Red carnation is often embroidered as part of national costume. National folk song clearly states symbol od red carnation: love and blood as a symbol of life so it was often given to young women from men. Carnation together with heart is esential element of Slovenian national decor. You can find it on bonnet, farmhouse stoves, and embroidered on traditional tablecloths.

The Ljubljana dragon may have its origins in the legend of Jason and the Argonauts. Greek hero Jason and his Argonaut comrades stole a golden fleece. On getaway they found themselves at the River Danube instead of going to their homeland Greece. They went on, up the Danube, Sava and stop at the source of the Ljubljanica and overwintered here. In spring took the boat Argo apart and carried it on their shoulders to the Adriatic coast. On their way near Ljubljana, the Argonauts came across a large marsh lake where lived a terrible dragon. Jason killed it after a heroic struggle.
But there are other stories about Ljubljana dragon. According to frescoes and statues St.George is often seen standing or riding while killing the dragon with a spear.
