This paper will reflect on the definition of personality and some key definitions that define our behavior but not us as individuals. Understanding personality differences is a start of knowing how to adapt when other personalities are presented.

In order to understand what personality is let start by defining personality. Personality is a combination of his or her interests, attitude behavior patterns and other traits that may continue throughout his or her life span. “The definition has two important components. First, each person’s of thinking, feeling, and behaving makes him or her distinctive. The second defining component is the notion that an individual’s personality is relatively consistent (Davis, Palladino, & Christopherson, p. 437)”. Rather we realize it or not, personality define us as human beings. There are many different personality traits that can contribute to making up a person’s personality and have a huge influence on the way they may act in any given situation.
There are four main personalities theories: Psychodynamic Perspective-is heavily influenced by the work of Sigmund Freud, and emphasizes the influence of the unconscious mind and childhood experiences on personality. Psychodynamic theories include Sigmund Freud’s psychosexual stage theory and Erik Erikson’s stages of psychosexual development. There are three major concepts in psychodynamic theory; psychic determinism (refers to the past and present), instincts (driven by energy), and the unconscious that has different levels; conscious (ego), preconscious (superego) and unconscious (id) (p. 460-461). ...rent instead of ignoring them. Do not do unto others as you would have done unto you unless you have walked a mile in their shoes. By learning self-awareness people can become more alert to the needs of others and more able to meet those needs.
The truth is that there are many different types of people who require certain sensitivities giving the circumstances in which their habits are beyond their control. The world can be more peaceful if everyone took the time out to learn about a person personality instead of judging him or her because of his or her personality. The importance of understanding personality is to continue improving your personality and to remember that personality is developed and not inherited. There is always room for change and no one should ever be judged because of their personality simply because it does not define that individual person.
