Reflecting the Image of God as a Project Manager
Mankind was created in the image of God as confirmed in Genesis 1:27, “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” (NIV). God has revealed much about Himself in the Scripture and, as Christians, we need to study the Word of the Lord and apply what we learn about the characteristics and qualities of God to our daily lives. Being made in the image of Christ should be reflected in our worldview and affect all aspects of our lives, including how we conduct ourselves in our chosen professions. “The image of God, therefore, includes both who man is and what man does.” (Closson, 2016).

The manner in which the Project Manager treats employees is a reflection of who they are but also sets the example of how each employee should treat one another. According to David Closson, as Christians waiting for Christ’s return, we should “endeavor to treat people made in God’s image with dignity and respect irrespective of gender, race, age, nationality or economic status.” (2016). He references Matthew 25:40 as confirmation of this commandment, “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” …show more content…
The image of God includes a moral aspect and, as a result, “every man possesses an innate sense of right and wrong, or a moral law.” (Towns, 2002). Project managers must be mindful of this when making decisions and choose to do what is right even if pressured by management to do otherwise. Several verses in the Bible address this such as Romans 12:2 which states, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Hill points out that all of these topics are in today’s business market. They should be addressed and recognized by Christians today. For most people, their work is a key factor in their self-worth, family esteem and identity. Workplace ethics and behavior are a central part of employment, as both are aspects that can help assist a business in its efforts to be gainful. Every business in every industry has certain guidelines and procedures to which its employees must follow. We must always remember that no matter who you are, where you come from, or where you are going, you are no better than the next person, when it comes to making mistakes and sinning. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth (Genesis1:1.) God’s perfect wisdom created everything. In Genesis 1 and 2 we can see that God has loving and gentile nature when He created the earth and heavens. God created man in his image and we are the only creation that God breathed in the breath of life for human beings (Genesis 2:7). God did not do this for any of other creations but only for humans. The Bible has many scriptures that tell us how creative God is. Genesis 1;26 states “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” God created all of this for us to have fellowship with him.
We were designed for one purpose, to honor and love our creator (Matthew 6:24). When we look at ourselves, and others we find that we each have individual humanistic characteristics. Each with different thoughts of how we perceive God and what we think he wants from us. By using our talents and gifts wisely and just we are giving praise back to our creator (1 Timothy 6:17).
"So god created man in his own image, in the image of god he created
2 Corinthians 3:18 states, “And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” God transforms Christians into His likeness. Genesis 1:27 reveals that, in the Garden, we were completely in His likeness: “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” To the artist, in the image of God means something different than what is often taught in Sunday schools. According to Sayers, “Is it his immortal soul, his rationality, his self-consciousness, his free will, or what, that gives him a claim to this rather startling distinction? . . . Looking at man, he sees in him something essentially divine, but when we turn back to see what he says about the original upon which the ‘image’ of God was modeled, we find only the single assertion, ‘God created’. The characteristic common to God and man is that: the desire and the ability to make things” (Sayers 17). The artist, like God, creates something out of nothing. But, there is an important distinction between something beautiful and poetic and something shoddy and cheap.
God, God is able to relate to man. Nothing else was made in the image
The project manager is the key person responsible for the overall project and serves as the steering mechanism for the project team (Cornell Project Management Methodology, n.d.). In order to become an effective project manager, there are certain skill sets that are required to set one on a path to project management. Organizations like the Project Management Institute serve as the conduit for training and certifying project managers.
We as Christians are sons and daughters of God, but we are created in the image of Christ, like a statue is made of a man. Lewis goes onto give many different examples of this such as, a man who creates
of the Bible, Genesis, we are told we are 'made in the image of God'
Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” A man is a triune being composed of body, soul, and spirit who reflects the Holy Trinity of God, the Father, and the Holy Sprit. The Bible states in 1 Thessalonians 5:23, “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” This verse of scripture reveals that man has a spiritual nature that is separate from the body in which he dwells. Sister Roy believes that man is a whole being composed of parts or subsystems that all work together for a common purpose. Man has a shared relationship with God and the world (Alligood and Tomey 2010, 341-342). The Bible declares in Isaiah 43:7, “ Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.” A man’s ultimate purpose on the earth is to glorify God through his

In all creation, we human beings alone are the image and likeness of God. We can reflect, love, create, and most importantly, worship the One whose image we bear. God has given us stewardship over creation to develop a rich and godly culture that benefits others and honors God. Art and science, work and play, marriage and family, church and state are our gifts and tasks. God has crowned us with glory and majesty (Psalm 8: 5).
Understanding what it is for man to be made in the image of God is essential to understanding the role a pastor is to fill. The Image of God refers to
In the beginning of the Bible in the Book of Genesis, it is revealed to use in 1:26-27 that God has created man in his image. The text verbatim states “Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” From this distinct text we can clearly conclude that when ad created man and woman, they were destined to be in God’s image and carry his image throughout his creation. Today we can see that many of us do not live in God’s image due to society becoming more secularized as it progresses through the years, however as Christians we can verse this by living in God’s image in our chosen vocations, churches, and even in the secular world.
I have also been able to understand the responsibility of a project manager in bringing the people from different functional areas with specific skills to meet the project goals and objectives within the desired time. Even though, a project manager doesn’t have HR authority unless the project manager is a functional manger or in a projectized organization.
