Values Reflection
Although there will always be endless and countless challenges, I will undoubtedly overcome it through my values that I have gained from my past experiences. Throughout my life, I met people who did not have second thoughts of helping me, and I would not be where I am now without their help and support. Two of my four core values, which correlates, are caring and community involvement, because I believe that everyone will need help at some point in life, and it always feels good to give back, not just to the people who helped me, but also when being involved in the community as I know that I am making a difference. Caring for others, not just thinking of myself, gives me a sense of fulfillment, which is my top core value.

Surprisingly, the report by the Barrett Values Centre, are very accurate, which I did not expect. In fact, they infer from my values that “seeking new opportunities to develop and grow helps me find a deep sense of meaning and progress in life”, and I “enjoy having the chance to improve my skills and experiences”. Furthermore, the report states that I am dependable and I “demonstrate care for the greater good” based on my values. I absolutely agree with these statement because aside from being dependable, challenges always excites me, and most of the time, I does something not only because it will be a learning experience, but also to either explore what I want to do in the future and find new activities that I will love or give back to the community and just to do what I am passionate about. As Leo Rosten says, the purpose of life is not to be happy – but to matter, to be productive, to be useful, and make a …show more content…
The strength of the public sector is how many people they (the government) can serve despite the changing priorities and complicated system. The overemphasis on rules and procedures more often, although there have been some public reforms that led to shifting from an emphasis on process to a greater emphasis on results, has always been a weakness/limitation within the public sector. However, because of the policies, the public sector regulates the other sectors’ activity, which is one of the strengths of this sector, though it limits and prevents the other sectors on doing something that can have a positive effect. For instance, the operation of the education system (schools) is affected by how much funding they receive from the government (public sector) every year. It is not only the problem of the schools, but also the government. Another weakness that the public sector deals with is how the budget will be allocated while the demand is increasing on each federal programs/agencies. Not only that, but it will also be a challenge to maintain a balanced budget. Even though it is a strength of the public sector to ensure equal access to public goods for all citizens, the changing priorities, which is a weakness within the public sector, makes it challenging to guarantee equality. Sometimes, the funding is reduced at a certain federal agency because another federal agency is prioritized and
Your values and expectations in life. How do you measure success? Happiness? My values all stem from God the Father and His son Jesus Christ. My family, God and my career are my successes and happiness. My expectations are to be the best I can be and to always keep trying. You can do anything you put your mind to and never give up.
...following through with my commitments. I know I struggle sometimes with following through with commitments but I remind myself of the importance of being a trustworthy person. I focus on expressing gratitude, because I realize the significance in my life. I express gratitude because I know everything existing in my life is without reason. Integrity becomes an important value in my life, simply because I know my credibility is on the line. Working in an environment where integrity is sometimes forgotten, my duty becomes exemplifying integrity with everyone I meet. My purpose becomes a reality in my life as I am continually seeing the positivity in things concerning my life. My life purpose statement, “I am the geyser so that people spew out positivity to those around them.”
Over the course of this class I feel like I have become a much better writer. When I go back and look at some of my Journal entries and assignments that I did at the beginning of the semester, I can’t help but tense up at some of the things I wrote. Sometimes the things I was writing didn’t flow well, or I might have even have missed glaring grammar mistakes.
Firstly, I will begin by identifying my core values. These values can be put into two separate groups. Firstly, there are instrumental values: courageousness, intellectualism, and helpfulness. When considering the myriad of ideals, many others were eliminated
Ever since I started talking this class, English 1301, with Dr. Piercy, I have been able to expand my writing and thinking skills. Not only was I able to make more better essays but I also learned important topics such as how education creates an impact in the world. In this essay I will be talking about three writings and how they are related to this course semester. The three writings are “On Bullshit” by Harry Frankfurt, “Why I Write Bad” by Milo Beckman, and “Statement of Teaching Philosophy” by Stephen Booth. How are these 3 writings related to this semester’s course work?
...r pillars of public administration are equally important in the process of public administration and complement one another in the provision of quality public service. When public administrators have economy in mind they focus on the best combination of available resources to provide optimum public service. To ensure that public service is not limited to only a section of the public, the issue of equity is taken into consideration so that public interest is realized. Efficiency and effectiveness additionally go hand in hand in ensuring that allocated resources are used in the best possible manner to attain set goals. Thus whereas the first three public administration pillars – Economy, efficiency and effectiveness are concerned with how public service is provided the fourth and most recent addition (Equity) concerns with for whom public service is provided.
The core values that I chose for myself are challenges, loyalty, perseverance, adventure, and service. The values above describe the person that I am, as I love a challenge and to problem solve. At my job co-worker will often come to me if they cannot solve a problem. I am always happy to help them solve the problem as I enjoy digging into things and discovering a solution. I feel that each problem that I solve is a learning experience and will help down the road if I or someone else happens to encounter the same problem.
I believe respect and compassion, above all else, will support me in achieving my goals in life, because these two values alone, could help me to achieve my terminal values. Empathy and tolerance were the next in line, as these are essential to my success as a leader in a school, as a colleague, a friend and as a family member. Creativity leads to pleasure and innovation, which is key to my personal and professional success and happiness, but I did not feel was essential to my terminal values. Perseverance had to be a part of my instrumental values. I need to follow-through with the actions I take in order to demonstrate or live by the other 6 ...

The New Public Management plays a valuable role as a policy tool and as a means by which to advance rhetoric of efficiency, prudence and efficacy in state management, at a time when these values had re-emerged as a primary driving force behind mass-liberation of national economies and the international political economy in general . This new policy was implemented with a mind to change the old running of the public sector into a new form by imitating the business style of the private sector. This is because some of the politicians felt that the public servants lucked the drive and determination of the many citizens that worked outside of the public sector. So the idea was to become more like the private sector in terms of implementing better services to the citizens, as well as being more challenging when producing policies which conflict with others in the public sector. One of the major reasons why this policy gained more than enough support in earlier years was as a result of the Cold War.
This essay discusses the radical transformation of the principles and foundations of public administration from traditional to New Public Management. Firstly the essay will attempt to define the key terms of traditional public administration and the doctrine of New Public Management. Rabin J. (2003) explains that New Public Management embodies “a process in public administration that uses information and experiences obtained in business management and other disciplines to improve efficiency, usefulness and general operation of public services in contemporary bureaucracies.“Traditional Public Administration progresses from governmental contributions, with services perceived by the bureaucracy.
...ot function properly. Politics and administration should be seen as very interconnected. It is worth reiterating just as the structure of governments has changed over the years, the structure and role of public administration have also changes dramatically. Furthermore, it is important to state that public administration has grown from its traditional role of merely implementing policies adopted by the “political” branches of government to playing very significant role in the formation of public policies. This is definitely more evident in regards to professional expertise bureaucratic officials provide during problem identification, agenda setting, policy formulation, and evaluation that shape the content of public policy today. Overall, the idea that Wilson has proposed gives an accurate idea of what the relationship should be between politics and administration.
The main goal in life is to live by our beliefs and our values. These beliefs and values define who we are as a person and create how we behave towards others (Wright, 1). These beliefs and values can be defined as our personal core values. My personal core values include family, trust, honesty, friendship, and creativity, which define who I am, change from past to present, and could change again.
Overall, I have many values in my life that I would like to keep intact when I am a full adult. These are important to my future kids and me because I want them to have goals. I believe that goals are very important because they keep people strong and focused
I am the sum of the experiences I have had in my life. From these experiences, I have developed and shaped my values and qualities. I have many values such as honesty and respect; however, the value that stands out most to me is commitment. My vision on what commitment is being dedicated to something and never dropping it. Through life you 're faced with many challenges based on your values, will you hold onto your value or go against. I find myself always picking commitment. I developed this value from many things from my parents, to where I was born and has always stuck with me.
