Around the time I turned twenty-two this year I started to experience constant back pain for an unknown reason. Now I always knew back problems ran in my family, but I always assumed that it would not apply to me. I could not have been more wrong. After three weeks of enduring constant back pain I finally broke down and made an appointment to meet with my doctor to find out the problem. After some x-rays and a physical exam later, my doctor told me I had a case of slight scoliosis in the lumbar region of my spine. While numerous options were made available to me the one my doctor most recommended was to strengthen the muscles in the core to help my back.
My current fitness level when I started this assignment was at the beginner level since

After reading an article on WebMD they recommended training the back muscles no more than three times a week completing each exercise after five repetitions with breaks in between them (Smith, 2004). They also recommended stretching every day for about ten minutes in order to improve flexibility and improve muscle endurance (Smith, 2004). Some of the exercises suggested were the opposite arm and leg raise which involved raising the right and left leg off the floor while stabilizing the back muscles. Another was bridging which involved lying on your back with your knee tilted while flexing your abdominal muscles. The most important thing that all the articles stated was the importance of repetition and keeping to the workout schedule. Scoliosis Research Society also recommended that in order to improve back problems it is important to have good posture (Scoliosis, 2011). While they also suggested core training they also said it was best to wear a posture brace that helps strengthen the back muscles and makes the shoulders work in order to maintain proper posture throughout the day (Scoliosis,

The word “chiropractor” has two word origins, the Greek words cheir and praxis; meanwhile, cheir means “hand” and praxis means “practice.” Also, most of the work that chiropractors do is done by hand (Pike para. 5). In 2002, going to a chiropractor was found to be the most commonly used program for therapy. Seventy-four percent, about 4 million, of people that had back pain went to a chiropractor to get treated. Among that 74 percent of people, 66 percent of them stated that they got “a great benefit” (Pike para. 9). Many chiropractors work full time but 1 out of 3 chiropractors work part time. Chiropractors work whenever their patients need them, even on w...
Tests after tests including MRI’s, X-rays, and experimental procedures were performed to show I had five ruptured disks in the lower lumbar section of my back. Tedious Examination done by a group of doctors concluded I had a crippling disease of the spinal column called spinal stenosis. Spinal stenosis is a narrowing of the spinal canal that causes compression of the spinal cord. (Lohr,1) If this disease was ignored any longer, it would lead to many other problems affecting other areas of my back to help support this weakness. It was an extremely rare case for an athlete my age.
Each holiday serves to strengthen pride in their own histories and cultures. As people continue these celebrations, they are reminded of who they are, where they came from, and their society’s beliefs and values. Along with this, cultural awareness is also promoted. People from countries all around the world are beginning to celebrate Halloween, and more and more are becoming increasingly aware of Day of the Dead.
“Tis now the very witching time of night, when churchyards yawn and hell itself breathes out contagion to this world.” This quote by William Shakespeare accurately sums up many cultures’ feelings towards modern-day Halloween. But where did Halloween originate? While there are several different ideas, the one that seems to be the most popular is that Halloween originated from an ancient Celtic rite called Samhain (pronounced sah-win). Halloween has strong roots in Paganism, which is the cause of negative connotations with Christian religion. Many modern Halloween traditions and symbols started

Most cases of scoliosis (about 80%) are classified idiopathic, meaning the causes are unknown. Scoliosis may also result from muscle paralysis. With early treatments, spinal curvature progression can be stopped and reversed using a relatively simple treatment plan based on the same principles used by orthodontists to straighten teeth. Treatment of scoliosis depends on the severity of the curvature. It may be limited to wearing a corrective back brace. If the curvature is extreme or continues to progress, it may require surgery. During this procedure a metal rob is inserted to support the spine and packed in place with bone fragments from the pelvis.
The first difference is the days we celebrate for both of these Holidays. For Halloween we celebrate it for one day only and that day as we all know is October 31st.It is the 31st because this is the day that they believed the ghost of the dead returned
Every year we celebrate a holiday at the end of October involving costumes, candy, and pranks. Can you guess which holiday I am talking about? Of course you can! Halloween is one of the biggest holidays of the year ,second only to (in my opinion) Christmas. We follow many strange traditions on Halloween, but why? Why do we dress up? Why do we get candy? And what is the meaning of the phrase “ Trick or Treat”?

I’ve never really looked at our Halloween Festivities as a process. Going back through it now, I can see the importance of every detail and the reasoning behind it. I find it utterly amazing that our family has been able to continue these traditions, since moving here from Ireland so many years ago. How the generations of family members, whether how close, like living in the same town, or how far, like living out state, continue these traditions with their own families. Family traditions are extremely important. They mold us into the people we are and whether we realize it or not, we continue to honor our loved ones past by continuing on their traditions.
America has many days dating back in history which need to be celebrated. To illustrate, the fourth of July is very important to Americans because it is the the day they have gained their independence and freedom. Celebrating the most memorable day of the country, citizens have made fireworks and barbeque a tradition every year with family and friends. The fourth of November,Thanksgiving, is also commemorated by fellow Americans with a traditional and delicious turkey. Inhabitants of America reminisce on their life and share what they are thankful for. This day holds plenty of joyous feelings. Soaring with high creativity, Halloween is a holiday that allows children (or even adults) to dress up as witches, monsters, or other characters besides
