In this essay it will be about turtles. The turtle that is going to be discussed is the red-Cooter turtles. When we went to Venetians Garden I wanted to do turtles and kept looking for them. Overall I was worried what I was going to do but decided on turtles. Where we went there was some trash in the water depending whether it was under the bridge or the pond. It will have the results, methods, introduction about the project that I doing. On the planet, there are hundreds of thousands of different species of animals. Turtles, being in the reptilian family of the animal kingdom, are thought to have only two types of species. These types are land and water turtles. However, this is not true. For example, having observed “Turtles unlimited” (iNaturalist, 2015), which is a research project that specializes in reptilian behavior and habitat of turtles, people will come to realize the importance of the different types of turtle species currently observable (U.S. Fish Wildlife Service, 2011). In Florida, there are over twenty types of species that exist today. For example, people, like this researcher, can observe the red-bellied Cooter turtles. Florida is known for its amazing wildlife, but it is also known for its growing human population. With all the trash in Venetians Gardens, it is an environmental …show more content…
At venetian gardens park when walking around there are a lot of animals that you can found like turtles, gators, snakes and other types of animals. The White Ibis was amazing to see and there are so many of them that were in the grass or walking around the park. It was fun seeing all the species of animals there. Doing iNaturalist was fun and being able to see a lot of different types of animals and species was something you will never forget. The sounds from all the animals is something you will never forget because hearing them communicate is good to know how many birds communicate with each
Everyone loves the Florida manatee because they look like big puppy dogs with a cute endless smile. In addition, they are beautiful creatures that bring a smile to every face that sees them floating along in their natural habitat or in the local aquarium. Undoubtedly, the Florida manatee is one of the friendliest species in the world even though they are huge animals weighing up to twelve hundred pounds and reaching ten-foot long. Despite what this gentle creature has been through at the hands of human beings, the Florida manatee looks as happy as ever when they are sighted feeding in their natural environment. However, the manatee population is being threatened and needs help to prevent further decline. The reduction in the Florida manatee

In the Grapes of Wrath, a novel by John Steinbeck, there are many examples of symbolism. One of the most prominent symbols found in this book is the turtle seen in chapter three. This turtle is symbolic of three things: the Joads and their journey west, Tom Joad himself, and the promise of new life. First, here’s a little background information on the turtle. This land turtle was somewhere to go. Where than is, no one knows, except perhaps John Steinbeck. To get there the turtle decides to take the perilous journey down a dusty dirt road that stretches along the quiet countryside. What could happen? A lot more than one might think. In fact, the turtle faces quite a few challenged ranging from pesky insects, to ledges, to even cars. But, the thing that makes this turtle special is that he never gives up (Pages
Throughout the animal kingdom, adaptations take place continuously and even the smallest of changes can leave a significant impact. Examples can be seen within any plant or animal. One example would include sea turtles, specifically, the Loggerhead Turtles. These turtles are native to the Indian, Atlantic, and Pacific Oceans as well as the Mediterranean Sea (Deurmit L 2007). They thrive in either temperate or tropical climates and can live in a myriad of biomes (Deurmit L 2007). These biomes include the pelagic, reef, coastal, and brackish water (Deurmit L 2007). Loggerhead turtles are omnivores and can eat anything from insects to aquatic crustaceans, to macro algae (Deurmit L 2007). According to Deurmit (2007) Caretta caretta is classified into Animalia Kingdom, Chordata Phylum, Vertebrata Subphylum, Reptilian Class, Testudines’ Order,
The efforts taking place through different conservation organizations and the State of Florida are making a mixed impact on the survival of Manatees and Sea Turtles. The decline in manatee population has decreased, but due to low reproduction rates, more needs to be done to avoid extinction. The sea turtle outlook is more species specific. Some species of turtle are seeing stabilization in population, while others are not. The State of Florida has a large array of custom license tags that support the conservation efforts taking place within the State. The proceeds go to benefit the local marine life in Florida. With financial resources, state and local cooperation, and through constant research and observation, we are able to learn more about both of these gentle animals. With human awareness of those living in Florida, these two animals will survive
As you may have already guessed, the Red Eared Slider Turtle has derived its name from its bright scarlet ears which are its distinguishing features and set it apart from its other "slider" cousins. There are many reasons why the red eared slider turtle is the most popular pick among pet turtles.
The poem Mark O’Connor wrote “Turtles Hatching” at a time in his life when was closely studying nature.

Turtles have been around for about 230 million years (Dobbs 1). In that time, they have seen the rise and fall of the dinosaurs and the rise of mankind. Marine turtles have been around for about 65 million years (Dobbs 1). This family has withstood the test of time and is being threatened by human’s impact on the sea. All six of the marine turtles occurring on the shores of America are at least threatened. Marine turtles are very important to the ecosystem but humans are endangering this family directly and indirectly; if humans do not stop their destructive habits, we may lose the influence of marine turtles on the earth’s seas.
The range-wide population of manatees is assumed to be at least 13,000, with more than 6,500 in the southeastern United States and Puerto Rico. There was “aerial surveys” that began in 1991. Info from the survey stated it was an estimation of 1,267 manatees in Florida. Today there are more than 6,300 in Florida, indicating a major increase over the last 25 years. The Conservation Commission (FWC)” recently led two natural status reviews of the Florida manatee that involved complete collection and mixture of population and range data; along with a wide spread display of population projections (FWC 2002, 2003; Haubold et al. 2006). Enduring studies of the Florida manatee show that there are four separate regional subpopulations, as
For some people seeing a white-tail deer is magnificent. In Key West they have key deer. I doubt that in New York your going to wake up first thing and see a deer. The Canyon has many animals, including woodpeckers, wild turkey, warblers, armadillos, raccoons, red foxes, and red squirrels. The animals I have listed are all in the park. You may want to walk down the clearly marked trails by yourself or you could ask a park ranger to take you on a tour. You even can camp overnight at designated camping spots. When you want to hike you can trek up the sides to the top and gets an almost bird's eye view. When you go back down everything will seem and a lot
The Florida Manatee’s popular marine species in the tropical environment of Florida are currently considered an “endangered species”. The ecology (the relationships between living organisms and their interactions with their natural or developed environment), for the manatee (trichechus manatus), requires and is generally restricted to the inland and coastal waters of peninsular Florida during the winter, when they shelter in and/or near warm-water springs, heated industrial effluents, and other warm water sites (as stated in Research Gate (1997) Hartman 1979, Lefebvre et al). The Florida (West Indian) Manatee, An Endangered Species, has no known predators other than humans; in the past, humans hunted
In this study, the effect of temperature on yellow-bellied slider turtle (Trachemys scripta scripta) reproductive rates will be measured. The experiment will be controlled in a laboratory setting to determine whether either higher or lower temperatures will cause the reproductive rates of the turtle to increase or decrease. Reproductive rate, according to Pianka (1997), is defined as “average number of age class zero offspring produced by an average newborn organism during its entire lifetime.” This is important as the number of offspring produced by the species determines the growth of the population.
The hawksbill is quite a peculiar name, but makes complete sense after it’s explained. The mouth of these turtles is narrow and pointed resembling a beak, hence the name hawksbill (Hawksbill Turtle). The hawksbill sea turtle is a stunning, tropical turtle with many interesting habits and characteristics.
Fresh Water turtles are small, yet amazing creatures to have and care for in your home. River Cooters, Red Eared Sliders, and Painted turtles are all common pet’s found in America. Though turtles are fun to have around they do require special care just like any other pet would. In most cases they make great pets but turtles aren’t the easiest pets to have so depending on your lifestyle you should think about how much time you’re willing to put into a turtle. They are usually cheap to buy yet the equipment for your turtle can get expensive. Along with cost you must find the time to put into this pet. They need nice set ups to live in as well as attention and proper handling.
