I learned those vocabularies by understanding the whole sentence that includes this vocabulary first, and then I looked up for it in a dictionary to understand the exact meaning. Also, I looked for pictures which would make this new word stick in my brain. Furthermore, I tried to use that new word in my life and practice its spelling many times. Actually, some of them I didn’t need to practice their spelling because they are easy to remember, but the most important thing for me is to use them in my life.
Instructor’s feedback is very important to me because it shows where my weaknesses are and to learn from my mistakes “opportunities” to prevent do them again. I’ve learned how to write a long sentence with phrase before subject and extra information.

For me, things are different. I put my goals in two categories and in each category I set the most priority and the less priority and so on. The two categories are personal goals and career or educational goals. When a will achieve my career or educational goal, one of my personal goal would be easily to fulfill. For example, one of my personal goals is to find a better home to move in and that wouldn’t be happened without getting my degree and find a better job. Another personal objective is to be a mom that all my family will proud of and that needs to work hard to be in a good place to make them proud of me. The third personal dream is to speak English fluently and write professionally and I have to study hard to do that. All my goals are connected and I cannot stop dreaming and have new …show more content…
The first book I read was Gandhi and it was level 3 which it wasn’t so difficult, but it was interested and made me like to read more and more. I read about Gandhi’s life before, but in Arabic and it was great to read in a different language which could show you how much you comprehended. Dr. Eliana Santana suggested going up one level or more and I chose Romeo and Juliet level 4, which I read it before also. This play has a lot of vocabulary and phrases which helped me a lot to understand many articles later. After that, I read Oliver Twist level 6, which it has a lot of expressions and strong structure that would make you think in a different way. For me, the purpose of reading wasn’t only to learn new vocabulary, but it was the way to learn when to use some expressions and phrases, how to use some words, how to read without stopping like to learn in your language, and for entertainment. We have a joke about writing common words but in wrong spelling, but your brain could still read it without stopping or noticing that there was something wrong. That because we used to see and read these words which make our brain recognize them instantly. I’m practicing and reading to make my brain familiar with the words, so I can read fast. Also, when I read, I imagine how the characters look like, how the environment and places
“One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.” These were the words from one of the greatest authors of all time, Dr. Seuss, that sprouted the enjoyment of reading. I was a young lad when I first started looking at words, and although I could not understand them, I knew they had some significant meaning to them. Reading played a huge role in my life, and it all started when my mom read books to me as a baby, when I first read a book for myself, and, of course, when I was required to read at school.
Throughout the semester I have learned an astounding amount of information. The English 101 curriculum has not only taught me how to write in general, but also taught me a variety of ways to get my point across to the reader. Before I took English 101 I was an average writer at best, but now that I am taking a class that focuses on writing strategies I feel that I have been able to improve as a writer. During the course we were taught how to write an informative essay as well as how to write a persuasive essay. The type of writing that this class has taught me will most definitely help me with future classes as well as my future in the real world. Throughout the English 101 course I have been able to improve as a writer by composing essays
Reading to understand means that I use my common knowledge and experiences to help me understand the text. Although I am not the smartest person in the world, I know at least a little something that can be applied to my reading pattern. For about every paragraph I read in a book, I have some random quote, or quite often a hilarious memory in the back of my mind. For instance, everytime the topic of slavery is mentioned in the book Beloved by Toni Morrison, I always think of history classes and what I have learned that relates to the text.
Reading is an essential element in our everyday lives. What was the first thing that you learned in school? It was the ability to read. Exercising that ability by reading voluntarily keeps our minds active when we’re out of school. It is a supplement to our minds. The more you read, the more you know!
Throughout my high school career, I have had instructors that shaped my writing tremendously with their feedback. The teacher’s opinion truly matters to me and helps me develop my writing skills even further. A writer should have an open mind.
Other goals i have are being able to stay financially stable, have fun, and enjoying life while knowing i have priorities. I will achieve the goal of having a career in cosmetology by starting to look at different colleges in cosmetology and start looking more into the different ways of hair and makeup, pedicures and other stuff. Also in order to be financially stable i will watch how i spend my money and what i spend my money on. Having fun and enjoying while having priorities is something i want to do because you only live once but then also you can’t play around too much that you mess up and ruin your goals and plans. So having priorities for me is just knowing when you went to far and what to watch out
Throughout my life I have set many goals for myself. Each goal is a small step towards achieving my idea of the American Dream. Every person in America has their own idea or version of what the American Dream is. To me, an American Dream is something that we can all achieve, but it will take a lot of hard work in order for us to be successful. Certain people will dream of happiness and others might dream of wealth, but I believe the dream that I want to achieve is something more meaningful than those things. Three post-high-school goals that embody my idea of the American Dream is attending College of the Ozarks to further my education, own a well managed farm, and in the future, I would like to have a nice house and a family. Each of these
I read because it brings me pleasure and because I never want to stop learning. Recently I have been reading a lot of multicultural women's literature and Victorian medical textbooks.
Mason Cooley says about reading “Reading gives us some place to go when we have to stay where we are .” Reading is like a journey you can take when you want to go somewhere. Everyone always wants to imagine they are in the journey with the character in the book. When the story is over the person that is reading never wants to leave the journey. Everyone starts a new journey when they open a new book to read. Sometimes people who read don’t have a journey with the character; they just want to read because they don’t have anything else to do. For me reading is really fun to do.
In the article 10 Benefits of Reading, the author Lana Winter-Hebert of Lifehack.org explained why reading is a mental exercise and can improve your mental ability. My reading habits are fairly frequent. I read a lot of magazines and online articles, but I never miss out on a good novel. The atmosphere of a bookstore or library is so comfortable and that drives me to read more, too. I am currently reading two books; The Name of This Book is Secret and If I Should Die Before I Wake. Considering I am constantly reading as recreation or school-wise, I think I read enough.
At the age of three I was able to read the television guide to communicate to my parents on what show I wanted to watch. They did not believe I was capable of this at first, but I continued to this and they were in awe. In junior kindergarten my teacher was pleasantly surprised on how well I could read, and how much I enjoyed reading and explained to my parents how I was reading at a grade 2 level at the age of 4. This early involvement in my literature journey and this early introduction to reading made me enjoy reading, and enjoy learning, which continued on into my early elementary school
Reading and books became a real struggle for me from elementary all the way to high school because I found it hard to comprehend the books that I was made to read. These books were not interesting to me and I found myself starring at pages for hours at a time and would not know or understand what I read.
Although I have many goals in life, two stick out to me the most. They stick out in every decision I make and they help me form good decisions. What I want most importantly in life is to become a pharmacist and to create a family with someone I love. I want the family most importantly because I was raised in a very tight Greek family. I want to raise my kids in that tight Greek family as well. Becoming a pharmacist is also a very important goal because I want stability in my job so that I can raise my family without major money issues. I also think it is very important for people to be healthy so that job would allow me to provide health care.
Feedback should be communicated in language that is understandable for the learner, have a genuine purpose, and be significant for the individual needs of each student. Through feedback, teachers can provide the students with suggestions for development, learning strategies, and corrections for errors.
My goals in life are ultimately to achieve success in life. My goals are to also have happiness, prosperity in every area in my life, and the freedom and peace within to be able to carry out my goals. My goals are also heavily influenced on the hardships my parents have had to endure such as facing ridicule for the simple fact of being immigrants, the extremely difficult time they endured due to unemployment and living in poverty, and the low degree of education they received from their countries. My goals are so important to me because I view it as way out of barely getting by, out of a harder life. My goals consist of me being the first person on my mother 's side to ever graduate from middle and high school. My goals also consist of making my parents proud of their daughter, a daughter that will give them a more comfortable life, one that is not filled with such pain. After seeing my mother suffer from a liver infection which caused her to become sick to the point of hospitalization, I promised myself that day I never wanted anyone to feel as sick as my mother did. No one deserves to go through that much suffering. My dream and passion is to study Biology at the GREAT Bethune- Cookman University and to be a doctor who will not only help my community here in America but also for my families in
