As you may have already guessed, the Red Eared Slider Turtle has derived its name from its bright scarlet ears which are its distinguishing features and set it apart from its other "slider" cousins. There are many reasons why the red eared slider turtle is the most popular pick among pet turtles.
It is pretty tame and mild-mannered in captivity, has a tolerant nature, can adapt to a variety of conditions, lives for very long periods, has very modest demands, is slow-moving, calm natured, quiet and pretty hardy if you provide it with its appropriate natural habitat.
It is a fresh water turtle species which happens to be a prolific breeder. Its several eye-catching lovely morphs are leucistic, pastel and albino.

found in large numbers in the states of Florida to Virginia, west of Kansas, New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma. These are their natural habitats. However, they are also found all over the world through human intervention and introduction. There are 14 different kinds of Red Eared Slider Turtle (Trachemys) that can be found in the wildernesses of South America and Central America. Status Like most other turtles, the Red Eared Slider Turtle has been named by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. However, it is at lower risk of extinction than the Olive Ridley species of turtle that is highly endangered. Availability You can find them in online stores, at reptile shows, and pet stores.
They are very common and popular. You will need a proper and suitable setup to provide the turtle with a natural habitat where it can survive. That can set you back by quite a few hundred dollars, but the breed itself is extremely inexpensive.
Medical Problems
Don't huddle too many turtles together in a small tub or tank filled with stale, unclean, bacteria-ridden water that is not aerated because it will lead to dermatological infections, shell infections, and ear abscesses.
When these problems occur, the first thing to do is to remove the Red Eared Slider Turtle from the polluted water, dry and clean the affected areas and apply Betadine and Silvadene cream on those areas.
Let the turtle dry itself on a warm towel for a good number of hours before you return it to clean, bacteria-fee, healthy water. This process has to be repeated daily for 7 days or until the wounds heal.
Handling
The Red Eared Slider Turtle will let you touch it and handle it at times, eat food out of your hand, and swim up to you. Their curious natures come to the forefront during these times and they will observe everyone with bursting curiosity hoping for
treats.
In the Grapes of Wrath, a novel by John Steinbeck, there are many examples of symbolism. One of the most prominent symbols found in this book is the turtle seen in chapter three. This turtle is symbolic of three things: the Joads and their journey west, Tom Joad himself, and the promise of new life. First, here’s a little background information on the turtle. This land turtle was somewhere to go. Where than is, no one knows, except perhaps John Steinbeck. To get there the turtle decides to take the perilous journey down a dusty dirt road that stretches along the quiet countryside. What could happen? A lot more than one might think. In fact, the turtle faces quite a few challenged ranging from pesky insects, to ledges, to even cars. But, the thing that makes this turtle special is that he never gives up (Pages
Throughout the animal kingdom, adaptations take place continuously and even the smallest of changes can leave a significant impact. Examples can be seen within any plant or animal. One example would include sea turtles, specifically, the Loggerhead Turtles. These turtles are native to the Indian, Atlantic, and Pacific Oceans as well as the Mediterranean Sea (Deurmit L 2007). They thrive in either temperate or tropical climates and can live in a myriad of biomes (Deurmit L 2007). These biomes include the pelagic, reef, coastal, and brackish water (Deurmit L 2007). Loggerhead turtles are omnivores and can eat anything from insects to aquatic crustaceans, to macro algae (Deurmit L 2007). According to Deurmit (2007) Caretta caretta is classified into Animalia Kingdom, Chordata Phylum, Vertebrata Subphylum, Reptilian Class, Testudines’ Order,
Native American Legends are Great Spirit that are the basis of Indian theory. Many differ from how the earth was created to how humans were made. Each story shows how the worlds, traditions, and beliefs came to earth. The Earths on Turtles Back, When Grizzly Walked up right, and The Navajo Origin Legend, all show the attitudes and traditions native americans created.
“Myths can be described as sacred tales that help man understand the world and his place in it. Myths often try to respond to various eternal questions, such as the origin of the existence of evil, and also, through the archetypes that they provide, seem to give guidance to every generation,” as an Access teacher states, on enotes.com. During one’s education, grammar school through college, we fortunately get the opportunity to be exposed to countless myths and also numerous mythological creatures that we have never heard of before. Personally it was quite the challenge to relate some of these mythological tales into my own life. We don’t usually realize or understand, at that exact time of hearing or reading the creation myth, their drive

Turtles are reptiles of the order Testudines, characterized by a special bony or cartilaginous shell developed from their ribs that acts as a shield (Turtle). This reptile is the object in Kay Ryan’s poem entitled “Turtle”. Kay Ryan makes a remarkable observation of a turtle. Along with her observation is the relation of a turtle’s daily life to the life of a human being. Despite the heavy shell that it carries around, the turtle proves to be a very strong animal because it never chooses to give up on the load that it carries, and when the readers face complexities in life, they must adapt the attitude that the turtle possesses.
The Blanding’s turtle is identified by its unique appearance. Its top shell is a round, dome shape unlike other turtle species. The top shell is black with characteristic yellow or tan spots, and the under shell is a light yellow with characteristic brown spots. The neck and throat are a bright yellow, making it easy to identify from other turtles species. Adult males can reach lengths of 11 inches, and females can reach lengths of 8.5 inches. They are relatively medium-sized, and often nicknamed the “semi-box” turtle because they are physically similar to the box turtle.
Introduction Caretta caretta, otherwise known as the Loggerhead Sea Turtle, is an oceanic turtle that exist throughout the globe. They are circumtropical species (LeBlanc et al. 2014) meaning they are distributed throughout temperate and tropical ocean regions, but most abundant species are found in the United States coastal range. Loggerheads largest nesting aggregations in the Atlantic are found along the southeastern United States coastal range where about 80% of all nesting occurs and 90% of all hatchlings are produced (Abecassis et al. 2013).
Leatherback, hawksbill, and loggerhead are sea turtles which are any of two families Cheloniidae and Dermochelyidae defined by feet modified into paddles for swimming. Sea turtles, as the name implies, live in the sea; however, they swim to land to lay there eggs. When an egg hatches the baby turtle waddles across the sand to the sea where it will spend almost all of its life.

These basking rocks, or even floating cork for younger turtles, are very important, they have to have a place to bask and get out of the water. Yet if you decide to keep it outside be sure to provide a place to bask, plenty of water, filters, and a covering so other predators can not harm or eat your turtle. Equipment will be different for indoors or outdoors. If you keep your turtle indoors be sure that it can occasionally get fresh air and sun light, but do not keep an aquarium next to a window! Also, make sure your aquarium or pond is clean, this is extremely important to maintain good health for the turtle and provides them with a clean habitat.

I will be talking about hedgehogs, and what they are, and along with what they do. First, hHedgehogs are mammals that are native to Europe, Asia, and Africa. There are some fifteen species of hedgehogs in these listed countries, says National Geographic (nN.dD.). Hedgehogs have also been introduced into nontraditional ranges such as New Zealand.

Animals all around the world are being taken forcefully from their habitats and kept as cool exotic pets. I chose this topic because I believe that exotic animals shouldn’t be kept as pets. Exotic animals are very important to nature and food chains all around the world, if we keep taking them and in some cases killing them, those food chains can and will crash. Millions of animals will die. Today I am going to try and persuade you that exotic animals should not be kept as pets.
