My practicum was a tremendously helpful experience. I have learned how to be a better educator as well as have grown in my Christian walk and being an effective Christian Teacher. I can say with more certainty now that I am able to student teach next year.
Firstly, the practicum contributed to my professional growth. I come from a Polish public school system and had little idea about how a day at school in United States looks like. I was able to learn various classroom procedures by observing several teachers – how to do lunch count, report absences, keep absent work, walk to other places around the school, etc. Moreover, I have seen diverse types of informative assessment that can be used to check the student learning, such as using whiteboards,

After rectum, I see that I have my strength and areas I am not the strongest in. I consider my commitment to the students learning and having a positive leadership relationship with the students something I succeed in, as I focused my time with the students on their learning, different instruction before and during it to meet the needs of the children. I also consider my knowledge of technology and how to use it in instruction my strong point. I have grown in my IT abilities, especially with operating a Promethean Board during instruction and creating interactive PowerPoint presentations and Flipcharts. On the other hand, I see my need got improvement in certain areas. For example, I need to become more flexible. I When my teacher would ask me very last minute to add something to the instruction that I was not planning on doing, it hindered the effectiveness of my instruction, Another thing that I will be working on in my future teaching experiences is making the instructions clear and easy to follow. I tend to complicate the instructions and not give short specific step by step points.
I think I have shown in my practicum experience the BJU Conceptual Framework Dispositions
Looking back, I believe that the correct choice was made. Obviously, I cannot know for sure until I immerse myself in the waters of a full-time teaching position. Perhaps I will come to find that the field of education is not what I expected. Maybe I will be unable to get through to my students. Who knows—these are all possibilities. I think about these possibilities from time to time, and they always scare me. Devoting four years of my life to something only to fail at that pursuit would be devastating. Despite these fears, ...
As a second language learner I have never expected myself to be a perfect writer throughout the semester. Even If English was my first language still, I would not be a perfect writer. It is not about first or second language, it is about how well I understand the learning objectives. Then organizing and writing with my own ideas and putting them in my paper. I am going to be honest, I am not good at English subject and English subject is my strongest weakness than the other subjects. In this paper I will discuss and analyze my own writing, reflecting on the ways that my writing has improved throughout the semester.
I demonstrated professionalism throughout this whole year. Taking a full load of my masters and being a first year teacher was a challenge. I learned very quickly the things I could and could not do. I kept to myself a lot because I was always listening. I was learning at school and at work. I learned never to use a child’s name especially when you’re out in public. I learned to be very prepared during any meetings with administrators or parents. I made sure I had correct forms on file to protect myself. I always showed respect to my parents, students, administrators, and fellow teachers. I was not afraid to ask for help when I needed it. I always kept an open form of communication between me and my principle.
In conclusion I feel that I have gained knowledge that can only be obtained through hands on experience in the classroom. With this experience I changed my assumption about classroom management techniques and have a totally new outlook which will only aid me as a teacher. This will be of great help to me going forward but I feel as a teacher you must be constantly open to learning and improving
There has definitely been a lot of stressors that have shaped me into a better professional and educator. I have overcame being displaced in a temporary room with little to know supplies for 3 months, being interim Head Teacher for 1.5 months while still performing all my Teacher Assistant duties, training and working with 2 new staff as well as personal issues going on as well. I have overcome everything. I believe now that I can tackle whatever life throws at me. This quarter, I believe that I became a better educator by increasing my abilities to individualize learning and development, being more focused on how children learn instead of what they learn, and learning techniques and practices I can put into effect next year as an educator. I definitely feel like a better educator after learning from this program. I have the ability to be patient when children are having negative behaviors. I have grown into a professional improvising in situations, and I definitely have a lot of knowledge about how children learn. The best part of my experience has been working with other professionals that I now call colleagues. I realize that networking with other agencies is the best way to accomplish goals for children. I have learned so much from working with people outside of Head Start and my other practicums. I have full confidence in my abilities to teach and educate children, as well as administrate. With my education, and experience I know that I am now a quality educator and can perform any job with
In the Field: A Guide for the Social Work Practicum, helps students to make the leap from the theories they learned in the classroom to the real world they will encounter in their field placement. It addresses issues that students often struggle within their beginning practicum and reinforces that co-workers, supervisors, and the students ' own life experiences have much offer (Danowski, 2012).
My practicum to most people would seem repetitive: go over patients charts, see a couple of patients in the morning, go to interdisciplinary rounds and see a couple of more in the afternoon. However, to me it is one of the most challenging jobs I have ever had and one of the most satisfying. Everyday I am learning how to be more professional with my writing, communication, and my interaction with peers and patients. My field instructor’s Jeff and Chris are always challenging me to write more professional and clinical in my notes. Learning how to be precise and efficient in my writing skills has always been a challenge for me and I respect them for this.
The learned the terminology, student learning, and how to increase student learning in the classroom. I have learned what my true strengths and weaknesses are a future teacher. My two strengths are giving students positive feedback and demonstrating a positive attitude. I prefer to give students positive feedback, rather than negative feedback, due to the fact, students is more likely to perform well in the classroom. I am an optimistic individual, and I like to show and demonstrate to students a positive attitude. On the other hand, my two weaknesses are: assertiveness towards students and not finding my role in the classroom. From time to time, I find it difficult to find my role in the classroom because I want the students to respect me, but not perceive me as their main teacher. Last week, I had a student try to sit too close to me, and I could not find the proper way and words to address to the student to quit the behavior, without hurting the student’s feelings. After this preclinical one experience, I have discovered my strengths and weaknesses as a teacher
In conclusion, I think my practicum was a rich learning experience. I was exposed to various community organizations and I have the opportunity to interact and communicate with people with varying backgrounds, experiences and perspectives.
I was assigned at the University of Tampa (UT) for my NGR 6947 (fall semester) practicum. Initially I contacted my preceptor, Dr. Cindy Parsons, via email for introducing myself, thanking her for being my preceptor, and getting a telephone appointment to go over the practicum curriculum. The appointment was fixed for 08/26/15, Wednesday at 11:00 am. We had a 30 minutes phone conference, during which I went over my schedule and the practicum assignments. Since I have already completed my NGR 6940, I was able to explain thoroughly my goals and expectations to the preceptor. She promised to send me the syllabus, her curriculum vitae, and the clinical schedule via email. On 08-28-15, I received the syllabus and we were able to work on the
When I reflect back to the beginning of this semester I am astonished at how much I have learned. English 124 has been a real eye opener for me. Not only have I grown as a writer, but it has challenged me to become more of a critical thinker. In the class we have read many articles on diverse topics, studied theories of history’s greatest philosophers of education, and wrote various styles of papers.
...l of mine is to request frequent feedback on my performance and lesson plans. This quarter in kindergarten my mentor teacher provided little to no feedback on my lesson plans which lead me to believe they were sound when they actually could have been tweaked a bit more to fit my mentor teachers instructional approaches and the children’s way thinking. I will also need to pay closer attention to dates, deadlines and my performance expectations. I often found myself mixed up with dates which are a critical in our short time spent in practicum. Even though I had some rough encounters with my kindergarten experience I felt I learned a great deal about professionalism, patience and working with children developing on varying levels. Overall, my practicum experiences were supportive of my course learning and greatly appreciated.
My stage of development would be proficient in all four domains and components of professional practice, however, few domains and components are my higher strength and the other areas are needed improvement. The four years of my teaching experience, I had the opportunity to be evaluated by my principle, and she used these four domains of professional practice. Through her expertise and suggestions, she provided guidance to develop and improve my skills in the stage of proficiency or to the expert stage. The classroom environment and professional responsibilities domains are my strength that I worked on past few years. Nevertheless, I am continually building more skills and foundation on components of planning and preparing for the content and instruction part. I work with different students need and learning styles every year, therefore I am continually learning the new strategies and information to help all my learners to success. Furthermore, I have been developing and working on improving in content, pedagogy, knowing student’s learning and self-knowledge areas. However, my weakness in knowledge areas is performing higher co...
In high school, English was my strongest and favorite subject. I never had to work as hard in English as I did in math or any other subjects I took in high school. My peers would cram all night for a Literature test we were going to have but not I. I excelled in writing essays about Moby Dick and his white Whale or Beowulf and Grendel. My confidence in my ability to write was always high and when I enrolled at Chattahoochee, I assumed my confidence would not waiver. When I received my grade for my first paper, I was in shock of all the red ink that covered it. English 1101 taught me the skills I needed to have to be able to write a great paper and prepared me for what was to come for English 1102. English 1102 have taught me to rethink my abilities as a writer and to work harder and spend more time on my essays and think outside the box.
My strengths are the ability to interaction with students. I will try to use my time to build positive relationship with individuals and keep record of their behaviors, characteristics and specific concerns. This will allow the students to trust me and allow me
