Over the summer I had the opportunity to intern with Community Empowerment Solutions where I provided pro-bono consulting services to entrepreneurs in Ecuador. Through this experience, I solidified my interest in business and entrepreneurship. I am interested in interning with Facebook’s business programs because I am passionate about creating change in the world by connecting it and want to pursue my interest in business. A Facebook University for Global Marketing Solutions internship would provide me the opportunity to follow my interest in business by applying the problem solving and team-focused skills that I have acquired, and also allow me to continue learning about business solutions that would further my ability to create change at Facebook and once I leave Facebook. …show more content…
During my summer internship with CES, I managed a team of interns in charge of solving problems that local entrepreneurs faced—such as sourcing capital, refining marketing campaigns, and improving business plans—while working with obstacles like illiteracy, limited finances, and cultural barriers. One project I was assigned included developing an effective feedback system between entrepreneurs and CES. I relied on indigenous community leaders—who were well known and held positions of authority among the community—and WhatsApp, which was widely used and cheaper than conventional modes of communication. Through projects like these, I had to adjust to my surroundings and learn quickly. I enhanced my ability to think creatively and learned how to use unconventional methods to solve complex problems. I hope to apply these skills at Facebook, and continue pursuing my passion for business by tackling the problems that Facebook’s business partners. I hope to create an impact by using creative and innovative methods to help businesses reach their

Internships are becoming the norm in today’s ever changing society. Both paid and unpaid internships allow the intern to learn about a particular field or industry, gain experience in that particular field or industry, and build a network that can be leverage for future good. These benefits combined prove to be very useful and significant to the intern because it’s a differentiator from those individuals who did not have an internship. Given the very competitive job market for recent college graduates, the many benefits of internships have caused many interns to pass up pay in return for the aforementioned benefits. Internships have become so standard in the workplace that the National Association of Colleges and Employers recently reported that 75 percent of employers prefer job candidates with relevant work experience, while more than 90 percent prefer to hire interns who have worked for their organization (Bacon, 2011). When it comes to hiring full-time employees, 42% of graduates with internships who applied for a job received an job offer compared to...
I have always had a keen interest in business. The field of business is vast and full of opportunities. It allows you to work in any industry, from a pharmaceutical company to a financial services firm to a paper mill. Last summer, I did an internship at Lahore Stock Exchange; Pakistan’s second largest stock exchange. During the period of my internship, I had the fortunate opportunity to observe and participate in the day to day operations of the stock exchange. I was able to learn new skills and network and connect with several individuals across the different departments of the stock exchange. In addition ...
All business schools should have an internship program. The benefits that the internship program can give to its students are outstanding. Students that participate in internships not only benefit themselves but they can also help out other business students by bringing back valuable knowledge and sharing it with them. But usually both the student and the business and the business school benefit from the internship. According to Swift and Kent researchers have reported that students who participate in formal internships find their jobs sooner and receive more job offers than do students who do not participate in internships. This being true perspective students in the business field might start looking into schools to see how their internship programs are and might star...

(SUMMER INTERNSHIP REPORT IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE AWARD OF FULL TIME BACHELORS IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (2013-16))
I have always been enamored by business: The allure of working hard and reaping the rewards of it has stirred within me a passion of which I have never tired. This fervor has influenced me to apply to the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where I believe I can be a valuable asset to the college while it in turn prepares me to face the challenges and opportunities that both the domestic and international economies present.
This summer’s course in ‘Business and Society’ was a great opportunity for me to learn more about myself, my perspective of business, the role of government in society, policy makers and most importantly the views of the stakeholders. For the spring semester gone and this summer session almost all classes were tied into my major, giving me a better understanding on what I want out of my degree. My major here at Marymount Manhattan College is Finance and this class has surely helped me in figuring out, the workings of ‘big business’ and its impact on stakeholders. This course has helped me understand why many laws, at one point to me sounded absurd, but are in place to protect both industry and stakeholder. I never thought communication was such a priority in the business world until taking this class. From newly learnt material I see communication as a

Being an entrepreneur, is advanced citizenship, you have to want it real bad. Entrepreneur is not entitlement. Being an entrepreneur is a life commitment. Like in the movie Wall Street, a famous line was "You can 't be a little bit pregnant." The fact is you can 't be an on again, off again entrepreneur.
Many people dream of becoming entrepreneurs someday. But it made me realize that there other factors that needs to be taken into consideration. We need to ask ourselves are we ready to take the challenge to the outside world. Not everyone have the vision, innovation and creativity to become an entrepreneur. The individual must have a positive attitude and accept the responsibility, have discipline to meet their goals, and take action when the opportunity presents itself. Many prefer a job security and rely on a weekly paycheck, while entrepreneurs will take risks and doesn 't have that luxury to know the amount of their income.
We learned a lot of things in this course, but I think the most important lesson I learned is that it’s not easy to be an entrepreneur. I was surprised to hear in the first class that 80% of startups fail, but after reading The Art of Start and E-myth Revisited I understood why this happens more often than one might expects. Some people start their own businesses for the wrong reason and some start with wrong mindset. I’ve always thought that if someone has a brilliant business idea and hardworking they will succeed and grow their business. However, now I know that there are many things to consider before starting any business. In fact, there are many strategies that an entrepreneur could follow to achieve success, such as know your customers, work “on” the business, and how
situation and how the man resisted arrest, then proceeded to kick the side door of the police car. The judge ruled that there was probable cause and that his bond would be set at $100,000. The man put his head in his hands when he heard this figure and Janet explained to me that he is probably upset because he can’t afford the bond amount which would be 10% or $10,000. It was interesting to see how Janet interacted with the courtroom, she checked off the police officers’ names when they came in for a case and also gave them pay slips if needed. Janet also assisted any victims that showed up for a hearing. Janet also calls and verifies dates and times with the police officers so they know when to show up, she will also call and inform victims
