Jesus educated Nicodemus, that to enter into the Kingdom of God, one must be born again. He explains that a man must be first born of the flesh, and then of the Spirit. Jesus taught to this man, a Pharisee and a great learned man, that to enter into the Kingdom of heaven, one must be born a second time, a spiritual birth must commence. An event must take place, which ignites life in the dead and separated spirit of the human, and brings them from a state of un-life, to life.

He reminded the man of the events recorded in the Torah, where the Jews in the wilderness were murmuring against Moses and Aaron, and God sent vipers into the camp to punish the people. The vipers were deadly and the venom, would kill the bitten over time, following a period of suffering and pain. During this time, the people called unto Moses for salvation. “Save us” we were wrong to speak against the man of God. God then having mercy of the people in their state of sinfulness, and cries of need, instructed Moses to craft a serpent on a staff, and lift it up in the center of the camp. Jesus clarified that there is no law one must follow to be saved, there is no rule one must obey to be saved. Jesus told this man that because of God’s love of every man, and every person in the world, he sent his son to die on the cross to take away the sins of the world, he so deeply loved.
