The main similarity between recreational therapy and athletic training is that they both deal with the improvement of a patients/person’s well-being. They both spend a majority of time working one-on-one with patients. This even applies for an athletic trainer who is working for a sports team. The trainer is still working individually with the athletes to improve their overall performance. One of my greatest strengths pertaining to education is my ability to complete my work in a timely matter. I only turned in late work at least two times in my high school career. Another strength I possess is being a respectful, erudite student. I can understand the lessons quickly and listen to my teacher in a considerate manner. Although one can discuss their strengths indefinitely, weaknesses must be told to understand a person. One of my main shortcomings is public speaking. I find it hard to present myself in front of a large group of people. Once I begin to know my peers, it is easier for me to speak in front of them during
I find occupational therapy to pique my drive to teach people valuable life skills as well as learn from those people and their experiences. Being an occupational therapist would allow me to have one-on-one interactions with patients and establish meaningful relationships over the course of time. It would also give me the dutiful privilege and responsibility of instilling confidence in others and helping them realize their full potential in self-suffiency. All of my personal experiences, challenges, educational backgrounds, and professional interactions have guided me toward pursuing my goals of gaining experience working in all populations, enabling patients to thrive in their daily lifestyle, and spread public awareness of what OT has

This definition will mainly focus on health and use the Health Promotion Model to further explain my choice to focus on health and well-being. From a young age I was interested in the medical field. As I became more exposed to the various options, I decided physical therapy was the right career for me. My experience has proved the field to be interesting and fun. I enjoy working with people and the versatility of therapy. There are many areas to specialize in and I look forward to learning which one is right for me. At the moment I am interested in pediatric acute care but I am also interested in sports and orthopedics. As I continue my studies, I look forward to learning about the different fields in which physical therapy will take me. My future views may change which physical therapy field I wish to pursue, but right now I look forward to learning as much as I can about physical therapy and helping others.
Although I have been able to improve and grow in my critical thinking throughout the semester, I still need to practice throughout the rest of my time at Dominican University. I hope to improve my critical thinking skills, specifically in my future English 102 class, as well as in any other classes where I am required to write essays. When looking at the leadership aspect of being a Dominican Educator, I need to improve my public speaking skills. Even though I accept the responsibilities of being a future educator, I must progress in my confidence. Through increasing my confidence, it will allow public speaking to become less challenging. The way I hope to improve my public speaking skills is by taking workshops on leadership and public speaking. Also, I will attempt to take opportunities that allow me to public speak because the further I practice, the less nervous I will become as time goes on. Lastly, when considering the aspect of a person of service, I hope to progress my professional behavior. When having to teach the micro-teaching lesson, I used unprofessional language when referring to the class. Instead of referring to the class as “class” or “students”, I said “you guys”. Despite the fact I was not purposely attempting to use informal language, if I were in a real classroom, it would not have been acceptable. Because I use informal language so

My idea starts with my goal to become a better listener. When I thought about how to become one, I immediately thought of a website called “Blah Therapy” (www.blahtherapy.com), where I used to visit during my off-days and share my thoughts with strangers. “Blah Therapy” is a platform where internet users can come to consult professional therapists or talk to other strangers anonymously. For the “Talk to Strangers” option, users can either be a “venter” – someone who needs someone to talk to – or a “listener”. Upon realizing that most people are usually a better talker than a listener, I have decided to spend more time listening to those who need to talk or “release”. My plan is to visit “Blah Therapy” again, become a “listener” and help establish

I like communicating with other people, and much of my life consists of me with my friends. Communicating with people is a good way to become social and comfortable around people. Public speaking is my least favorite part of communicating but I feel if I go into business, it will be one of the most important things to learn. If I have to give a big speech, it could be the first time several upper management bosses really hear what I have to say, and if I give a poor speech and look frightened, it could make them think I am incompetent and cannot communicate.
In public speaking I learned many types of concepts, theories and terms of communication. In concepts of publicly speaking there’s, relaxation, practice, credibility, attention getters, attire, organization, volume, emotion, audience relation, and movement. In my first speech, “The any old bag speech” I quickly learned the do’s, don’ts and concepts of my speech performance.
