buy food, clothes, housing, school supplies and other day to day activities. Therefore, I need to comprehend the lives of the families I work for and to be aware of the circumstances of the individual families. To the same degree. I need to respect the boundaries; of the families I work for. Trust is a must. With no trust, there is no communication and things get can get
Seed, a book by Lisa Heathfield, applies the idea that knowledge is power, but ignorance is bliss through the character development of Pearl, the deep descriptions of the settings and ambiguity of Pearl’s knowledge on certain scenes. Seed’s narrative quality explores that knowledge does not always make one influential, however, not acquiring knowledge means not feeling conflicted.
The Child Development Center of College of San Mateo provides early care and educational programs for children between the ages of 3 to 5 years old. Children are divided into classrooms with a “master” teacher, a “regular” teacher, and two or three “associate” teachers. Klara attended Classroom, “A,” a stimulating and well-resourced classroom. Klara was observed for two hours on Monday from 9 am to 11 am and for two hours on Wednesday from 9 am to 11 am. During these two hours, classroom activities consisted of “free time,” “story time,” and an outside “play time.” A “master” teacher, a “regular” teacher, and two “associate” teachers were present during observations. Additionally, a total of eighteen children were in attendance during the observed days.
Child Observation Record (COR) is the checklist that evaluates children’s learning in the five content areas. Each day, teachers observe children at play in natural and authentic situations and then take notes about children’s behavior. These records are gathered to help teachers evaluate children’s development and plan activities to help individual children and even the whole classroom make progress. For teachers, the Preschool Program Quality Assessment (PQA) is used to evaluate whether the whole High Scope program and the staffs are using the most effective classroom and program management
After, we played some fun activities like rolling down hills, which was this game where people crossed arms and then tried to have every body's arms straight. We also spotted deer. The deer were trying to hide from us when we saw them. They sprinted off faster than a cheetah when we saw them. We were able to have our lunch and then we played more fun games after that. My class went and walked all over Leroy oaks getting to see all of the nature. One guy who worked there taught us about acorns. He was hilarious, sarcastic, and was like go ahead and jump in the poison ivy. Next, we went inside a museum and did a scavenger hunt. The scavenger hunt was about raccoons and all the other creatures in the museum. I was not the biggest fan it but it went pretty quickly. All I had to do was look at some posters and in some drawers. Mrs. Palpant had a station where you had two rugs and you had to get across with six people on the mats and not touch the ground. It was hard to succeed because there are six people. I was always the person that had to move one of the mats up. The rugs were not very big only about two and a half by two. But, up next we were going to go in the water. I was ready to
...up instead of struggling to meet the need of two groups of children at different stages. When the teachers are happy they are more likely to enjoy their work, creating a less stressful environment for everyone.

I observed at St. Eve’s Learning Center location in their preschool room. The center has a naturalistic feel to the environment and all of the staff is friendly and welcoming. The classroom displayed best practices, modern theories and research, and followed expected standards set by their accreditations.
Every teacher has this potential whether they are aware of it or not. I have been a teacher for nine years in early childhood education and within those nine years I have become very aware of how powerful the smallest act of caring can turn a person’s life around or even just make someone’s day a little better. Being a preschool teacher has brought me great pleasure to my life simply brightening a child’s day and knowing that I am making a difference in their life. Through my journey as a teacher I have thought about how I can advance in my career field and still be active with children on a daily basis and continue making a difference in each child’s life as well as their parents. With plenty of thought and research I have come to the conclusion and gained the interest to become a preschool and childcare director.
This class added to my knowledge of working with children such as I usually pay attention and have active listening when children talk to me that also help me to meet children’s needs. I also feel more confident to speak up at
As a teacher in early childhood development, I believe that the teacher skills and personality influence how children understand, observe and react to the classroom environment and the world around them. Even though part of teacher responsibilities are academic, daily interactions that encourage social, emotional and physical development are important. One of a quality effective early childhood educators’ characteristic is that they should have patience.
As an early childhood educator my job is not to simple play with children. I must plan, provide and supervise all while “playing” with my students. The classroom serves as the physical environment for the children for most of their waking hours. These classrooms need to be attractive and function effectively. Concerns for any early childhood educator should always include space, equipment and materials used, outdoor space and the daily schedule to ensure that all students are provided ample opportunities to learn and grow within a safe and secure environment.
We spoke about the children in the classroom who have personalities and learning styles that are unique to them. Building a relationship with each child, gives her the opportunity to gain the necessary knowledge to create lesson plans that are relatable to their personalities and learning styles. Her association with the children impacts their feelings of safety and security which relates to their ability to interact and learn in the classroom. Another advantage my cooperating teacher spoke about is the fact she has known many of the children since they were babies. She has witnessed them grow, develop personalities, and learning
I thought that the teachers did a nice job with their classroom set up. I felt like I could have kept myself busy all day just by looking at the walls and seeing the pictures of presidents and famous historic quotes by famous people of our nations past. One thing I really enjoyed was the time the teachers allotted me at the end of each class to reflect to the class. Not only throughout my past middle school, and high school experiences but also, and most importantly, my current college experiences, the temptations that I have had to endure have definitely been rewarding.
