While I was working at Power & Water, I saw many technicians and trades communicating with my manager and supervisor. It was all about asking many questions about transmission and distribution power line issues, transformers, surge arrestors, circuit breakers etc. The communication was captivating. It is a fact that engineers are strong in theoretical concepts where as the trades and technicians are strong in practical concepts. A good engineer should be strong both in theory and practical. Engineers are the main key in an Engineering company. It is according to their suggestions and proposals, changes takes place in a company.
I had the fantastic opportunity to visit various substations and switching stations in Darwin with my supervisor Shaun De Zylva, and he explained me all the electrical and circuit components inside the substation. It was quite intriguing to know how electricity is distributed to various houses in the locality. After visiting the substations, I started to think deep into the system. While working at Power & Water, I was wondering why the university is not offering more electrical units to learn. In Charles Darwin University for the branch Electrical and Electronics Engineering, we are just studying only two electrical units. The unit called Power System Analysis was particularly useful for me.
Working at Power & Water was an enriching experience. I had invaluable experience and opportunity of learning all the key aspects involved in Power Networks, Asset Management Department. I was able to focus on the Electrical Design areas of Power & Water and learnt about the various AS/NZS standards and other design concepts. The vacation job inculcated in me a sense of commitment, motivation and teamwork. I had bui...

The three month placement also has provided me theopportunities to develop and improve my soft and functional skills. All of this valuableexperience and knowledge that I have gained were not only acquired through the directinvolvement in task given but also through other aspect of the training such as work observation, interaction with colleagues, superior, and others third party related to thecompany. From what I have undergone, I am hundred percent agree that the industrialtraining program have achieve its entire primary objective. It’s also the best ways to preparestudent in facing the real working life. As a result of the program now I am more confident toenter the employment world and build my future career.
In a nutshell, I would say the novel provides a good understanding which closely relates to the course. This novel illustrated the process of ongoing improvement inside a manufacturing plant. Last but not the least, the author taught us how to think before solving a problem as well as how to apply the approach to solve a problem.

...rs across the broad spectrum are a testament to what people should strive to be. Engineers have proven that through integrity, tenacity, and dedication a country can be formed. Engineers will always be ready for the next mission. They wait only for someone to let them try. Essayons!
For my externship I worked at Heshima, a center takeing care of physically and mentally challenged children, for 20 hours. The highlights of my experience were; successfully getting into the organization blindly, being able to work alongside the Heshima employees and watching Nelly, the headmistress’s way of doing things. She, being the head of the school used a method of leadership I had not seen before.
Apprenticeship Programme is an occupational skill training that combines on-the- job experiences with classroom instruction. It represents a tradition of providing young people with vital life skills. Part of this is the chance to learn a craft, to build expertise and to excel in a particular vocation (Lammy, 2007).
Engineering is the application of scientific, economic design and a wide range of other specialized fields of engineering. As an engineer, there are four major different areas of engineering work that I can concern about, that is chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. Beyond this four, sources separate to other main branches. Based on the electrical engineering is concerned with the basic forms of energy that run the world, there is a hopeful future in taking this major as my direction of future. However, what exactly is the benefit of this major; am I suppose to choose this major; what kinds of job opportunities that I am able to get and various of other questions are what I concerned the most.
Completing high school education from an illustrious junior college, my academic accomplishments at school earned me admission in Sri Sairam Engineering College, Chennai. Ranked 3rd in the southern region of India by Outlook and The Week, and is affiliated to prestigious Anna University. I am pursuing my bachelors in Production Engineering. I have a commodious curriculum which enunciates on latest manufacturing techniques, production management until my junior year. In my senior year, I have electives like Operation's research, Ergonomics. This opened the gates to the field of Industrial engineering and that moment, I realized that manufacturing alone is not the crux of an Industry but there are many other segments, which have to be given equal importance for the amelioration of the Industry, which made me decide to augment my knowledge to these areas rather than merely focusing on manufacturing.
During my work experience at , I was fortunate enough to have experienced firsthand and learned, many different sides of what goes into a project, the general process of how a project is initially planned, developed and completed; as well as how much work and detail goes into every stage. Another valuable lesson I have learned during these 12 weeks, were the many different types of work an Engineer has to perform, which in turn, have provided me with more insight into the different types of roles and responsibilities that I could perform, as a Civil Engineer.
Electrical engineering is the major that I am pursuing during my college career. I decided to pursue this major because it is a career, which requires knowledge in other subjects, it is a career, which changes often, and everyday it provides a person with new problems to solve.
... of matters confronting engineers. I believe that an electrical engineer must choose how to advance when the impact of new machinery is not completely predictable or understood. As an engineer, you have a pressing desire to extend our biological capabilities and address the burgeoning needs for energy, water, housing, transportation, etc. This desire, I believe, could result in a flawed sense of security about the functionality of a machine. This could further result in ignoring possible repercussions and side effects. Overtime, we have seen a myriad of engineering catastrophes like Hurricane Katrina and the New Orleans Levee system and the Fukushima Reactor Meltdown. These examples enlighten me to the fact that I must pay critical attention to how my work as an engineer must be done without producing environmental alterations or harm to the society and environment.
There are hundreds of occupation around the world, few of which anyone would want to do. Being an electrician is one of them. Electrician keep lighting, electrical system around a building and generator working. Being an electrician can also be dangerous. You can die if you get Electrocuted by touching cables that have running current through them.
After completion of my masters, I intend to become a part of a reputed firm in India. I believe the experience that I will gain in the field will assist me significantly to become a better Professional.
In conclusion, civil engineers have a responsibility to deal with current issues in a professional and ethical manner for the benefit of society. The topics discusses included: high energy consumption of buildings, the need for efficient water resources, transportation planning, poor infrastructures doomed to failure, the need to have higher standards to become a licensed professional engineer, how globalization has affected all engineers, and the need to have more professional use advance engineering informatics. All these subjects were pondered about how these challenges can be overcome are there effective methods that engineers can apply today. Unfortunately, not all problems are easy to handle.
Engineers are valuable assets to any company because they think analytically. Engineers may advance to become technical specialists or to supervise a staff or team of engineers and technicians. Some eventually become engineering managers or enter other managerial or sales jobs.
Electrical engineering arose in the late 1800s and was heavily influenced by the work of many pioneers such as Nikola Tesla, Thomas Edison, and George Westinghouse. These inventors contributed greatly to the work in which electricity could be efficiently produced, distributed and used to improve society in a big way. Electrical engineering is a form of science that specializes in the study of electricity, electromagnetism, and electromechanical devices. Mathematics is the common language that is used to describe the theories and principles that are in this field, also electrical engineers need to be able to navigate their way through equations that describe the laws and concepts of electrical engineering in order to solve complex problems.
