Health is a very important part of our life, however many of us don’t realize that. For this assignment, I have collected information from different family members including those who either had health issues, or directly knew those with health issues. This assignment is very important and relevant for this class, as it is the midterm and counts towards my final class grade. Not only that, but this assignment will also help me learn about the health issues present in my family. Additionally, it will help me evaluate myself. From a very young age, I’ve been in love with sweets and junk food. Healthy food has never been something I like because it just doesn 't have that taste which sweets and junk foods have. However, I have realized that this bad habit of consuming large amounts of sweets and not …show more content…
This has affected my physical health, and has caused me to feel uncomfortable around too many people, thus negatively affecting my social health as well. In addition to that, my anxiety, sudden changes in mood, or mood swings, and stress management issues have had an effect on my emotional health, as well as my physical health. Not being able to manage stress the proper way, leads to headaches and the consumption of food. In regards to my environmental health, the pollution in the air contributes to the sickness, viruses, and my allergies, which affects my physical health, causing headaches and weakness. Furthermore, I have a bad habit of nail biting, which is very harmful to my health because the germs from the nails travel to the mouth and the stomach. This can cause
In the essay “Her Chee-to Heart”, by Jill McCorkle, she discusses about the various difficulties she has encountered of being a junk-food junkie and the struggles of overcoming the guilty pleasures of junk food. Firstly, one of the many difficulties she encounters are her feelings, which ultimately overwhelm her into continuing to eat various types of junk foods. Her feelings of nostalgic memories when consuming such goods as a child, the enjoyment and the savory tastes it grants her, are constantly mentioned throughout the essay, directly contributing a major factor into her desires of junk food. Furthermore, while she is quite aware of the consequences regarding the health side effects of consuming such foods and what the food is ultimately

A family assessment is a process for gathering and organizing information in ways that can help a family prevent and or solve problems. The goal is to obtain a full understanding and unbiased view of the strengths and problems. A good assessment is about relationship building, engaging families in an exploration of their strengths, values and goals to build mutual trust and respect. Then when problems do arise, this relationship can be the foundation of open communication allowing the doors to open for identification of additional supports needed to reduce or eliminate the factors causing harm.
The following essay is a reflective paper on an event that I encountered as a student nurse during my first clinical placement in my first year of study. The event took place in a long term facility. This reflection is about the patient whom I will call Mrs. D. to protect her confidentiality. Throughout this essay I will be using LEARN model of reflection. I have decided to reflect on the event described in this essay since I believe that it highlights the need for nurses to have effective vital signs ‘assessment skills especially when treating older patients with complex medical diagnoses.
Probably some of the most pleasurable and enjoyable memories of a person has to do with sweets. When thinking back to birthdays, there is always the memory of the wonderful cake that mother beautifully made and decorated with frosting and glazes. A typical night out with dad can be transformed into a magical evening with a trip to the ice cream parlor. The end of a fantastic Thanksgiving dinner turns heavenly when a hot apple pie is brought to the table and topped with delicious, melting vanilla ice cream. A good wedding is never complete without the cutting of the splendid multi-level wedding cake, when the happy new couple gets to playfully shove and smear cake and white frosting into each other’s smiling faces. Everyone knows that as a child, the only good part about going to the dentist is getting the candy bar at the end of the visit. Why do some people get sick after eating too much suger? Some people do not even know that the abuse of sugar can lead to negative effects on your body. There is something strangely enjoyable and resplendent about the consumption of sugar. Why is it that sugar is so deliciously enjoyable and at the same time a food product that has many negative affects on people’s health?

In this paper, I will be discussing my family health history as illustrated in the disease family tree. What is family health history? Family health history refers to a collection of information about diseases that run in your family, as well as the eating habits, activities, and environments that your family shares. The knowledge about diseases in your family can help you make healthy choices. One’s family history can affect one’s health in different ways since we inherit many things from our parents and grandparents; genes passed on to you from your parents can determine your health. Some genes can increase one’s chances of developing certain diseases but it can also depend on the type of environment, life style or behavior, geographical
The WHO definition of non-medical determinants of health is: “… the conditions in which people are born, grow, work, live, and age, and the wider set of forces and systems shaping the conditions of daily life. Even if junk food does not result in obesity for some people, which is classified as being 20% over the ideal body weight (Castledine, 2004), the regular consumption of junk food can still lead to disconcerting health problems such as the common stomach ache and head ache, which can impede on every day activities. Another short-term effect of eating junk food is the sugar crash, which commonly happens after eating snacks with nearly half their calories coming from sugar adding up to 200 or more calories (Risher, 2010). Eating junk food that is high in sugars and carbohydrates provides a temporary mood and energy boost, caused by a rapid production of insulin, but results in a drop in glucose levels, known as a sugar crash, which many people compare to the feeling of a hangover (Reid, 2014). Both the long-term effects and short-term effects of eating junk food impacts the body in such a way that impedes the performance of everyday activities and
